Upon arriving at the Chemical Plant's workshop, the lighting was dim. Moreover, there was a heavy stench of blood. Eddie Cai fired a shot directly into a ventilation duct in the darkness, instantly killing the Leaker lurking inside.
Everyone turned on their flashlights and saw that the squad members who had been pursuing them earlier were all dead, looking as if all their blood had been drained. They greatly resembled a specialty product of Egypt: mummies!
"What the hell is this thing?" a Russian Soldier couldn't help but curse in his native tongue.
"It should be a new type of bioweapon. Everyone, be careful. If you encounter anything suspicious, shoot first and ask questions later. Saving bullets is just saving them for someone else to use!" Eddie Cai reminded them.
Chapter 465: Wesker Is So Weak
In the massive factory, not only were new Leaker zombies appearing and disappearing mysteriously, but Zombie Dogs were also confined in some rooms. When soldiers opened the doors, these restrained Zombie Dogs would immediately attack the opening soldiers due to their berserk nature.
They had already lost nearly ten elite armed soldiers just in the exploration phase, which was driving Bromski, the one in charge of the operation, slightly mad.
"Eagle One, Eagle Two, proceed for fire support!" Bromski commanded.
Two armed helicopters rotated their large-caliber mounted machine guns, shattering the hiding spots of the marked monsters in the buildings below.
In comparison, Eddie Cai was very relaxed. Knowing there were Zombie Dogs inside, he stood back from the door and tossed a grenade through the gap above.
Hearing the sound of the explosion and the wails of the Zombie Dogs, they knew it was safe.
This method of opening doors caused everyone around them to follow suit, immediately opening a crack, throwing a grenade inside, and quickly shutting the door.
Relying on this trick, they effectively reduced casualties.
"This Eddie Cai really has some tricks up his sleeve!" Bromski nodded in praise. He was a major financier, someone they couldn't afford to offend.
Twenty minutes later, everyone gathered at the bottom of the factory, where a giant Umbrella logo was displayed on the floor. This was a large elevator that required a specific password to activate.
Eddie Cai looked at the surrounding structures, "We shouldn't go down."
Jill was somewhat reluctant but could only nod, "I'll listen to you."
"But Chris will be in danger, right, Hubby? If we don't go down, can you go instead?" Claire worried. Having been raised by her brother working to earn money, their sibling relationship had always been very good.
"Of course. When I get back, I'm making you take three days off, hehe." Eddie Cai chuckled mischievously, clearly thinking of something naughty.
Claire felt a little shy, "I'll listen to whatever you say."
Inside the elevator area, Eddie Cai found another staircase leading down to the Underground Laboratory.
Jill, Claire, and Wolf Mother—the three women—did not follow him down. Instead, they hunted zombies in the factory. This was partly to clear the threat in the Chemical Plant, and partly to satisfy their murderous tendencies, thereby appropriately reducing the virus's influence on them.
The Underground Laboratory was eighty meters deep. Wesker had also arrived at the Underground Laboratory ahead of time and was currently stealing data from it.
As Wesker attempted to steal the data, he found that the computers here displayed the message: "Server No. 15 has no data." Even the computers had been reset; they lacked an operating system. When turned on, the screen only showed that single message.
The persistent Wesker decided to head to the laboratory's Control Center, but along the way, there were large numbers of infected Spiders and cockroaches. These infected creatures were feeding on zombies. It would not be easy to pass this barrier; he had to endure the disgust.
Meanwhile, the Russian Armed Forces encountered ten Mass-Produced Tyrants here. The battle was difficult due to facing the Tyrants in the somewhat confined underground environment.
These Mass-Produced Tyrants had sharp claws on both hands. Their functional limitations had been removed from the start, and even without protective armor, assault rifle bullets had little effect on them. They only left small white marks, which quickly healed through metabolism.
The Tyrants' sharp claws could easily shred bulletproof vests. With a single swipe, the vests couldn't withstand the force, and the victims were instantly pierced through the heart.
Eddie Cai and Jessica, however, hid to the side and did not engage in combat.
This was where the technical difference between professionals and non-professionals became apparent. When facing the Tyrants, the BSAA and FBC squads handled them easily, using special Riot Shields to advance and restrain them. Snipers in the rear took out specialized Penetrating Bullets and aimed at the constrained Tyrants' heads.
As the sniper rifle fired, the Mass-Produced Tyrant's head was pierced by the high-kinetic energy Penetrating Bullet. Having suffered a severe head injury, it instantly collapsed onto the ground.
The persistent squad members then finished the job with high-powered weapons like the Desert Eagle. Even if the enemy was dead, they had to confirm the kill; otherwise, they wouldn't forgive themselves.
The combat capabilities of the two sides were not on the same level. The Russian armed squad lost seven men just to kill one Tyrant, and that was with the help of BSAA members. If they hadn't received help, the thirty-person team would likely have been completely wiped out.
All the footage was being recorded. Nikolai stood in the Monitoring Room, sneering. When he suddenly saw Wesker heading toward the Main Control Room, he couldn't help but mock, "Truly an Unkillable Cockroach, surviving so tenaciously?"
When Wesker tried to open the Monitoring Room door, the door suddenly burst open, and a Tyrant wearing specialized Gauntlets punched Wesker, sending him flying.
The Ivan-type Tyrant, wearing Tactical Analysis Glasses, stood before Wesker. Nikolai walked out with a cold smile, "It seems you really won't give up. You are merely a tool. As a tool, don't fantasize about staging a comeback. Remember your place."
"Nikolai!" Wesker's stamina quickly recovered, and he immediately grabbed his weapon and continuously pulled the trigger.
The Ivan-type Tyrant stepped forward, blocking all the bullets instantly.
Nikolai, meanwhile, shot Wesker in the arm. "You truly are useless. Why are you here? To seek death? You are still too weak, pathetically weak."
"Hmph, I came to claim my share of the assets!" Wesker said furiously.
"Your share? Haha, what a massive joke. You don't actually think you're Spencer's illegitimate son, do you? You are truly foolish. Fine, I'm in a good mood today, so I won't kill you. Do you really think you're an individual? You are just a tool, and I disdain laying hands on a tool. Let's go." Nikolai turned and left, taking the Ivan-type Tyrant with him.
The reason he didn't kill Wesker was entirely because Wesker could never be cleared of guilt, no matter what he did. He could never shake off the blame for betraying his teammates and testing bioweapons in Raccoon City.
Since he was born an Umbrella person and would die an Umbrella ghost, he might as well continue to openly draw fire for Umbrella.
Sergei's plan was to maximize utility. As for killing Wesker? Sometimes, making the opponent wish they were dead is the best choice.
Eddie Cai, however, appeared quickly. "Yo, isn't that Wesker?"
"You heard all that?" Wesker clenched his fists, seemingly ready to kill to silence him.
Jessica suddenly shattered the solid Concrete Wall with a single punch. Eddie Cai, relying on his wife's power, laughed heartily, "Consider your own strength before thinking about making a move."
Chapter 466: The Laser Corridor Can Be Passed Like This
"It seems you really are different. Did you use Viral Enhancement too?" Wesker sneered.
"It seems you're not entirely stupid. The true effect of the virus was originally to strengthen the body; what else did you think it was for? Don't be so foolish. Bioweapons are merely a derivative product of this plan." Eddie Cai pulled out a cigarette, and Jessica snapped her fingers, lighting the cigarette.
This move surprised Wesker; an expert recognizes the trick, and this kind of operation was unprecedented. "What do you want?"
"Me? I came to check on your old flame, Chris, and make sure he doesn't die." Eddie Cai blew a smoke ring.
"You're crazy, don't talk nonsense." Wesker's eyes flickered. It seemed anything related to Chris made him lose his composure.
"By the way, Chris has a girlfriend now, did you know?" Eddie Cai delivered another critical hit.
"Girlfriend? Hmph, you wouldn't want to know who that woman is." Wesker sneered.
"Maybe that's love. I certainly don't envy it at all. What are you doing here? I remember Umbrella has already collapsed. I advise you not to stir up so much trouble. You should retire and go grow vegetables on a farm." Eddie Cai suggested.
Wesker stood up; the injury inflicted by the Ivan-type Tyrant had already healed. "I came to take what is rightfully mine. Nikolai was right; I really should look for the relevant data."
Eddie Cai's expression was strange. "Looking for what? Tell me, maybe I can help you."
Wesker snorted, "No need." After speaking, he quickly ran away.
