Chapter 96: Rebecca is Still an Ordinary Person
After leaving the Executive Training Center, the four arrived at a cliff overlooking a massive Western-style building—Umbrella's Executive Training Center. As the countdown ended, a huge explosion erupted.
The entire Executive Training Center blew up, its roof torn off and shattered into dust by the immense shockwave! Heaven knows how much dynamite Umbrella had planted during construction. There were also oil drums and other flammable and explosive materials to fuel the blaze.
The evil, grotesque bio-monsters, and leech cultivation hidden within the Executive Training Center were all incinerated by the scorching flames, purified to nothing. All twisted souls would find purification and redemption.
The four watched the Training Facility explode into the sky. Besides a sense of satisfaction, there was also a touch of shock. This kind of 'fireworks' cost billions to build; most people would never see such a sight.
It was now morning, almost noon. The sun was high, bringing a little warmth to the eerie Arklay Mountains and dispelling some of the shadows.
"It's over! It's finally over," Billy said, sitting on the ground. A night of fighting had left him mentally exhausted; even his so-called peacekeeping missions in Africa hadn't been this tiring.
"Billy, what are your plans now?" Eddie asked with a smile, taking out water and vitamin tablets to distribute to the two women.
"I don't know. What about you? Are you going to arrest me?" Billy chuckled. Whatever the outcome, he accepted it.
Eddie, however, tossed him a vial of medicine. "Use this. Give me your dog tag. I'll write in the report that Second Lieutenant Billy has been killed in action."
Billy picked up the pale green liquid. "What is this?"
"I found it in the lab. It's a vaccine that can suppress the T-Virus, but it's not a complete vaccine. It's effective in the early stages, perfect for you." Eddie took a drink from his water bottle, rehydrating.
Billy looked at his injuries. He had just been scratched by a Hunter, just a small cut, but there was still a risk of infection. "Thanks. How do I use this?" He then took off his identification tag from around his neck and tossed it over.
Eddie caught the dog tag and put it away, then took out a syringe. "Just one shot. If you have any ideas, you can call me from the nearest city. If you want a fresh start, I can help you." He then handed over a card.
Billy took the card and read it several times to engrave it in his memory, lest he lose the card and be unable to find work. As a man who was officially dead, he would certainly have to leave the federation and live elsewhere, otherwise, being exposed would bring great danger to himself and his friends.
"The Arklay Mountains are dangerous, but you can leave with a motorcycle. Go east from here, and you'll reach Raccoon City. After passing through Raccoon City's only highway, you can leave Raccoon City," Eddie said after giving Billy the injection.
Eddie still admired Billy, a special forces soldier with a strong sense of justice and considerable strength. He needed Billy's help to carry out missions abroad, preferably to find Wesker's son, Jake Muller. If utilized, his inherited anti-viral constitution from Wesker could be used to extract a unique substance, pushing the serum to an even more perfect stage.
"An off-road motorcycle? Where is it?" Billy asked, puzzled.
Eddie looked at the Mansion in the distance. "We can find transportation to leave over there."
Any Umbrella facility would have a garage; if not a helicopter, then at least some vehicles. Once found, they could leave. Even if damaged, they could be temporarily repaired.
The Arklay Mountains were not without roads, but the winding terrain made helicopters a faster option. And transporting discarded biological weapons for destruction would certainly require trucks.
Moreover, the Mansion had always served as a vacation spot for Umbrella executives, so it would be illogical for it not to have a garage or roads leading to it.
Rebecca felt very tired. She hadn't used the serum to enhance her physique; she was just an ordinary person. A sleepless night, coupled with highly focused and mentally draining combat, had left her exhausted and in need of rest.
"Up ahead is Umbrella's resort Mansion. Let's meet up with the team there," Eddie said, pointing to the Mansion. They hadn't met Enrico underground because Enrico had gone to support Edward and the others at the Mansion from the start, and they didn't know if anyone had died.
"There are edible fruits and herbs nearby," Svetlana said, pointing ahead.
"I don't know if the things here are infected. It's better to be careful," Eddie said, frowning. He wasn't sure.
Svetlana, however, curved into a charming smile. Annette had told her that she was basically immune to T-Virus infection due to the presence of antibodies, but if unnecessary, she shouldn't ingest too much serum, as it could cause imbalance.
After a short rest, they arrived at the Mansion, but found no one there. There were signs of battle around, but no bodies of Bravo Team members.
Inside the Mansion, Eddie found a relatively decent room at the front and told Rebecca to rest there. He could tell that Rebecca was extremely sleepy. It seemed that after the Mansion incident, she would need serum enhancement upon returning to Raccoon City.
"Svetlana, you should also rest here. You and Rebecca can look out for each other. The front here is quite safe, but you still need to be careful. The situation here is also very strange. Billy and I will go check the garage," Eddie instructed.
"I can still fight!" Rebecca said, waving her small fists.
"Alright, don't pretend to be tough. We're on the same side, be honest. There are no outsiders here, so let's leave it at that. Svetlana, take good care of her," Eddie said to the formidable female instructor.
Svetlana nodded, handing him a grenade. "Be careful. If something happens, pull the pin on the grenade, and I'll know you're in danger and come help you."
As expected of a queen who would later become the supreme ruler of a region, Svetlana's style was completely different from other women. To use a grenade as a token, wasn't she afraid of accidentally blowing herself up?
"I know, don't worry. I'm very afraid of dying, so I'll be the first to run away!" Eddie smiled, gave them both a hug, and then left.
Billy walked along the Highway, giving Eddie a thumbs-up, indicating his approval. "Buddy, you're really something, haha. You're a very interesting person. It's an honor to fight alongside you."
Chapter 97: Rebecca Snores
The two arrived at the garage, located at the front of the Mansion. There weren't many bio-monsters here; this was the main hall. The T-Virus leak had occurred internally, and only by gradually delving deeper into the Mansion would they discover more and more bio-monsters, both successful types and discarded, unsuccessful ones.
The garage contained over a dozen cars, all covered in layers of dust. The bright lights allowed for a clear view of the garage's interior.
Bang! Eddie directly pulled out his gun and dealt with the few Zombie Dogs wandering in the garage. Billy also headshotted several zombies, who, judging by their attire, seemed to be maintenance personnel for the garage.
"Don't rush yet. Let's see if it's safe here, then check if the vehicles are usable," Eddie instructed.
Billy's heart skipped a beat. He had almost let his guard down. It seemed the prolonged battle had made him mentally fatigued.
"I know you're tired, but it's best to find a usable vehicle quickly. It's safer to travel during the day. Many of these monsters have escaped, and the Arklay Mountains are so vast that it will cause a very serious infection. We don't know how many monsters there will be. But they will be quieter during the day, which is a good time to leave," Eddie analyzed.
Billy skillfully found an off-road vehicle and began inspecting it, taking out tools to replace the spark plugs and add gasoline. "Can I ask you something?"
"Speak freely," Eddie said, chewing a vitamin tablet.
"I see you know a lot about Umbrella. Are you trying to take over?" Billy asked, looking at Eddie, seemingly observing whether he was lying.
Eddie shook his head. "Let me put it this way: my uncle is Marcus. Marcus is dead, killed by Umbrella's higher-ups. I don't have much affection for Marcus, but thanks to our family connection, I've lived quite well. All I want to do is avenge him and expose Umbrella's illegal experiments to the public."
"As for taking over, I have no such intention. After dealing with Umbrella, I will pursue my hobbies, creating drugs that can enhance physical fitness and fight cancer. By the way, let me tell you something: Gionne's anti-cancer drug was inspired by me," Eddie added.
"I apologize, I misunderstood. It's just that your performance was a bit too mature, and I was a little suspicious. I'm being honest, and I'm very grateful for your help," Billy said, suddenly saluting.
Eddie was momentarily stunned, then returned the salute, his right hand placed on his forehead in a triangular shape. "It's nothing, perhaps it's hatred. Actually, in the past, Umbrella's higher-ups were always wary of me. I could only pretend to be foolish. Hatred has made me much more mature."
"I'm sorry to hear that," Billy nodded.
"It's alright. I also need your help. How about becoming a mercenary?" Eddie smiled.
"No problem, I'll follow your arrangements. I trust you, comrade!" Billy said solemnly, feeling apologetic for misunderstanding Eddie. He was a very honest man.
"After you successfully return, get yourself sorted. You can call me in two or three days, and I'll arrange for someone to meet you. Fighting Umbrella requires sufficient strength, and I'm very grateful for your help," Eddie said cheerfully, shaking his hand. It was genuinely difficult to recruit a powerful enforcer.
"No problem, I appreciate your trust, comrade! By the way, is that your only dream?" Billy suddenly asked.
"If I have the chance, make more money, and have a few confidantes, that would be even better, haha!" Eddie joked.
"Others might not, but I feel like you can," Billy smiled.
In ten minutes, Billy had fixed the vehicle, filled it with enough gasoline, and was ready to go.
Eddie then walked out of the lounge, took a stack of money, and tossed it over. "Here, this is for travel expenses. I took it from here. Have a safe trip."
