"Nothing, a friend of mine, Jessica, got injured, and it reminded me that I still need to develop more medicines," Eddie casually offered an excuse.
"Oh, I see. Actually, you can call me Sheila. My friends all call me that. Only strangers call me Jessica." Sheila laughed heartily. Looking at her appearance, no one would know she was a multi-faceted spy.
"Alright, if there are no issues, let's set off early, deal with those monsters, and then come back for dinner," Eddie suggested.
Rachel nodded, "This is our plan: the special forces team will lead the way, with the main force slowly advancing behind, gradually eliminating the enemies."
"I have no objections," Eddie shrugged.
Sheila and Parker also had no objections. What objections could they possibly have? Their superior had already spoken. To have objections now would be asking for death.
Assistant Cindy also changed into a special combat uniform. After taking off her business suit, she looked quite heroic. Her skin was exceptionally good, thanks to the T-Virus's enhancement.
Idonia is a very small region, constantly plagued by war. This is typical in the Middle East; there are wars every day, fighting back and forth, but no one starves to death, precisely because the region is rich in oil.
Eddie walked in front, carrying a submachine gun. The environment here featured houses with distinctive ethnic customs, not too tall, only three or four stories. They were all built with gravel bricks and tiles, with an exterior paint that suggested wind and dust.
The streets were quite narrow, and in the distance, one could still hear residents crying out and pleading, mixed with some gunshots.
Helicopters began to ascend, scanning the town for possible monsters, while the special forces team advanced on the ground. Every house was opened and inspected; they were either empty or contained only dead bodies.
Eddie, however, noticed something different. He found that the civilians who died in the houses were not shot, but died naturally, with no visible injuries.
A bad thought flashed through his mind, "Rachel, all the corpses in those houses need a shot to the head. Those people might already be infected."
"Ugh!" A non-human cry came from a house, and almost all the houses they had just passed had such sounds.
Rachel quickly gave the order, "Everyone, pay attention! There are zombies in the houses. Shoot them in the head. Also, any dead bodies you see must be shot in the head. Advance slowly!"
Thanks to the timely order, many zombies had just begun to reanimate, wanting to prey on humans, but were killed by the prepared soldiers.
The Federal Bio-Terrorism Countermeasure Committee soldiers were well-equipped. With the weakness identified, these zombies were simply cannon fodder. They posed little threat, unless they were in dark corners; otherwise, they wouldn't be attacked.
A trace of doubt and curiosity flashed in Sheila's beautiful eyes. Why did this man know all this? "Dr. Eddie, was everything in Raccoon City a nightmare for you?"
"Not really. I learned a lot in Raccoon City. Although Raccoon City is no more, I occasionally miss my time there. I met many friends there. Although many died, quite a few escaped. These memories are not pleasant, but they urge me to strive to live on," Eddie said with a smile.

Sheila lowered her head thoughtfully, "It seems I still have a lot to learn from you."
"There's nothing to learn, just try hard to survive, that's all," Eddie said, then directly twisted the neck of a zombie that pushed open a door.
Cindy, on the other hand, delivered a powerful kick, sending the zombie flying. The sweet-looking Cindy was incredibly aggressive with her first move, seemingly influenced by the departed female instructor Svetlana; her attacks were fierce, leaving almost no room for escape.
Parker, behind her, shook his head. Women are indeed unreliable. They look beautiful but are actually very brutal. Fortunately, this wasn't a'son-severing kick,' otherwise, just seeing it would make him break out in a cold sweat.
They advanced slowly, encountering no other bioweapons; at most, there were only zombies. Zombies are merely low-level infected byproducts and cannot be considered proper bioweapons. As long as one is ruthless enough, a baseball bat can deal with these zombies.
If they cannot be dealt with, it must be because the user is too weak, their stamina can't keep up, and it has nothing to do with the suggestion.
"Didn't you say there were other bioweapons here? Why are there only zombies and no other monsters?" Eddie asked, puzzled.
"We are just following orders. We don't know either. Perhaps the captain knows more," Parker replied.
"Then I'll go find her. Cindy, let's go." Eddie said, then left the two's sight and began to approach Rachel's direction.
After walking for five minutes, more zombies suddenly appeared here, and they were all in an alley. Something seemed to be rapidly streaking across the sky, and shadows appeared on the ground.
In a house at the end of the alley, a beautiful woman, suppressing a cough, was hiding with a ten-year-old child. They dared not make a sound, fearing that the zombies outside would hear them.
Wandering zombies are very sensitive to sound. If their eyes haven't degenerated, they can still see some prey and will pursue them.
Hunters appeared! These creatures, a mixture of animal and human genes, are bloodthirsty, cruel, and easily controlled. They are cheap to produce and fearless, making them excellent troublemakers.
"Be careful, those monsters have appeared. Cindy, are you scared? If you are, I can give you some courage," Eddie said with a mischievous smile.
Hearing the man's teasing, Cindy lowered her head a little shyly, "No, I'm not scared. With you, I feel very safe."
"You're really flattering me, but it's also true!" Eddie shamelessly admitted, seeing it as an affirmation of his personal charm.
Around them, screams continued to echo, followed by the sound of grinding bones and tearing flesh.
Listening to the gunshots, it seemed that the local armed forces were clashing with the rebel forces. Without heavy firepower, trying to kill Hunters with pistols was unrealistic.
Eddie was almost fooled at first. The idea of clearing levels with just a pistol and a knife was complete nonsense. Here, Hunters would wipe out a squad armed with submachine guns.
There were about eighty zombies in the alley, blocking the innermost house. Eddie, using special tactical glasses, could see two red dots inside the house, seemingly humans, or possibly zombies—in any case, living beings.
Bang! A gunshot rang out, knocking down a zombie. "Eddie, we meet again."
It was none other than Marine Corps Second Lieutenant Billy, whom Eddie had met on the Zodiac Express!
"Long time no see. You didn't call me for a job, so it seems you're living quite freely." Eddie replied while forcefully kicking a zombie away, knocking down a large group.
"I'm not used to asking for favors, unless absolutely necessary. Let's solve the problem here first. The person you asked me to find is in the alley," Billy said, pointing into the alley.
Billy worked as a mercenary in the chaotic Middle East, earning money. With the skills he learned during his previous service, he was doing quite well here. He also accepted a mission from Eddie to find two people.
Eddie leaving the main force to act alone was entirely due to meeting Billy; meeting Rachel was just an excuse to leave.
It was time to hunt again. Eddie's group of three began close-quarters combat. Besides Billy using a tactical dagger, Eddie and Cindy used no weapons, only wearing tactical gloves.
He broke a zombie's neck with a punch, then sent another lunging zombie flying, clearing some space in front of him to avoid being surrounded by zombies.
After being enhanced by the serum, Eddie occasionally had violent tendencies, which he would sometimes alleviate with Christine's help, though it wasn't as quick as killing.
The gentle Cindy also became murderous, striking mercilessly every time. She was also venting the side effects of the viral enhancement. When she occasionally felt like hitting someone, she would hit them to her heart's content.
Eddie's exaggerated arm strength astonished Billy. Even though zombies were relatively easy to deal with, knocking down zombies three meters in front with a single punch was a bit exaggerated. At least he couldn't do it; his single arm could barely exert three hundred pounds of force, but only for an instant, not sustained.
Thump! Thump! Thump! Every wall was broken. Eddie paid no attention to preserving the buildings. For these zombies, he either twisted their necks or slammed them against the walls.
With Eddie clearing the way, it took less than two minutes. None of the eighty-plus zombies survived. The ground was covered with headless zombies, and a fishy smell (foul, fishy smell) emanated from them.
"The person you're looking for is up ahead, but I don't know if they're still alive," Billy said, pointing forward.
Eddie arrived in front of a small bungalow, knocked on the door, "I am Eddie from the Federal Bio-Terrorism Countermeasure Committee. We are here to help clear this area of bio-monsters. If you are still alive, please make a sound."
A faint sound came, as if someone was peeking inside, then asked a question. After receiving confirmation from a female voice, the person opened the room door.
What appeared was a boy with a buzz cut, followed by a woman wearing a headscarf, about thirty years old. Her face was unclear, but her demeanor was good, very gentle, at least not a sharp or harsh woman.

"Thank you for saving us, mother and son. If there's nothing else, we'd like to stay home; it's too chaotic outside." The woman's voice was pleasant and gentle.
