"In our line of work, there are only a few top-tier individuals, so it's impossible not to know them." David took the part and installed it.
Chapter 245: The Promise of the Mature Ada
"Her? I don't know much about her, but every mission she's accepted, she's never failed. This is my business card. If you have a commission that needs handling, you can call me. There won't be a discount, but I can ensure your commission is completed to the best of my ability." David suddenly pulled out a slip of paper with an email and a phone number.
Eddie took the slip of paper, snapped a photo of it, sent it back to the cruise ship, and then burned the paper. He pulled out a test tube vaccine from behind him. "This is a vaccine. Take one shot, and it guarantees you won't turn into a zombie."
David thought for a moment, took the injection gun, gave himself a shot in the arm, and then returned it. "Thanks. Is this outbreak spread through water? The virus can't be airborne."
"You can think of it as similar to how AIDS spreads. Just try your best to survive. Only by living can you truly win." Eddie stood up and left with a flourish. He had confirmed that this person was not an enemy and could even be used, just like Billy, who had already gone to the Middle East.
Ada had been busy with something during this time and had just returned. When she saw David, a hint of surprise flashed in her beautiful eyes.
"Did you see an old colleague of yours?" Eddie leaned against the wall and chuckled.
Ada took the cigarette Eddie had been smoking and leaned against the wall, smoking it herself. She had no qualms; rapid metabolism brought hunger, and one of its benefits was not having to worry about leaving a cigarette smell.
"Not exactly a colleague. We're all in this line of work, so we naturally have some understanding and contact. After leaving this time, what are your plans?" Ada suddenly felt a bit melancholic.
"Continue to develop and make money, earn a little cash for research, and incidentally, give you a place to stay." Eddie laughed heartily.
Ada looked at Eddie very seriously, then shook her head. "Thank you. I won't forget you. I promise you, I won't find a boyfriend and I won't get married. Now isn't the time. After you deal with Simmons, I'll consider it."
"Why do you suddenly dislike Simmons?" Eddie became interested. Was this his personal charm?
"Do you know what will happen here in four days? It will be razed to the ground, and Simmons is orchestrating all of it. I know it's the most correct course of action, but I can't tolerate such disregard for human life. Would you do such a thing?" Ada suddenly looked into Eddie's eyes; if he lied, it would be visible in his eyes.
"My dream has never required the sacrifice of others. If there is, they are enemies. As long as others don't provoke me, I won't do such a thing. However, who can guarantee such things, right?" Eddie didn't lie; he spoke the truth.
Hearing the man's explanation, Ada curved a smile. "You're still the same as before, naive, cute, and a little foolish. Promise me, don't die. If you die, everything will be gone."
"I can guarantee that. I won't die; I'll live well." Eddie said confidently, then suddenly changed the subject, asking, "Can I ask something?"
Ada flicked away her finished cigarette and blew a smoke ring. "Ask away."
"What changed your impression of me?" Eddie really wanted to know the answer. At least before this, Ada always subtly used him as a tool, which was typical of Ada.
"Because you saved me. Without your vaccine, I might have died, or perhaps turned into a monster. So, don't die, and don't make me dislike you, okay?" Ada said softly.
"No problem, then shouldn't you give me a reward?" Eddie was pushing his luck a bit.
"Go ask your Karena for a reward, haha." Ada left only a fragrant breeze, walking further and further away.
The departure time was half an hour later than expected, but everything was worth it. Under David's repairs, the two damaged main battle tanks started up again. With two tanks, they could even contend with a Tyrant.
As for the Licker, its huge claws couldn't even scratch the tank's armor.
"Let's go!" The Captain made an advancing tactical gesture. The Guard was in front, protecting the civilian survivors in the middle, while the surviving agents protected the outer perimeter.
Eddie and the others were positioned at the very back, the best spot. They could detect any disturbances immediately and had an easier escape route.
The roar of the huge engine attracted the zombies. In the tank's machine gun control position, an elite soldier was in control. The large-caliber machine gun, comparable to a Gatling, cut the zombies on both sides in front into two.
Occasionally, a Licker appeared, only to be cut in half by machine gun bullets, deader than dead.
However, there didn't seem to be many zombies on the road, either they had dispersed or had been eliminated by humans.
All factions' targets converged on the Waste Disposal Plant, which had become a focal point.
Large numbers of Web Spinners were deployed here, weaving spiderwebs, ready to hunt. Frozen Hunters were also lying in wait, and at every corner, there were newly developed plant weapons. Giant flytraps, which had rapidly metabolized and grown after absorbing T-Virus contaminated water!
On the Highway, armored personnel carriers moved slowly, followed by large trucks pulling a big cargo container, seemingly hiding some kind of weapon inside.
Ten tanks led the way, equipped with vehicle-mounted missiles. This armament was beyond what a Tyrant could shake. Even without armed helicopters, this configuration alone was enough for a large-scale regional conflict.
"Osprey One is in position." A hundred-person squad arrived at the Waste Disposal Plant. Fully armed soldiers aimed their assault rifles at the processing plant gate, with tank support behind them.
"Flying Fox Two is in position!" Another hundred-person squad arrived on the left side of the Waste Disposal Plant, ready for armed confrontation.
This force of nearly seven hundred men surrounded the Waste Disposal Plant and remained hidden, seemingly not wanting Umbrella personnel to discover them.
Chapter 246: Old Teammates Meet Again
"You're just a big trap! You're the real big trap. Eat more, what you've given isn't enough to replenish you, is it!" Svetlana snorted, sounding a bit jealous.
"What are you talking about? I'm serious. Sergei just called me and told me to go to the Waste Disposal Plant to deal with the approaching Federal Guard. I refused." Eddie explained the situation.
The driver was Ada. "Deal with the Federal Guard? If you really did that, you could forget about living openly in the Federation ever again."
"That's not a big deal. If this area doesn't work, I can move to the next. But there's no need. I could do that, but I don't want to be threatened. This Umbrella ship is already rotten. What I need to do is jump off this ship, then give those who fall into the water a bag of cement!" Eddie snorted.
Cement only adds weight when it meets water, and the final result is naturally that the people who fall into the water are sunk into the sea.
"Why don't you choose to inherit Umbrella's assets? It could significantly shorten your research progress." Svetlana asked a question she had pondered for a long time without understanding.
"I have hands and feet; do I need to inherit a family business? Umbrella is not a good thing. Why bear a bad name and covet a little money? As long as I get their core data, with my intelligence, I can develop some medicine and make a fortune, allowing you all to raise children at home in peace." Eddie's expression grew more proud as he spoke.
Thump! Svetlana had no choice but to tap the man's forehead with her finger. "Wake up, you're still in Raccoon City, surrounded by so many monsters. Can you please not daydream like this in front of us? It makes you look so pathetic!"
Something seemed to have been encountered ahead; after a brief stop, they continued forward.
Mikhail patted his good friend's shoulder. "Hey, Lau Xiu, you're still alive. Not dying is a gain."
"Of course I'm fine, living well." Lau Xiu was a tall Russian, muscular, and like Nikolai, a special forces captain skilled in behind-enemy-lines operations.
Lau Xiu suddenly whispered, "Mikhail, I received orders from Sergei to take the opportunity to kill a guy named Eddie. You said he developed a vaccine? Should I make a move?"
Mikhail looked around, then shook his head. "It's best not to. They have evidence against Umbrella, and he saved me. You know if we get bitten by those ghastly things, we'll turn into ghastly things too. Comrade, for my sake, give up this mission."
Lau Xiu nodded. "Alright, since I owe you. What are your plans?"
"Escape, then get away from Umbrella. Umbrella is a place of trouble. What we've done is enough to earn the money they gave us. Let's not get involved in the struggles of the upper class." Mikhail offered his advice.
"Okay, I'll listen to you." Lau Xiu nodded, handed over a slip of paper, and then left.
Soon, two hours later, it was three in the morning, approaching the time when humans are most sleepy.
An Umbrella-marked helicopter flew from a distance to the abandoned processing plant and slowly descended. Spencer was pushed off the helicopter; he had come to personally watch his show.
Sergei saluted Spencer. "Chairman, it's too dangerous here. I don't recommend you come here."
"No matter, I've come to watch your performance. You may proceed as usual. Today I will retreat with you. This is your queue time, Comrade General, unleash your art of war." Spencer waved his hand, speaking cruel truths in his aged voice.
Hundreds of lives, in Spencer's eyes, weren't even worth a crumb.
"This is Osprey One, target helicopter has entered the Waste Disposal Plant, please advise." The White Captain asked.
