Chapter 49 - 49

Even with their hushed conversation, Svetlana heard everything clearly. A smile played on her lips as she sat in the driver's seat. This man was quite interesting. His intention in recruiting this island nation woman was probably not as simple as it seemed. Did he think she wouldn't know what he was really after? Was he greedy for knowledge?

"What nonsense are you spouting, you annoying man!" Suzuki Yoko lowered her head shyly, but didn't refuse.

"I'm serious, Yoko. We can become a team. We have common ground, and we're old acquaintances who both hate Umbrella." Eddie's expression turned serious.

Suzuki Yoko's expression also became serious. Looking at Eddie's earnest gaze, she pondered for a moment before nodding solemnly, "Okay, I agree. I'll join your team. I just hope you treat me the same way you do now, and that there won't be any backstabbing."

Eddie also said very seriously, "No problem, I agree to that condition. I'm also working hard to prevent such a situation from happening."

"I believe you. You're a bad guy!" Suzuki Yoko suddenly broke into a smile when she said "bad guy," clearly thinking of the "good guy" meme.

Svetlana shook her head. Another woman deceived. This man was a wolf in sheep's clothing; how could anyone trust him so easily? But then again, not many women would refuse such a man. Anyone who had interacted with him could see his astonishing potential.

The sense of accomplishment gained from investing in a potential stock was far beyond what a ready-made stock could offer. Smart women loved this approach!

"Yoko, do you know about an artificial intelligence Umbrella has, called Red Queen?" Eddie asked.

Suzuki Yoko thought for a moment then nodded, "I remember now. There is indeed such a supercomputer. It requires extremely expensive hardware, and the manufacturing precision needs to be very accurate. Its operating speed is a hundred times faster than any other computer, and that's the minimum!"

"Do you think we have a chance to secretly steal this supercomputer? Your intelligence, combined with the assistance of this machine, wouldn't you become the top computer genius?" Eddie's eyes sparkled. The future would definitely be the age of computers; all high-tech advancements would revolve around them.

With the latest computer, he could deduce more precise results. Good ideas coupled with accurate result analysis could absolutely achieve immortality!

"Oh, no, I can only do my best." Suzuki Yoko humbly lowered her head, possessing a unique gentle demeanor.

"If we get the chance, we still need to assemble a supercomputer. Do you know what components a computer is made of? When I'm on missions, if I get the chance, I'll bring the components back." Eddie continued to ask; he was very eager for a supercomputer.

Suzuki Yoko thought for a moment, "I'll give you some detailed information when I get back. I can't remember everything right now. From now on, I'll be relying on you, Eddie-kun!"

"Alright, no problem. Oh, Yoko, this is the key to the apartment. If anything happens, you can always go to the apartment or find me yourself. We're a team now!" Eddie tossed her a key.

"I understand. Be careful on the road, Eddie-kun!" Suzuki Yoko smiled sweetly.

As the car drove, Svetlana couldn't help but ask, her mind filled with doubts, "What exactly are you thinking? I feel like you're playing a very big game!"

"You'll know! I told you early on, I want revenge on Umbrella. Umbrella's downfall is just the first step. After that, I also want to get revenge on Spencer. In between, I'll collect all sorts of data and intelligence to achieve my dream of immortality!" Eddie made no attempt to hide anything. He was always sincere with his own people.

"You're really persistent about immortality, much more rational than some madmen who want to dominate the world." Svetlana rarely offered such praise.

"Don't go falling for me, it's very dangerous, beautiful instructor!" Eddie teased.

"Go to hell!" Svetlana stomped on the accelerator with her high heel, and the sports car roared away.

Freelance reporter Alyssa was still active in Raccoon City. Ever since her submission had most of the news unfavorable to Umbrella cut before being broadcast, she knew something was wrong.

She had been secretly investigating Umbrella's criminal evidence, but neither the underground laboratory nor the Hive was accessible to her. On the surface, Umbrella's image was incredibly bright and righteous, with over fifty thousand people employed by Umbrella, which brought her investigation to a standstill.

Left with no choice, Alyssa could only entrust a highly skilled computer hacker she knew from before to investigate Umbrella. The main goal was to find evidence of collusion and dirty dealings between Raccoon City's high-ranking officials and Umbrella, and to expose those transactions to the public!

Even though the agreed-upon number of days had passed, there was still no news from the hacker, which made Alyssa extremely anxious.

Helpless, she could only call the only person she knew, the great hero Eddie from the sanatorium case!

"Is something wrong, Alyssa?" Eddie arrived at Alyssa's apartment, not bothering to look around the environment.

"I hired a hacker to investigate evidence of bribery and transactions between Brian and Warren and Umbrella, and now the person is missing!" Alyssa said, frowning and looking somewhat melancholic.

Chapter 79: The Unpayable Price

Eddie looked at Alyssa, who was usually full of the aura of a strong business woman, now looking sad, and said helplessly, "You seem unable to rest for a single day. How do you want me to help you? The price is heavy, I'm telling you upfront, I'm a villain first, then a gentleman!"

Alyssa seemed to have thought of something, and for a moment, she actually looked a little shy. "I know, I'll agree to your terms. I also appreciate your way of doing things; at least it makes me feel much more at ease."

"Enough of that, let's get to the point." Eddie didn't know what Alyssa wanted to do. The abandoned sanatorium case was over, and the things inside had been destroyed. Even if there were any stragglers, they had been recovered by spies. What else could there be?

Alyssa also stopped trying to butter him up. "The hacker I hired is a woman, a good friend I knew before named January. This is her photo; she's still very young. Umbrella is a whirlpool, and I must rescue her."

Eddie took the photo. Indeed, she looked very young, with a stylish bob haircut similar to Alyssa's. While Alyssa's look was capable, this woman's was alluring, showing no hint of being a hacker.

"How do you know she was captured by Umbrella? A missing person doesn't allow you to deduce where she is now, or if she's even alive." Eddie frowned, thinking hard, but he couldn't seem to find any clues. This woman didn't appear in the original story.

Wait, it seemed she might have appeared in a certain experimental project, but it was hard to recall where.

"I trust my intuition, and my intuition is very accurate. Just as I trust you, I believe she's still alive and needs to be rescued!" Alyssa said very seriously.

Trust intuition? Could such nonsense be believed?

"Alright, I understand. I'll keep an eye out for you. By the way, be careful yourself. If you want to investigate Umbrella, you must ensure your own safety." Eddie put away the photo and reminded her.

"I know what to do, great hero! I'll wait for your good news, and I'll repay you well." Alyssa said, a little embarrassed. Constantly troubling him made her feel a bit awkward.

"It's fine, it's no trouble at all. I'll be going now." Eddie finished speaking and prepared to stand up.

"Wait, since you're already here, why don't you have a meal before you go? Consider it a perk from me." Alyssa also stood up, stopped Eddie, and went to cook herself.

Eddie had no choice. He always found it hard to refuse the requests of beautiful women, and besides, he would have use for Alyssa in the future. Sometimes, when it came to creating a stir, reporters were the most suitable people to find.

In the Raccoon City Underground Laboratory, Annette had already moved out of the lab and into the apartment arranged for the investigation team. She would live there for two days, after which she would take the Zodiac Express to the Arklay Mountains to investigate and reactivate the Executive Training Center.

Wesker came to the Underground Laboratory again and found William, "Is the serum I need ready?"

William took out a box. The box opened automatically, revealing a syringe gun with a test tube. "It's finished, but there are still some unknown factors that might cause some irreversible damage. If you're prepared, you can use it."

"Irreversible damage? Is it serious?" Wesker picked up the syringe gun and examined it. If he were to research it, he definitely couldn't have achieved this step. It seemed his talent in serum research was indeed inferior to William's.

William shook his head, "I'm not sure, probably not. I've done the maximum research. You can decide for yourself. The serum will have more or less side effects, and it can make you fall into a deep sleep when you suffer severe injuries. When you wake up again, your strength and speed will greatly increase!"

William's expression seemed very proud. Being able to create such a serum was enough to make him feel proud. The only pity was that this serum could not be replicated, and its toxicity was very strong. If it weren't for Wesker's special physique that could resist this virus, it probably wouldn't have succeeded.

"Thank you. In a few days, I will lead the S.T.A.R.S. to explore the Arklay Mountains to test the combat data of the latest biochemical weapons. That will be my 'death day'!" Wesker, wearing sunglasses, looked very cool, his smile somewhat cruel and smug.

"Just give me a copy of the data then. I've already made arrangements; they'll send personnel over immediately. The G-Virus still needs some time. Also, I discovered someone has been to my lab. You're the head of intelligence; you need to find that person. He might have stolen my data!" William suddenly remembered something.

"This is still Umbrella's territory; it requires keycard access. Who would come? Is it that Eddie? He doesn't seem like it; he just circles around those women. What a shallow person." Wesker merely suspected him initially, then dismissed the thought.

From a researcher's perspective, no one would admit that their opponent was stronger than them, unless it was a superior-subordinate relationship, naturally suppressed, then there was no other way.

"I don't know, just help me find him." William was very angry. He absolutely would not allow anyone to take the G-Virus without his permission. That was his life's work, all his research results, and he could finally surpass the T-Virus invented by Marcus!

"I understand. I have other things to do, so I'll be going." Wesker picked up the box and left, bumping into his former colleague Daniel on the way out.

Looking at Daniel's retreating figure, Wesker fell into deep thought. Was this guy playing both sides? One thing on the surface, another behind the scenes? The price of a complete T-Virus and vaccine on the black market was one billion, enough for a family to live lavishly for a lifetime.

It was unrealistic for a colleague to obtain both the serum and the vaccine. The serum was developed in the Hive beneath the Arklay Mountains. The vaccine, on the other hand, was developed in the Second Hive beneath Spencer Memorial Hospital. The people in the two departments were somewhat antagonistic, making cooperation unlikely.

On the other side, the Delta Team began to gather at the villa in the Arklay Mountains, preparing to set out.
