Chapter 48 - 48

Svetlana assumed a queenly posture, smiling as she poured the man another cup of coffee. "Since you've made up your mind, then go for it. I'm also very curious about the Mansion you mentioned, and what secrets are truly lurking there."

After one night, Eddie began to sell off his Tricell shares, converting all of them into cash. Three hundred million in capital entered the stock market, and with Excella's rising momentum, it directly multiplied fiftyfold!

After all, a drug that could inhibit cancer was the best news in decades. If it could inhibit it, it meant there was hope for a cure. Is the drug expensive? Doesn't it require R&D costs? For capitalists, as long as it makes money, that's all that matters!

Three hundred million in cash became fifteen billion! Eddie was even surprised by himself; this huge sum was enough for him to start building a brand new research lab!

Alex had also received the news in advance and entrusted this task to Stewart, her butler, to cash out the stocks. She also instructed Stewart that if Eddie asked for money, he was to give it unconditionally.

Stewart naturally wouldn't disobey; he was incredibly subservient to Alex. After all, not many people could ignore Alex's charming allure and queenly aura. At the same time, Stewart also knew about Miss Alex and Eddie; Eddie was his master, and he had to respond to Eddie's requests.

The reason for cashing out these stocks was that Eddie knew there wouldn't be such a good opportunity later. The stock prices during this period had stabilized, making it the time for maximum profit. Moreover, once the Raccoon City crisis erupted and some inside information was disclosed by the news...

The pharmaceutical alliance's credibility would plummet, leading to a depreciation of stock value. At that point, whoever bought would jump off a building! Losing tens of millions or billions in the blink of an eye would make one want to die!

Eddie was about to go out and find Suzuki Yoko. He needed to recruit this computer girl into his team. If he could steal the Red Queen, the supercomputer developed by Umbrella, that would be perfect!

Wolf Mom Karena pushed Eddie, who was about to leave, back inside, her eyes flashing with confusion. "Dear, did you rob a bank? Why do you have fifteen billion in your account?!"

"Calm down, my dear Karena. These funds were indeed obtained by me, did you have an objection?" Eddie said calmly.

Who knew that in the next sentence, Karena would say fiercely, "You robbed a bank and didn't even call me? You didn't include me in something so fun, does that mean you don't care about me?"

This question left Eddie a bit dumbfounded. Karena was so violent; were her hobbies doing bad things?

"No, it's just safer and risk-free than robbing a bank! I robbed the stock market, one investment, ten thousand times the profit! Please call me the God of Wealth, thank you!" Eddie proudly revealed the stock market affair.

Even Svetlana hadn't noticed this; he had quietly earned fifteen billion in the stock market! How fast was that?

Only Eddie and Alex knew about this, not even Excella. Even if she knew, she wouldn't bear to let go of those shares; those were all money, representing influence!

Karena's beautiful eyes sparkled, clearly shocked by the man. The man she favored actually had such ability! "Alright, it seems I need to get to know you better. Do you need a reward?"

Chapter 77: The Rejection of the Mature Ada

The anti-cancer drug released by Excella achieved tremendous success, but Tricell Pharmaceutical, which should have risen with the momentum, suffered a heavy blow. Various processing factories in its European division were attacked, and all drug personnel were assassinated one by one; it seemed someone was targeting them.

These deceased R&D personnel were all responsible for developing drugs that could control poisons, using these poisons to coerce spies and partners into doing illegal things.

Even if guards occasionally found attackers, they were able to quickly move to dodge bullet attacks, followed by a storm-like counterattack. The accuracy of the bullets was despairing; even if one hid behind cover, any slight flaw would result in being hit and killed.

Another factory exploded. Ada, dressed in a crimson cheongsam paired with a combat suit, stood on a tree branch in the forest, her beautiful eyes cold. The Tricell factory attacks were initiated by her alone; this was an act of revenge.

As a spy, she shouldn't have emotions, but as a woman, she wouldn't easily let go of something like hatred.

Beep beep! A soft notification sound came, and Ada took out her transparent phone to answer, "What is it?"

A somewhat greasy middle-aged man appeared on the other end of the phone. This person was none other than Simmons, the patriarch of the largest family in the Federation! His eyes became incredibly infatuated when he looked at Ada. "Ada, are you alright? I haven't heard from you in a long time."

"I'm fine. Do you have a mission? Just say it, and include your price!" Ada had no pleasantries. She had no interest in greasy middle-aged men, nor in power. The man she liked had to be able to pique her interest; otherwise, money meant nothing. The formidable Aunt Wang never cared about vulgar things like money!

"Umbrella's T-Virus and the latest G-Virus. If you can get me a sample, I'll give you one billion. With complete data, I'll give you another billion!" Simmons offered decisively.

"I'll try. The G-Virus's price is more than one billion; it could even be two billion." Ada was very clear about the G-Virus's price. Compared to the T-Virus, the G-Virus had immeasurable potential for creation and was more promising.

"Two billion it is, two billion. As long as you can get it, money is not an issue." Simmons nodded. As the most powerful family, he was not short of money at all; what he lacked was talent and relevant knowledge.

"Understood. That's all for now." Ada didn't want to talk to Simmons any further. Seeing this greasy middle-aged man, Ada preferred to talk to Eddie. At least that man was witty and quite handsome.

"Wait, Ada, if you have time, let's have dinner together!" Simmons's eyes were somewhat fervent. Looking at the exquisite Ada, he couldn't forget her. Most importantly, Ada's temperament was the most outstanding among all the women he had ever seen.

What cannot be obtained is the best; this saying was perfectly embodied in Simmons.

Ada frowned. "No time. We only discuss work, nothing else. I have something else to do, so that's all for now." She then hung up the phone.

Simmons had no idea that Ada looked down on him. His unrequited love seemed laughable.

After settling her grievances with Tricell, Ada assassinated another senior researcher and then retreated. This was enough to keep them busy; a series of factory destructions, coupled with the killing of researchers.

Ada also 'accidentally' left behind evidence implicating Umbrella. Regardless of whether it could frame Umbrella, this mess was dumped on Umbrella's head, letting the two behemoths fight it out. She would not get involved.

In the Raccoon City University district, Eddie once again drove his sports car to find Suzuki Yoko. The somewhat timid Suzuki Yoko, carrying her backpack, got into the sports car amidst the envious glances of those around her.

"Long time no see, Eddie. How have you been? Is there something you need me for?" Suzuki Yoko smiled sweetly, her demeanor appearing very docile.

"Long time no see, Yoko. How's your studies going recently?" Eddie also smiled.

Suzuki Yoko shook her head. "No progress. I already understand all the knowledge here. If you hadn't come, I would have been very bored."

"I'm planning to assemble a research team, my own team. I also need a computer talent to help me design some programs and maintain the lab's network. I didn't know who to ask, but you were the first person I thought of. I am now inviting you to join. What do you think?" Eddie said with a smile.

"Me? Can I do it?" Suzuki Yoko didn't know what she would do next. Having gone through the experience of having her memory erased by Umbrella, it was hard for her to trust others.

"Of course, you can. Like you, I have no good feelings for Umbrella and have also been persecuted. I think we have common ground, and although I'm not a good person, I would never frame or harm my friends. We are friends, aren't we?" Eddie said with a bright smile.

Looking at the handsome Eddie, Suzuki Yoko felt a little embarrassed. A handsome man inviting her to join a research team, she really couldn't refuse. "Then please take care of me from now on." After saying that, she bowed politely.

"No, no need to be so formal, we're friends!" Eddie said with a chuckle.

Only Svetlana, who was driving, rolled her eyes a bit. How foolish was this woman? She didn't even ask about salary and benefits, and just so haphazardly got on the pirate ship. It would be very difficult to get off.

And even Svetlana, such a rational woman, sometimes felt it was better to stay on the ship. Her rationality told her not to, but at least she had to try to achieve her dreams.

Eddie smiled happily. Along the way, he had met various highly intelligent women, and Suzuki Yoko was the easiest to deal with. "I won't treat you unfairly. Your starting salary will be one hundred thousand, adjusted monthly based on projects, with no upper limit. This is our own lab, and you're a part of it, but there's one small requirement."

Suzuki Yoko asked curiously, "What kind of requirement?"

Eddie smiled mischievously. "The requirement is very simple: no boyfriends, no marriage, and no children within fifteen years. It's that simple."

Suzuki Yoko was startled, incredibly surprised. Was this requirement not excessive? What kind of requirement would be considered excessive then? Fifteen years without marriage or a boyfriend, wouldn't she become an old maid?

Chapter 78: Suzuki Yoko Tricked onto the Pirate Ship

"This requirement isn't too much, is it? You're still young, and there's no need to rush into finding a boyfriend, right? Besides, how good is freedom? Unrestrained by anyone. Don't you think this is better? I still think being alone is better, what do you think?" Eddie asked with a smile.

Suzuki Yoko lowered her head, wondering what she was thinking. "Well, Eddie, what you said seems to make a lot of sense. I still need to think about it!"

"Yoko, we're friends, right?" Eddie asked with a smile.

Suzuki Yoko nodded. "Yes, we're friends, why do you ask?" After saying that, she tilted her head, looking very cute and not at all like a computer genius.

Eddie smiled after hearing that. "Well, there you have it, would I lie to you? You also know that developing a project takes many years. I don't want my members to be distracted by emotional issues. And I'll tell you a secret."

Suzuki Yoko leaned in curiously and asked, "What secret?"

"If you agree, and fifteen years pass, if you don't want to get married, I'll cover all your living expenses and everything else. I'll be responsible, so you don't have to worry!" Eddie whispered.
