Chapter 219 - 219

Britney also smiled and shook Eddie's hand, her elegant finger scratching his palm. "Hello, handsome, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Upon entering, it was all about eating and drinking. Nothing was said; they ate first, then chatted leisurely after the meal.

After eating and drinking his fill, Eddie contentedly lit a cigarette. Jessica personally went to the kitchen to cook, as her appetite was astonishing, and it was better for her to cook for herself. Britney always made small portions, did she think everyone needed to diet like her?

"Alright, what do you want to do?" Eddie took a small sip of dark skinned tea, looking relaxed.

"Help me regain my position as the family leader. I know you have a way. I must deal with Simmons. That guy did something unforgivable to me; I want him dead!" Kaplan's eyes became incredibly furious, as if recalling some past encounter.

"What did he do to you? Why are you so emotional?" Eddie was a little curious. He had only failed in a power struggle; why such a strong reaction?

"Simmons' subordinates, during an attack, castrated him," Britney said, walking over and sitting next to Eddie on the sofa, smiling.

Pfft! Eddie spat all his tea onto Kaplan's head. "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm very sorry, I didn't mean to. I was just shocked. I'm very sorry to hear that news. Simmons is truly cruel!"

Kaplan, drenched in dark skinned tea, was surprisingly calm. He wasn't angry at his wife's attitude. "It's alright. I've told you my secret. I hope you can help me."

"But if I help you, my effort and income won't be proportional," Eddie said, tapping on a calculator, then showing the display to him. "My return on investment is only about seven percent. I'd still lose a lot."

"I also have my wife, Britney. She's very beautiful, isn't she? As long as you help me, she's yours," Kaplan said with a crazed look in his eyes. He had nothing left and could only use everything as a bargaining chip.

Chapter 364: Kaplan's Strong Wife

"Are you playing with me? Let's talk about something serious. You no longer have supporters in the family, so it's hard to make a comeback. However, to contend with Simmons, it can still be done from another angle," Eddie said confidently.

Push Kaplan out to challenge Simmons, while secretly delivering a sneak attack to Simmons from behind! This plan was perfect, very suitable.

"What should I do?" Kaplan became interested. He knew this young man had a way.

"Wait, what do you mean? Are you saying I'm not good enough for you?" Britney was displeased.

Eddie raised an eyebrow. "When men are talking, women should ideally keep quiet. Sit there; I'll deal with you properly later!"

Britney was somewhat taken aback. She came from a noble background; even Kaplan wouldn't speak to her like that. Was this man insane?

Kaplan was expressionless. "I survived thanks to Britney. Her family also has some influence in the Federation, and her father is a member of the Senate. However, he doesn't support me now and has never thought highly of me."

Eddie hadn't expected Britney to have such a background. This woman was also not simple.

"Do you not have children?" Eddie suddenly asked.

"No," Kaplan shook his head, his heart sinking, as if something bad was about to happen.

"That's a digression, let's not talk about it. Back to business, you can contend with Simmons from another field. I know a place with rich resources. You now need an opportunity to bring that place under the Federation's control and extract its oil," Eddie suddenly thought of a good idea.

"Is there another way? The extraction industry takes too long. I need immediate results, and not necessarily a very high position, just a little support will do," Kaplan gave up on that idea.

"I see, let me think," Eddie leaned back on the sofa, smoking, his mind working furiously.

"I've got it. Are you afraid of death?" Eddie suddenly asked a seemingly nonsensical question.

"I'm already a eunuch, what do I have to fear?" Kaplan said self-deprecatingly. His desire for revenge had never ceased. He would pay any price to get revenge on Simmons.

"General Morgan will suppress the rioters within the Federation and suspects these guys are involved in Umbrella's biochemical weapon trade. You can choose to lead the charge, and I'll have the newspapers report your news. This will boost your reputation and help salvage your terrible image," Eddie said, blowing smoke rings.

He handed over his empty teacup, lifting his chin. "Pour me some tea!"

Britney raised her delicate eyebrows. Was he preparing to exercise a husband's rights? Realizing she could only rely on this man, she huffed unsatisfactorily, took the cup, and walked into the kitchen in her high heels. "Hmph!"

"After my reputation is boosted, then what? What should I do?" Kaplan pressed, his intelligence not enough to keep up with Eddie's train of thought.

After that, you'll become a happy father! Eddie only teased in his mind; he certainly couldn't say it like that, and if it couldn't be done, that was another matter. "The Pharmaceutical Association will form a new alliance to counter biochemical weapons. Once your prestige is established, you can join as a consultant. Reputation is very important. Show yourself off from time to time, let the residents of the alliance know you. Elections are coming soon, you understand!"

"You want me to run for president?" Kaplan's eyes were a little suspicious, which made Britney's eyes light up as she walked in with the dark skinned tea. If that happened, wouldn't she be the First Lady?

Eddie unceremoniously put his arm around Britney. "Are you dreaming? Running for president? You don't have the capital for that. You can still contend for other positions. As long as you perform well this time and join the Biochemical Terror Defense and Assessment Alliance Organization formed by the Pharmaceutical Association, perhaps your reputation, let's talk about regaining your lost reputation first."

Kaplan raised an eyebrow, watching Eddie's actions, slightly angry but forced to swallow his pride. "Wouldn't that be going against that guy Morgan?"

"Not necessarily. The Committee is Federation. But the Biochemical Terror Defense and Assessment Alliance Organization is global; the European Union will be responsible for this organization, and it's impossible for the Federation to dominate. In the enemy's camp, providing intelligence to the Federation can also solidify your position in the family. With a reputation, operating something else becomes very simple," Eddie smiled confidently.

"Okay, I'll do it. When do we start?" Kaplan gritted his teeth and decided to go for it. A gamble now could lead to a big payoff later.

"I've already contacted Morgan. Go make the call now. Make it outside, and come back after you've settled things. Be humble. If he refuses because of your tone, then I can't help you either. You'll just have to wait for death," Eddie said with a cold laugh.

Waiting for death was a very accurate outcome. Once Simmons settled the unrest in the Federation, it would be time for him to deal with Kaplan. At that point, Kaplan, without money, power, or connections, would be at his mercy; perhaps an accident would lead to his demise.

Kaplan had no choice but to pick up his phone. He could imagine the venomous tone General Morgan would use to mock him, but for revenge against Simmons, he had to endure it.

After Kaplan left, Eddie asked, "Your family doesn't support Kaplan anymore?"

Britney rolled her eyes. "It was a political marriage from the start. The family hostile to us chose Simmons, so we could only choose Kaplan."

"Alright, no wonder. Since it's a transaction, I need to make my terms clear. Pretty faces are a dime a dozen; the Federation is so big, they're everywhere. So, you'd best be smart. I'm the kind of person who's upfront about the bad, then the good. Do you have any questions?" Eddie asked with a wicked smile.

Britney shook her head. "Of course not. That idiot Kaplan only messes things up; he's truly foolish. In fact, he was already abnormal before he married me."

"What do you mean?" Eddie looked puzzled.

"He's a… philosopher!" Britney spat.

Eddie was a bit confused. "I remember he had some scandalous news, didn't he?"

"If you don't create some scandalous news, how will you get attention?" Britney scoffed.

"Alright, then you must be very free," Eddie said, speechless. What kind of situation was this?

Britney took out Eddie's cigarette and lit one for herself. "I'm not like those foolish women. I don't pursue those kinds of things. You might not believe it, but I've never dated a boy."

"What's so strange about that? I didn't have any early relationships before I became an adult either," Eddie teased.

Chapter 365: Carla's Schemes and Calculations

If Eddie hadn't said that Kaplan still had a use, capable of blocking Simmons' attacks, General Morgan would not have supported an opponent.

When Kaplan returned to the living room, he found that Britney and Eddie had already disappeared. Although he had been somewhat prepared, he still felt a wave of disgust and anger, followed by a strange sense of excited pleasure.

After a night's rest, Eddie left. Kaplan also departed with him; this guy had slept on the sofa last night, likely not having slept at all, which resulted in him not being in good spirits.

Britney was also in the car. She would take a midday flight to the headquarters near the Mediterranean to work. Although it meant being far from her Federation homeland, it was also the safest method.

Kaplan didn't know what to say. He had made his own decision, and he would see it through, even if it meant crawling.

The radiant Britney hummed a little tune from time to time, her high heels dangling from her toes, clearly indicating that her new job had greatly improved her mood.
