Chapter 110 - 110

"Alright, please wait a moment, Eddie, you need to be careful. Some of the creatures waiting for experiments here have been released, and there are still some living researchers inside. I remember this place; I used to work here," Suzuki Yoko replied, typing on the keyboard.

Zombies kept pouring in, posing a huge threat in the narrow passages. Even with a submachine gun, it was difficult.

Jessica pulled out a three-meter-long iron chain and, with one swing, split five zombies in half. Then, swaying left and right, she used unique strength techniques to break the zombies in the corridor at the waist.

These zombies, cut in half, felt no pain and continued to crawl on the ground with their hands, trying to bite any living creature.

Thump! Eddie didn't hold back; he directly stomped down, his specialized combat boot crushing the zombie's head, ending these monsters' lives. Hopefully, they'll reincarnate well in their next life.

Pushing forward, they soon saw zombies emitting a purple aura, seemingly a mutated type of zombie that resulted from inhaling a unique toxic gas. They were the same type as regular zombies, just poisonous.

Eddie immediately raised his gun and shot the zombie's head, causing a pale purple mist to instantly fill the passageway, making it temporarily impassable.

"It seems we'll have to go through the ventilation ducts," Eddie said, a bit helpless at the situation.

"No, there are some brain-eaters in the ventilation ducts. It's very dangerous. We should still go through on the ground. Those zombies must be a variant that absorbed some kind of gas. Just break their legs to keep them from getting close," Suzuki Yoko's voice came through the earpiece.

"What are brain-eaters?" Svetlana asked.

"They are mutated monsters, like fleas, that absorbed blood with T-Virus. They devour the brains of any living creature and are very disgusting and hideous monsters. Just shoot them dead from a distance; they are quite large," Eddie explained.

No sooner had he finished speaking than a sound of claws walking inside the ventilation ducts echoed.

Eddie raised his submachine gun and unleashed a storm of metal towards the sound's source. The monster in the ventilation duct screamed continuously as it was shot, eventually dying miserably.

Thump! The monster cut through the ventilation duct and jumped down. It didn't attack but instead lunged directly onto a zombie's head and began gnawing and devouring the zombie's brain; the entire process was extremely disgusting.

"T-Virus truly seems to be a disaster," Svetlana frowned, raised her gun, and a powerful Magnum bullet killed the brain-eater.

"It was always a disaster, but now the disaster is starting to spread. Be careful, let's go." Eddie stepped forward first. He continued to use the submachine gun, a special weapon configured for him by Emma, with many attachments to enhance bullet power and reduce recoil. It could also freely switch between submachine gun and sniper rifle modes.

They could reach the experimental area by passing through the main hall and then the experimental zone. Since the ventilation ducts were impassable, they had to fight their way through step by step.

As they moved forward, Eddie would use bullets only when encountering monsters like brain-eaters. If it was just ordinary zombies, there was no need to waste bullets; he would resolve them with physical combat, which was faster and more convenient.

Opening the laboratory door, the hall was almost a paradise for the dead. Hunters and zombies were mixed in, and a giant plant occupied the doorway leading to the dormitory area.

Hiss! The Hunters saw that there were living people again and immediately rushed over, raising their claws, eager to slaughter.

Bang! Svetlana raised her Magnum, and with the immense kinetic energy of the bullet, combined with a hollow-point bullet, she blew off the Hunter's head with one shot. How could flesh and blood collide with the most ferocious steel?

Eddie took out his tactical dagger and counter-charged the rushing Hunter. His eyes became incredibly focused, and everything around him seemed to slow down. Before the Hunter's claws struck, Eddie had already dodged with a side-step, then slashed forcefully with his dagger, cutting off half of the Hunter's head.

He punched with his left hand, blowing up the head of an attacking Raging Zombie, and then delivered a spinning kick, sending a zombie behind him flying into other zombies attempting to surround them.

He instinctively ducked to avoid a Licker's oral attack, pulled out a grenade and threw it, then forcefully thrust his dagger, piercing the Licker's heart.

Svetlana was also incredibly fierce. This close-quarters combat was her favorite part; compared to using firearms against enemies, given the right circumstances, she preferred to use exquisite skill to deliver a fatal blow.

Jessica and Lisa also charged into the zombie horde. Jessica's delicate hand grabbed a nearby railing, twisted it with force, and broke off a meter-long steel pipe, using it as a weapon to strike with wide, powerful swings.

Not a single zombie could withstand a blow without dying, and no Hunter could directly contend with Lisa.

The more than ten Hunters, five Lickers, and over fifty zombies in the hall were all wiped out by Eddie and the three women!

Only a giant plant remained at the doorway, seemingly similar to the plant monsters in the abandoned processing plant.

"Burn it with fire!" Eddie commanded.

Jessica nodded, stepped forward, and continuously sprayed flames from her flamethrower, incinerating the giant plant.

The attacked plant became even more ferocious. No plant could withstand the scorching flames. The intense burning pain caused the plant to wave its vines in retaliation.

Lisa stood beside her mother, grabbing an attacking vine. Before the immense force could strike, she didn't even waver. Her fair, delicate hand showed no white marks, and with a forceful tug, she tore off the vine! A human tank, anyone?

Chapter 183: Gold-Digging Researcher Monica

Under the assault of Lisa and Jessica, who were already superwomen, the immobile giant plant was burned to ashes. If this plant had encountered anyone else, perhaps no one could have dealt with it, and they might have been swallowed alive. But encountering cheaters with flamethrowers and ample fuel, it could only die.

If Veronica Serum had been available, eliminating this plant would have been a matter of minutes.

There was a security warehouse near the dormitory area, where they could replenish some fuel and also stock up on some bullets.

Continuing towards the dormitory area, most of the inhabitants here were infected researchers. A few researcher zombies had mutated into Lickers after devouring enough food. They had immense lethality against ordinary people, with swift movements and the ability to climb walls. Their agile speed could toy with any prey.

However, these evolved creatures encountered beings even more powerful than themselves. Among the four, even the weakest, Eddie, after extensive combat and slaughter, could easily handle various biochemical weapons. Relying on oneself is more reliable than relying on others.

Moving forward, this was only the lowest level of the dormitory area; the accommodations for senior researchers were thirty meters higher. The ironic thing was that the senior researchers' quarters did not have direct access to the outside world. They needed to return to the ground floor via a specific passage and then take an elevator from the ground floor hall to leave.

The continuous killing caused Eddie to experience a side effect, an urge to vent, which he could only suppress with willpower. If he killed without restraint, the effects of the serum would eventually consume his sanity.

This was not significantly evident in women like Jill; their willpower was strong, and they did not experience this side effect. Apparently, it only manifested in men. Is there such differential treatment for a man?

Svetlana frowned, "Your side effect is acting up?"

"How did you know?" Eddie didn't hide it; his eyes began to glaze over. He needed a moment of calm.

"Christine Yamata told me; I taught her some practical techniques. I can't help you with your current situation!" Svetlana explained.

"A beautiful older sister like you, surely you have a way, right?" Eddie teased.

"Go to hell!" Svetlana snorted, then looked around. "There should still be survivors here. I'll go find someone to check. You stay put and hold on. If it really doesn't work, we'll have to use the last resort. Don't worry, you'll be fine, at least while I'm still your bodyguard, you'll be fine."

Eddie opened a door, and inside, a researcher-turned-zombie tried to bite him. Jessica grabbed its head, pulled it out, and stomped it to death with her high heels!

Entering the room, Eddie took out a compressed biscuit to replenish his energy.

Svetlana went to a nearby laboratory. She heard a few gunshots, and then a woman wearing an Umbrella ID card ran out with a box.

The woman was a typical Caucasian, quite good-looking, but her expression seemed a bit harsh. She turned around, sensed someone behind her, and immediately tried to shoot, but Svetlana caught her in a hold. "Let me go, who are you!"

"Are you an Umbrella employee?" Svetlana asked, then realized she had asked a foolish question. She knocked the woman unconscious and picked her up.

Returning to the dormitory area, Svetlana dropped the woman. "I found a researcher who should be able to help you. I'll stand guard outside for you."

An hour later, Eddie opened the dormitory door, holding a Magnum.

Svetlana raised an eyebrow. "Did you kill her?"

"No, I'm not someone who crosses the river and burns the bridge. She helped me, and even if she's not a good person, I wouldn't kill her. I wouldn't do something so low. But if it's an enemy, I'll kill both men and women. For me, there are only my own people and enemies, no one else," Eddie said coldly.

Svetlana nodded. She didn't want her partner to be a cold-hearted person; this Eddie was the one she knew.

The woman looked at Eddie, who had re-entered, with a hint of surprise and resentment. "What else do you want to do? You demon."

Eddie noticed the Umbrella ID card on the woman's clothing. "Intermediate Researcher Monica? Heh heh, just as I thought."
