Chapter 88 - 88

The area where these patients were held was in the northern part of the hospital, where individual small rooms, similar to prison cells, had been built.

Upon arriving, I saw a security company under Umbrella guarding the gate, armed with stun batons and submachine guns, indicating that the situation had indeed become very serious.

Opening the gate, the rooms inside were enclosed by iron bars. The patients, who had already turned into zombies, constantly reached out, trying to grab the passing shift workers. Some zombies' skin had already begun to rot, suggesting they had been confined for some time.

"These rotting patients were brought back from the Arklay Mountains a month ago, and soon after, they showed strong aggressive tendencies," the old hospital director explained with a frown.

"They can survive for a month without eating or drinking?" Eddie felt curious; he hadn't seen any related power, so why could zombies live so long?

"Yes, they are mostly still. They only move when someone walks by, and we've studied them; they seem to consume very little energy and apparently don't need to breathe," the old director revealed a research secret.

"If I could, I'd really like to put them out of their misery with one shot, to prevent them from becoming a menace again." Eddie waved to the two women behind him.

Jessica and Lisa walked straight over, ignoring the zombies' sharp claws, and with a strong tug, broke the zombies' limbs, then took out extractors to collect samples.

The old director's eyelids twitched wildly; it was the first time he had seen such fierce and tall women. Even standing in front of them, he felt a sense of oppression.

"Killing people is against the law!" the old director said, shaking his head.

"If what's killed isn't human, then it's not against the law, is it?" Eddie's smile was a little eerie.

"That's true," the old director nodded, watching silently. He was also a core researcher within Umbrella, who chose to retire and work here due to his age, and knew a little about some illegal research.

Almost all the zombies had their limbs brutally broken by Jessica and her daughter. Zombies have no human rights and require no morality.

After extracting the samples, Eddie went to the hospital's underground research institute, borrowed a laboratory, and began analyzing the zombies' blood.

Unlike the initial T-Virus, the zombies' blood also contained other mutated components. "The virus has mutated!"

Eddie concluded that the serum Marcus extracted from leeches had extremely strong compatibility. When encountering different bacteria or viruses, it could also mutate under certain circumstances. This mutation would make the serum more violent and difficult to control. After its toxicity increased, it would cause some of the original antibody serums to become ineffective!

Dudu, a phone rang. It was an unknown caller. Eddie picked up the phone curiously, "Who is this?"

"Yo, handsome, you forgot me so quickly? We met in the Arklay Mountains, and you even saved me!" A charming voice came through, its soft, sweet tone making one's imagination run wild.

"Sienna? What do you want from me?" Eddie thought for a moment and knew who it was. Ada wouldn't speak to him in that tone.

"You're really smart. Do you have time? Let's have a drink; it's on me!" Sienna extended an invitation.

"Where?" Eddie didn't refuse. He was very curious why this member of Echo Team had come back.

"At the Rose Bar on Annadale Pedestrian Street. I'll be waiting for you here. Come quickly, and bring your ID!" Sienna said coquettishly.

Eddie shook his head and hung up. Bring his ID? He wouldn't believe her nonsense. For a beautiful spy who frequented high society but remained untouched, even her punctuation marks needed to be questioned for truthfulness.

Chapter 144: The Indian Tradition of Repayment

In the Rose Bar, a fashionably dressed blonde beauty was drinking alone, her ten-centimeter black high heels swaying with her mood. Almost every man in the bar noticed this glamorous woman; she was the kind of woman who made hearts race!

Yet, no one approached this glamorous blonde beauty. Logically, in the open-minded federation, this shouldn't happen. Why wouldn't any man approach her?

However, seeing the three burly men already knocked out beside her, one knew that this beauty was not as harmless as she appeared!

When Eddie entered the bar, Jessica and Lisa, with her short white hair, immediately attracted everyone's attention. Strong yet possessing an unusual beauty, such women made it hard for people to take their eyes off their faces.

"A brandy!" Eddie called out to the bartender, throwing down a banknote. Then he turned and asked, "Alright, I'm here. Speak your mind!"

Sienna chuckled, "Who brings two chaperones on a date?"

"They are my bodyguards. I take them everywhere, even to the restroom. I don't want to be ambushed while using the restroom. You know, that's when one's guard is lowest," Eddie said with a smile, using a metaphor.

"Hehe, you're really interesting. I came to thank you. Thank you for saving us that day. These are chocolates I made; I hope you like them." Sienna smiled and pushed a small box over.

"Thank you, I'm sure I'll like them. Is it just a thank you? Nothing else?" Eddie continued to ask. He wasn't here for a date. If he wanted a date, wouldn't it be better to go back to Wolf Mom Luper?

"Hehe, do you want to take me to a hotel for a more in-depth discussion?" Sienna blinked her beautiful eyes, as if hinting at something.

Eddie waved his hand. He wasn't interested in that. Currently, Jill and Annette were both pregnant with his children, so it was better to be a bit more disciplined. "Come on, I'm not falling for that. Just tell me what's going on. Even if you won't tell me the truth, it doesn't matter."

A glimmer of wisdom flashed in Sienna's beautiful eyes. "Alright, just as you said, I'm just a small scout. What I want to tell you is, it's best to stay away from Umbrella, so you don't get caught in the crossfire."

"Someone is targeting Umbrella? How do I stay away?" Eddie asked.

"I can't tell you the specifics, but I received intelligence that someone is targeting you," Sienna's expression became very serious.

Eddie's eyes flickered. He had been keeping such a low profile, yet someone was still targeting him. Who could it be? "Let me guess, this guy is a man?"

Sienna nodded, "That's right, and he's someone you can't afford to offend right now. He has a lot of power. I don't know how you offended him, but you need to be careful. He might arrange some trumped-up charges against you. You know, sometimes forced confessions aren't just in stories."

"Thank you for telling me such important information. I'll be careful. If you need my help, you can always find me. We're friends!" Eddie said with a hearty laugh.

"We've always been friends, haven't we? It's been a pleasure chatting with you. I haven't been this happy in a long time. If I retire and don't want to work anymore, I'll apply to your company." Sienna blinked her beautiful eyes. She was serious; finding an easy job was too difficult.

"No problem. By the way, is Derek Simmons your superior?" Eddie suddenly asked.

"No! General Morgan is!" Sienna answered subconsciously, then became a little annoyed. "You're trying to trick me into talking!"

Eddie shook his head, "No, I'm just confirming. Whether it's Derek or Morgan, they're not good people. Sometimes, for their own goals, they won't hesitate to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of lives."

"You speak so cruelly. Have they really done such things?" Sienna was very confused; her intelligence didn't contain any accounts of these events.

"I can only tell you that much. I can't say anything else. Alright, I should go. Since someone is targeting me, not fighting back isn't my style. Beautiful lady, next time, if there's an opportunity, I'll bring my ID. Goodbye!" Eddie took the brandy, drank it in one gulp, and turned to leave.

Five minutes after Eddie left, Caroline walked over and sat down. "Those two women with him are very powerful. I can't beat them."

"I noticed that too, but sometimes being able to fight is useless. This is the era of thermal weapons; no matter how good you are at fighting, you can't beat planes and cannons!" Sienna sneered.

"Is the Security Advisor targeting him? Sienna, answer me." Caroline's eyes kept looking in the direction Eddie had left.

"You haven't fallen for that man, have you? From what I know, he's a bastard who lives with many women simultaneously. Don't be fooled." Sienna told her friend what she knew.

Caroline shook her head, "We Indians value repayment. He saved me from those monsters' siege, so I must find a way to repay him."

"Why don't you say you're going to offer yourself to him?" Sienna was a bit speechless. It was the twenty-first century, and such traditional thinking still existed?

"I'm still serving. After my service ends, I might do that!" Caroline nodded, her expression very serious.

"Hey, my dear friend, you haven't fallen for him, have you? He's not a good person. Don't you mind? You don't have any emotional foundation!" Sienna covered her head. She felt something was wrong. Being saved means offering oneself? What kind of logic was that?

"You don't understand. This is persistence, this is tradition! It's also foresight; he's definitely not simple. Tell me, Sienna, who is targeting him, and how can I help him!" Caroline's eyes were as sharp as a hunting hawk's.

"It's no use telling you. Do you know who controls the Federation behind the scenes? It's those syndicates, and the largest one is called the Family. Derek is the acting leader of that family. If his performance is good, he will become the true leader!" Sienna had no choice; she could only state the facts.

In the Echo Six Team, Sienna and Caroline were old partners. Caroline had saved her many times, and she was a lifesaver to whom Sienna owed a great debt, so she couldn't deceive her.
