Chapter 87 - 87

"It seems a battle took place here. Has the target already been taken away?" Caroline rummaged through documents on the table.

"No, Doctor, please come out. We are from the Federation, sent to pick you up. We belong to the Marine Corps." Sienna shook her head and called out to a room door.

The door opened, and Dr. Mueller, a middle-aged man with glasses and slicked-back hair, walked out with a pistol. "Show me proof of your identity and give me the password!"

Sienna threw her ID over. "This is our work ID. The agreed password is 4:30, evacuate Raccoon City!"

Dr. Mueller simply glanced at the ID, then put away his pistol. "I can't leave yet. Umbrella's people are searching for me, and my work is not yet complete."

"Then how much time do you need, Doctor?" Sienna asked.

"At least another month, that's the fastest. My most perfect artwork, you promised me you would protect my artwork and me!" Dr. Mueller's tone was extremely frantic.

To create a perfectly controllable Tyrant takes time and cultivation. Using mutated T-Virus, the goal is to maximize strength and stamina to a degree where it can defeat other Tyrants, while also maintaining perfect controllability.

"A month? We need to report this to our superiors, please understand." Sienna said neither humbly nor arrogantly. In fact, she detested these mad scientists who had no bottom line.

"Hmph, you don't need to. I'll report it myself. Give me the phone." Dr. Mueller held out his hand.

Sienna frowned, but could only take out a special satellite phone, dial the number, and hand it over.

Dr. Mueller took the phone. On the third ring, the call connected. "Party Girl, report your progress."

"General Morgan, this is Mueller. I need a month to complete my perfect artwork. Relying on just these two team members of yours doesn't seem enough to escort my precious work, does it!" Dr. Mueller snorted.

Chapter 142: The Spread of the Serum Crisis

"No problem, but you need to provide relevant data, combat data, and production data. Your conditions can still be met. I will dispatch a squad to cover your retreat." General Morgan said coldly. He had a knack for dealing with scientists.

First, he'd coax these people over nicely, and once he got what he wanted, he'd assess the situation. If they could still be utilized, he'd continue to do so. If not, he'd kill them directly! Burning bridges was common in the Western Federation, precisely because of the arrogance and conceit of these researchers. Not everyone would indulge them, and in the end, it was a dead end!

General Morgan was a ruthless character, most famous for creating the Floating Island Incident, though it hadn't happened yet. His position was still a proper general, and he was also the commander of the Raccoon City sterilization operation!

"I will provide you with data, but you cannot take my artwork. Don't compare those filthy things to my artwork. My artwork is forbidden from mass production!" Dr. Mueller seemed to remember something and started to roar again.

"That's all for now. Contact me if anything comes up!" General Morgan hung up the phone after speaking. There was nothing more to say to a lunatic. Once he got what he wanted, Dr. Mueller could die.

Eddie went to his company, gave some instructions, and handed the order to Geonny Pharmaceutical. He told Curtis to find a suitable location in West Africa for a research institute and to establish his own building.

Only by demonstrating his strength would Excella obediently comply. Excella's noble background gave her a very high standard; she wasn't someone who could be commanded by just anyone.

Leaving the temporary office, just as he was about to drive back to the apartment, he saw Kevin rushing over. "Is something wrong?"

"Hey, Eddie, it's you! Long time no see. You never visit the police station anymore; a lot of people are waiting for your afternoon tea. I'm not here for you. There's a serious assault case at the northern logging camp, and I need to go check it out." Kevin explained. He was a member of the elite unit, and they were needed to handle any violent incidents.

"Something like that? I'll go take a look too. I'm on vacation anyway, so I get paid whether I work or not." Eddie frowned, then set off with Jessica and Lisa, following Kevin.

Arriving at the logging camp, there were two people clutching their shoulders. The main gate was already closed, and occasionally, sounds of banging on the door could be heard.

"How are you two?" Kevin asked, then spoke into his walkie-talkie, "This is Kevin. I'm at the northern suburban logging camp. There's an armed conflict here, two civilians are injured, and we need a patrol car."

Eddie noticed that both logging camp employees had bite marks. The bitten areas looked as if a chunk of flesh had been torn off directly. This was undoubtedly the mark of a human bite. It seemed someone in the logging camp had turned into a zombie! "How many people are still inside?"

"Ah! It hurts so much! The boss and his secretary are inside, just two people. Just now, the boss said he'd pay us, but then he suddenly rushed over and bit us. His secretary did too. We used all our strength to push them away. Luckily, others helped. Damn it, it hurts so much! I need an ambulance!" The injured youth cried out in pain.

"I understand. We'll take care of this." Eddie nodded and pulled out his Samurai Edge. This pistol, the same model as Jill's, had its power boosted after modifications, and could hold fifteen rounds!

"I suspect you were bitten by a wild animal. Just kidding, don't mind me, Eddie. Do you want to go inside and take a look?" Kevin asked.

"Of course, but it's best to be ready to shoot, otherwise, getting bitten once won't feel good." Eddie smiled, twirling his pistol with a flourish.

As soon as Kevin pushed open the door, a hideous head poked out, trying to bite his hand. Kevin quickly retreated, and the zombie fell directly to the ground, slowly trying to get up on the doorstep.

It was a portly middle-aged man, but with pale skin and vacant eyes, he was indistinguishable from a zombie. This was a zombie that had lost its consciousness.

Bang! Eddie shot the zombie's leg, breaking it. "These suspects can be taken back for you to report. These people are beyond help. I don't know what kind of disease they have."

"You scared me, Eddie. You're still so decisive with your shots. Joseph and the others were right." Kevin smiled, raising his pistol and aiming, because another female zombie walked out from behind the door.

"I'm always decisive. If it were me, I'd shoot her in the head!" Eddie suggested, but it was just a suggestion. The other party probably didn't even know what a zombie was, only seeing them as suspects.

"Don't joke around. If I kill a suspect, I'll be in trouble too." Kevin smiled and refused. This joke wasn't funny, unless the person was someone he really disliked. The current situation didn't require shooting!

Eddie also knew this wouldn't happen. It seemed they were still in trouble! But why were zombies breaking out here? This place was near the Arklay Mountains. Had the contamination already reached this area?

Just two zombies, not a big problem. The problem was that even with broken legs, these two zombies were still roaring, trying to grab and eat people. Kevin could only helplessly tie them up and send them to the General Hospital for treatment.

The General Hospital was also a hospital controlled by Umbrella, and it was where these patients with the 'man-eating disease' were housed.

"That was a close call. This is the second time I've encountered these madmen. What's going on lately? Just looking at these people makes my scalp tingle." Kevin said after resolving the issue, handing over a can of cola.

"Second time? Where did you encounter them the first time?" Eddie asked, puzzled.

"Further north, that's already in the Arklay Mountains. You know, quite a few hunters live there. So when something happens to them, we have to go check it out." Kevin explained.

Eddie frowned. It seemed the Mansion and the Executive Training Center had exploded, and Umbrella's incriminating evidence had indeed been covered up and destroyed. However, the serum leakage incident hadn't been completely cleaned up, and infected individuals were gradually spreading. This couldn't be stopped anymore!

"Is something on your mind?" Kevin sensed Eddie's unusual demeanor.

"No, I was just thinking that there are more and more diseases now, and the speed of drug development can't keep up with the speed of mutation. It's really hard to make money. Alright, the matter is resolved, so I'll be going. Talk to you later, see you at Jack's Bar tonight!" Eddie waved his hand and left with his two female bodyguards.

Chapter 143: Mutated T-Virus

The crisis had spread to the outskirts of Raccoon City. It seemed it was time to run! Eddie didn't want to be destroyed along with the city. Before that, he still needed to get all of Umbrella's research data, as well as the mysterious Supercomputer Server Number Thirteen.

"Today, an assault occurred at the suburban logging camp. Fortunately, the police arrived promptly. The assailant is suspected of suffering from epilepsy and rabies and has been sent to the General Hospital for treatment. The police urge all citizens to be mindful of their personal safety." A female newscaster on TV reported the day's news.

Every resident of Raccoon City showed no surprise or curiosity. In the free federation, gunfights happened every day!

It was just a violent assault case; there was nothing to make a fuss about. They'd rather find some fun in that time.

"The serum has already spread to the outskirts. If not contained, it will soon escalate into an uncontrollable disaster! Master, the disaster assessment from Raccoon City has arrived." The butler, Patrick, carefully read the document.

"This is good. If the Federation doesn't take any action, we won't interfere. Have Sergei begin assembling the Biohazard Countermeasure Unit. Find more people. Arrange for the relevant record keepers in advance. Hmph, this is our chance to rise again." Spencer decisively gave the order.

Spencer had a strong desire for control; he liked to keep everything in his own hands. Otherwise, he wouldn't have pushed the Ashford Family out of the decision-making circle, although Alexander's lack of intelligence and inability to contend with Spencer also played a part.

Although Umbrella now appeared powerful, truly rational people could see that this giant ship, which had sailed for half a century, was about to sink!

From the very beginning of secretly selling T-Virus, researchers constantly defected, coupled with the Federation military's recruitment and the small actions of rival companies. Top talent began to drain away, and Dr. Mueller, who was proficient in Tyrant series modifications, also mysteriously disappeared!

All these things made it difficult for Spencer to sustain. If he couldn't control it, then he would destroy it completely. He would transform Umbrella's downfall into combat data for biological weapons. With relevant combat data, Umbrella could rise again at any time!

Eddie, accompanied by Jessica and Lisa, arrived at the General Hospital. Today, more people had been brought in. The hospital had specially designated an area to confine these patients who had been infected with the serum and mutated into zombies!

"Take me to the area where those man-eating patients were admitted today. I need to collect samples." Eddie went directly to the director, showed his identification, and the director obediently complied. High rank allowed for certain privileges, as long as they weren't excessive.
