Just as Eddie was formulating the vaccine, members of the Echo Six Team also began to arrive at the underground laboratory to search for medicine.
There were not many zombies along the way; the occasional monsters encountered were plastered against the walls, already dead, as if something had forcefully slammed them against the wall.
"It's so strange here. How come these monsters seem to have been slaughtered by another kind of monster? Did those two women do it?" Sienna frowned; she felt like one of them seemed familiar.
"We just need to complete the mission, don't think too much." Caroline didn't say much. She clearly saw that it was Eddie, and it didn't look like he was being kidnapped, because the one carrying him was his bodyguard.
"Raccoon City has all sorts of monsters; we'd best be careful." Jettingham advanced cautiously, following the map to the designated location.
At the same time, three members of the Wolf Team also began to enter Raccoon City, following Wolf Mother Karena's instructions to rescue Claire and the other two. Wolf Mother was also in the team; her presence would make the operation more secure.
Hunk, emerging from the sewers with his two subordinates, Lone Wolf and Ghost, headed to Spencer Memorial Hospital. The three groups had the same objective: the underground research facility beneath the hospital.
Eddie quickly formulated the vaccine in the laboratory and prepared the nutrient solution. Fortunately, the supplies here were sufficient, and the power was adequate; otherwise, there would have been no other way.
The vaccine was quickly prepared and administered to Ada and Svetlana, who then entered a low-temperature freezing state for repair and fusion.
Eddie's consciousness was becoming increasingly blurred. He forced himself to stay awake long enough to inject himself, then, with Jessica's help, entered a cryogenic chamber and began hibernation. Jessica handled everything at the end.
Lisa pressed a button, and the nutrient solution flowed into the cryogenic chamber.
"You know how to use this?" Jessica was very confused.
Lisa nodded, "I've been learning recently, but I don't understand it very well. Suzuki Yoko is teaching me." She then pointed to her earpiece.
Eddie's consciousness was very blurry. He felt an intense rampage, two completely different yet somewhat similar viruses fighting each other.
Muscles and blood vessels were writhing, and even in sleep, he could feel immense pain.
Lisa sent Eddie's condition to Suzuki Yoko. Suzuki Yoko, far away on the cruise ship, dared not tell Jill and could only call Annette, Christine Yamata, and Michaela Schneider Heinzwaffen to discuss it.
"How did he get infected with the G-Virus? Did he use the vaccine?" Annette was almost startled when she heard this. If something happened to her man, she couldn't remain calm; she was carrying Eddie's child!
Chapter 228: Mutation, Evolution, Jessica
"I don't know, but for now, his condition is not stable." Suzuki Yoko was also worried. She didn't want anything to happen to her boss; it's hard to find a stable, long-term job these days.
"T-Virus plus G-Virus, theoretically, it's very difficult, right? In the data I've seen, these two are completely different products, and forced fusion will lead to many unpredictable effects. I don't have any solutions; currently, freezing is the smartest option." Christine Yamata frowned. Without her mask, she looked very much like a sophisticated urban woman.
"This experiment has not been truly implemented, and there isn't even a theoretical basis for it yet. The current solution is to stabilize Eddie and prevent him from turning into a monster," Annette worried.
"You are the developer of the G-Virus; you know its characteristics very well. What do you suggest? Or should we rush back to Raccoon City now and perform a small surgery on him?" Michaela Schneider's beautiful eyes gleamed with dangerous light; she, as always, preferred dangerous and cruel surgeries.
"Using the vaccine at this time would definitely detoxify, but Eddie has been enhanced by the T-Virus, which makes it difficult to explain. I'm not sure, Yoko, do you have any suggestions?" Annette asked Suzuki Yoko.
Suzuki Yoko is also a senior Umbrella researcher and has extensive knowledge in this area. "I don't know either. The G-Virus was extracted from Lisa. So, will Lisa have a special effect on Eddie?"
"Perhaps Lisa's blood could be used. Adding a little blood to neutralize it, not much is needed, just a tiny bit. Stimulate cell phagocytosis; white blood cells are the most powerful cells, also a type of bacteria. Then they can turn around and engulf, and the G-Virus issue can also be resolved," Christine Yamata suggested.
"Then let's do that. I'll start calculating the amount of blood now; you all help too." Annette nodded; she had to save her husband.
Lisa followed Suzuki Yoko's instructions, using a special instrument to draw some blood. She didn't need a syringe; with just a thought, she could excrete blood. This was a function of the Aphall parasite, and after Lisa absorbed it, she could also use abilities similar to the Nemesis, though she rarely did.
After the blood was added, the unconscious Eddie absorbed it and suddenly woke up. He felt his body beginning to change. The two viruses, originally fighting each other, began to merge with Lisa's blood, forming a completely new substance.
Coincidentally, the body's immune system did not reject this substance; instead, it absorbed it, circulating it through the bloodstream to every cell.
His crimson eyes gradually intensified, and a primal, violent instinct awakened. The G-Virus began to fuse with the vaccine, weakening most of its functions, with only a slight residue remaining in the body as the fusion was accepted.
Eddie opened the cryogenic chamber, his eyes already crimson.
"Are you alright?" Jessica walked over, unfazed by the man's fierce, crimson gaze.
"No, not really. I need to calm down; I want to kill." Eddie shook his head. This side effect did not disappear with the addition of the G-Virus; instead, it showed a tendency to intensify.
"I'll help you. There's no one else here," Jessica said calmly.
Outside, Raccoon City had dawned. The zombies seemed to have hidden, as if they feared sunlight, moving in places where the sun was not strong, even consciously avoiding it.
In fact, it was just an unconscious behavior; high temperatures would accelerate the decomposition of zombies, so avoiding sunlight became an instinct for better survival.
The police officers on the Umbrella defense line, who had made it through until dawn, breathed a sigh of relief; at least their pressure wasn't as great.
At this time, the entire Western Federation began broadcasting news of the Raccoon City riot. In a country where gunfights happen every day, such news was not uncommon and did not attract much attention.
The decision regarding Raccoon City had already been made: the sterilization plan would be launched one week later, on the morning of the first day of October. This period would be for collecting evidence of Umbrella's crimes.
It was also a time for testing and collecting biological weapons. Both Umbrella and the federal military were racing against time.
A week was ample time. During this period, the Guard would seal off the entire Raccoon City and establish isolation points, receiving citizens escaping from Raccoon City and conducting related propaganda.
This propaganda was to prevent them from revealing the cause and facts of the zombie outbreak, which currently would not benefit the Federation, as the Federation also had collusion and cooperation with Umbrella.
Even if Umbrella were overthrown, the Federation itself would be affected by public opinion. A trial was necessary, but one blow might not be enough to kill it.
Umbrella's shareholders are spread across the globe, making it unrealistic to oppose them. Only by having the whole world boycott Umbrella, with everyone kicking them while they're down, can Umbrella be dealt with. Relying solely on the Western Federation would be too difficult.
It would be better to control public opinion and demand compensation from Umbrella. If they could obtain data on the Tyrant, developing Tyrants to replace soldiers on the battlefield in the future, prioritizing citizen lives, and reducing casualties, would be an excellent way for any faction's candidates to win votes.
This eerie calm persisted. This period was a time for various forces to quickly extract benefits from Raccoon City. Once the time came, a missile would arrive, and everything would turn to ashes.
"How much longer do we have to hold on?" Leon picked up his canteen. This was water filtered through a sterilization device, safe to drink.
"No news yet. Mayor Warren went to Pentagon City for a meeting. Chief Brian is nowhere to be found. Now we are under the command of the Guard; we do whatever they say," Chief Marvin explained.
"Don't think too much. Come, have a drink. I just found this red wine; it's not poisoned, drink with confidence. I think we should continue rescuing citizens while we have the time." Kevin walked over with the red wine.
"I don't know how many monsters are left. I heard the roads in the north are mostly destroyed. The monsters there are even more ferocious, and it's not realistic to take citizens out. There are mutated crows attacking in the sky. I've already found out that over seven helicopters have crashed." Enrico walked over, looking very tired after a major battle.
Fortunately, they hadn't encountered the Nemesis here. If it weren't for the Thanatos Tyrant blocking the Nemesis and inexplicably fighting, whether they could even drink here would be a question.
Chapter 229: Hunk, the God of Death, Recruited by the Military
Hunk kicked Jettingham away, dodged Marisa's grenade attack, and ducked into a room.
His assistant, Lone Wolf, and team member, Ghost, relied on the corner to exchange fire with other members of the Echo Six Team. Both sides, upon seeing the other's armament, attacked in unison.
Both sides were elites: one side was the battle-hardened Marine Corps, and the other was a special operations team that carried out missions under various difficult conditions.
"Who exactly are you people? Raccoon City has entered its controlled period. Immediately lay down your weapons and surrender, or you will be considered terrorists and shot," Jettingham shouted from behind a laboratory table.
"Less talk, don't block our way. We are Umbrella's armed forces. What do you, the Marine Corps, intend to do by invading our company's assets without reason? Expect a court summons." Hunk knew clearly that this was on company territory.
"Hmph, this place has already been taken over. Now, put down your weapons and surrender; do not attempt to resist," Jettingham continued to shout.
