Chapter 5 - Something Fell Off

JAY JAY's POV

The air still felt heavy.

Like the words were still hanging there, even after I walked out.

"Excuse me, I need to go."

I didn't wait for a response. Didn't look back. I could feel their eyes on me anyway—burning, judging, curious. Like I was some sort of scene they weren't done watching.

Why does everyone look at me like they already know me?

I tightened my grip on my bag and kept walking.

I didn't know where I was going.

I just needed to go.

The corridor was loud, as usual. People laughing, shouting, calling out names like nothing ever happened.

Normal.

I hated how normal it all looked.

As I passed by, I noticed a group—two girls and a guy, sitting on the floor, sharing food, laughing over something stupid.

For a second, my steps slowed.

Ryan. Rhea.

Us.

It hit so suddenly that I almost stopped walking.

God, I missed them.

The way Ryan would crack the dumbest jokes just to make us laugh. The way Rhea would pretend to be annoyed but still end up smiling.

I swallowed hard and looked away.

Not here.

I don't even remember how I ended up there.

It wasn't exactly a park—just a quiet corner behind one of the buildings. A few benches, some trees, less noise.

Peaceful.

Finally.

I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding and sat down.

For the first time since morning, everything felt... still.

And then I noticed her.

A girl, sitting a little distance away.

Alone.

She wasn't doing anything special. Just sitting there, eating quietly, while reading a book headphones like the world around her didn't matter.

 No noise. No drama.

Just... calm.

I frowned slightly.

Who is she ?

Footsteps passed nearby.

Two girls.

They slowed down for a second.

One of them glanced at the girl.

Then subtly she pulled her bag closer.

"Just watch your stuff," she muttered under her breath.

They walked off like nothing happened.

I blinked.

what?

I looked back at the girl.

She hadn't reacted.

Didn't even look up.

Like she either didn't hear it...

or didn't care.

Okay.

That's not normal.

I leaned back against the bench, still looking at her for a second longer.

Who is she?

And why is everyone acting so weird around her?

For a moment, I thought about going up to her.

Saying something.

Anything.

But then I checked the time.

Break was almost over.

Of course.

I sighed, stood up, and walked back.

Still thinking about her.

The moment I stepped into the classroom, the noise hit me again.

Paper balls everywhere. People shouting. Someone laughing way too loudly.

Chaos.

I didn't say anything.

Didn't look at anyone.

Just walked to my seat, plugged in my earphones, and let the music drown everything out.

If they were watching me, I didn't care.

Or at least, I pretended not to.

The rest of the day passed like that.

Voices. Glances. Whispers.

"She's kinda cold."

"Did you see her in the cafeteria?"

"Damn..."

I ignored all of it.

Let them talk.

By the time the final bell rang, I was done.

Completely done.

I packed my bag and stepped out, expecting maybe something.

A word.

A look.

Anything.

From Aries.

But he didn't say a thing.

Didn't even look at me.

That... stung more than I expected.

Outside, the usual crowd was there.

Section E.

Aries. Keifer. Percy.

Some of them glanced my way.

A few smirked.

"She's the one, right?"

"The cafeteria girl?"

"Damn, attitude."

I rolled my eyes and walked past them.

Not worth it.

"Bye, JJ."

Kiko's voice came from behind.

I paused for a second, then gave a small nod.

"Yeah. Bye."

At least someone was normal.

or

idk

As I walked home, the noise of the day slowly faded.

But one thing didn't.

That girl.

Sitting there.

Calm.

Unbothered.

While the whole world seemed to move around her like she didn't exist.

Or like they were avoiding her.

weird.

I don't even know why I'm thinking about her.

But something about her

felt off.

That girl... something's definitely off, right? 👀

What do you think her story is? 💭
