"You look beautiful like this." Eddie looked at Alexia's profile; there was no inexplicable arrogance, just a subtle demeanor that naturally exuded the elegance of a noble lady and a sense of superiority from her exceptional intelligence. This Alexia was indeed very attractive.
Alexia lightly stroked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Stop with the empty flattery. I'm asking you about serious matters."
Eddie smiled, looking at the empty underground. "I plan to continue research on the improved G-Virus. Pure physical strength has already reached its limit. Unless there's a qualitative change, simple muscular energy is the maximum biological cells can achieve."
"You're quite clever; you know what to do. Do you have any goals?" Alexia asked with a smile. She liked this about Eddie—he was intelligent and had foresight.
"I heard that Umbrella's French Branch is researching a TG disease, incorporating some principles from electric eels. This allows it to create a current characteristic, breaking through the effect of pure biological weapons, and no longer relying solely on muscular strength for combat power," Eddie explained his plan.
That virus was jokingly called the'she-male virus' by many, but it was just a misunderstanding. Viruses could be altered according to human will, and the matter itself was quite miraculous. A little dedicated research would yield conclusions.
"Oh! Are you saying that after reaching a certain level, it begins to change qualitatively? An interesting idea, but why choose electric eels? Aren't you afraid of turning into a monster?" Alexia was a little curious. Every conversation with the man in front of her managed to surprise her.
Eddie suddenly reached out and flicked Alexia's nose, like a young couple. "That's Umbrella's idea, not mine. I won't turn into a monster, and I don't want to become a god. I want to live happily ever after with the people I care about."
"Oh, if you do that again, I'll get angry!" Alexia huffed in annoyance, summoning the vines from underground and waving her small fists to protest.
"Getting angry is useless. We're friends, and this is a way of greeting, well, one of the ways, a way only I can use," Eddie explained seriously.
"Pfft, why are you so annoying?" Alexia was exasperated into laughter. As she laughed, she also felt a little emotional, realizing she seemed much happier after waking up than before she fell asleep. Was this what 'home' felt like?
"They are just mimicking the electricity generation principle of electric eels, not actually turning into electric eels. This kind of thing isn't a simple one-plus-one; it requires dedicated research, and I estimate it won't be a short time. If there's nothing else to do, I'll focus entirely on the research," Eddie nodded.
"Understood. First, we need to solve the island's resource problem. I've found the climate here is good, near the equator, often getting plenty of sun. Using solar energy can solve many problems," Alexia suggested. A serious queen was definitely an excellent helper.
She had been convinced by Eddie to treat this place as her own enterprise and also her home, maintaining it with care.
In the following time, Alexia was responsible for construction according to Becca's designs. Being able to command vines to work, she was undoubtedly the biggest labor force. Some things didn't even require her to do them personally; she could accomplish them using vines.
This construction speed made even professional construction teams feel ashamed. When fire was needed, blood combined with specially secreted substances would produce flames.
It was no longer just simple blood contact with air producing flames, as bleeding and producing fire simultaneously wasn't very convenient when handling certain private matters.
Eddie, on the other hand, conducted a second examination for each team member, strengthening them. Every member received it, except for pregnant women.
Since they couldn't be strengthened simultaneously, it was done in sequence. Even Excella had to put aside her work and return to the cruise ship for examination and strengthening.
This shrewd woman had a unique talent in business and had already monopolized logistics in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The shopping website was also handed over to Excella for management, and under her planning, countless merchants wanted to join.
Huge business opportunities represented wealth. Every day, noble members wanted to invite Excella to dinner, wanting to build connections. No one pursued Excella; her identity was clearly Eddie's wife, and they even had a marriage certificate.
The Travis Family formally married off their daughter. Anruka handled this matter very properly, keeping it low-key yet known to everyone. This was specifically to send Excella away so she wouldn't compete with him for his position. Besides Excella, other competitors were like dirt in his eyes, not worth mentioning.
Chapter 382: Let's Go Get the Marriage Certificate
The equipment on the small island had been installed, purchased through Excella's channels, completed, and then transported to the island.
Eddie was observing the electrical effects of electric eels, which was very helpful for his further research. To continue the plan, he needed to elevate it, like Jessica and Lisa, who possessed special abilities.
Excella walked over in high heels. Today was her turn for strengthening. "Husband, I have some news to tell you, just investigated."
"What news?" Eddie looked up and asked. If it were just useless news, she wouldn't have come specifically to say such nonsense.
"Svetlana seems to be pregnant. Do you want to go see her?" Excella said with a smile, her beautiful eyes flickering a few times, with both jealousy and anticipation.
"What!" Eddie's expression was a little surprised and uncertain. He hadn't expected that formidable older sister instructor to be pregnant and not tell him!
"Are you surprised? I was surprised at first too. After I found out, I came to tell you. Do you need to go over there? Should I call the people there?" Excella laughed. She was also a little expectant; at least with a child, Eddie, with his character, wouldn't abandon her, which was a kind of insurance.
Eddie was silent for a moment. "I'll go pick her up myself. You go into the cryo-chamber. I'll handle the rest. You've done very well; I'm very satisfied."
Excella smiled apologetically. "As long as Husband is satisfied." After speaking, she took off her high heels and walked into the cryo-chamber for her second strengthening, filled with immense anticipation that she would become even more beautiful and maintain a good figure.
Half a day later, in an ancient city in Eastern Slav Republic, houses were built in clusters, appearing somewhat chaotic. Due to civil unrest, broken houses could occasionally be seen on the streets.
The entire Eastern Slav Republic was divided into two areas: one controlled by wealthy oligarchs, and the other by armed poor commoners fighting.
The place where Svetlana was located was at the center of the conflict. This city experienced battles from time to time, yet it held huge economic interests, serving as a crucial hub connecting both sides. It was also a city ungoverned by either, with a unique operational flow, as if both sides tacitly approved of this invisible rule.
When Eddie arrived, a man was waiting with others.
"Hello, boss. I am Bikash, under President Excella, and the head of Eastern Slav Republic commerce," the man greeted respectfully.
Mysterious Pharmaceutical had developed using a 'empty-handed trick' from the beginning, using other people's vehicles for logistics and other people's stores for sales channels. Except for raw materials, almost everything was borrowed.
After raising funds, they began to monopolize, and there was no shortage of capital. This also meant that the company didn't need to go public, and the boss had greater say. Pleasing the boss was most necessary, and besides, Excella was also a legitimate boss's wife.
"Take me to see the local distributor," Eddie said with a hint of arrogance, nodding.
Led by his subordinate, Eddie quickly arrived at a decent villa. It was a typical Eastern Europe Gothic-style building, looking quite novel.
He pressed the doorbell, and the sound of high heels tapping on the floor approached. Svetlana herself came down to open the door. As she opened it, she saw Eddie, and a flash of joy crossed her beautiful eyes, followed by a chill. "What are you doing here? You're not welcome." She then tried to close the door.
Eddie put his hand out to block the door and easily squeezed in. Jessica and Lisa also followed, then locked the room door from inside.
"I'm here to take you back. You're pregnant. Why didn't you tell me?" Eddie raised an eyebrow, his tone a little displeased.
"Why should I tell you? It has nothing to do with you," Svetlana huffed, turning back to the dining room to drink coffee.
"How does it have nothing to do with me? The child in your belly is mine. Come back with me. This is what I say. Your matters don't need to be rushed; you can do them after giving birth," Eddie persuaded. He was being polite first, then firm. If she didn't listen, then she couldn't blame him for being impolite.
Seemingly hearing the man's tone, Svetlana knew what her 'little husband' would do next. "Okay, but I want to keep the child with me."
"Whatever you want. Just stay alive and well; that's all I ask," Eddie, of course, didn't object. Children, while cute, would be annoying to have around all day. If someone was willing to take care of them, that was naturally the best thing.
Svetlana scoffed. "I don't trust you. I'm afraid you'd spoil him."
"Let's go. Come back with me. I'll have someone look after things here. Oh, before that, let's go to the marriage registry," Eddie said, proudly tilting his head.
Ten minutes later, Svetlana looked at the little red book in her hand with complex emotions. This was a marriage certificate. From today on, she was a married woman.
"Let's go. We can go home now. We'll have the wedding later; it's not the right time now. I want to give you all a better, more perfect wedding," Eddie said, taking Svetlana to board the plane.
"Us?" Svetlana raised an eyebrow. Just a moment ago, she was a little melancholic about getting married so haphazardly, but now she was a bit displeased.
"Yes, other sisters will help you. I don't want to interfere too much with your affairs, and you don't need me to, but you do need help. In the future, if there's anything important, just tell me, and I'll help you," Eddie looked sincerely at the older sister instructor in front of him. She had helped him many times during their time in Raccoon City; calling her a lifesaver wouldn't be an exaggeration, and she even had scars on her back from blocking a G-Creature's attack for him.
"Heh heh," Svetlana suddenly laughed.
"Such happy news is indeed worth celebrating. I know you're very happy." Eddie's expression was also smug. Perhaps he'd have a president for a wife someday.
Svetlana, however, said meaningfully, "I'm not happy because I married you. I'm happy that I don't owe you anymore. Community property, isn't it? Do I need to pay you back? Idiot, you got the short end of the stick."
"It's fine. Anyway, you're already carrying my child. You can use my money however you want. I'm the one who profited. As for you, you profited quite a bit too," Eddie said with a mischievous smile.
Svetlana huffed impatiently and turned her head away. The thought of becoming a mother made her feel very lost; having a child and not having one were two completely different matters.
