Chapter 19 - Chapter 17: The Ancient Vendetta

The Echo of Insults

Nandini's apartment was a tomb of silence, broken only by her ragged, hitching breaths. She lay curled on the cold floor, the air still tasting of the expensive whiskey and iron-scented fury Aditya had left behind.

Every word he had spat in that office was a serrated blade in her mind. "Did you already climb into his bed?" "Why don't you try me?" "How could he?" she choked out, her voice raw. "What kind of girl does he think I am? Am I just… a thing to him? A toy for the rich?"

She felt violated by his words more than his touch. She had fallen for a monster. But through the haze of pain, a realization struck her: even if she ran to another life, she could never bury these memories. She couldn't let another man touch her when her soul was already branded by Aditya's fire. With trembling fingers, she called her mother, her voice a hollow whisper. "Ma... the marriage. I can't. Call it off. I can't be with anyone."

The 5,000-Year Wait

In the corner of the ceiling, the darkness began to bleed. The red-eyed shadow wasn't a mere spirit; it was a prehistoric malice. For 5,000 years, it had waited for her soul to be reborn. It had searched through eras, but Nandini's power had been dormant.

It was Aditya's arrival—his ancient, high-tier vibration—that had acted like a sonar. When Nandini made Aditya vulnerable, her own energy had flared like a beacon. The shadow had found her.

"Finally," the darkness hissed, a sound like dry leaves skittering on a grave. "No shield. No king. Only you."

The shadow lunged. Nandini didn't even have time to scream before she was lifted off the floor, pinned against the wall by an invisible, suffocating force. The shadow's red eyes were inches from hers, drinking in her terror.

The Breach

Outside, Arka was pacing. Nandini hadn't shown up for the shoot, and she wasn't picking up. As he reached her door, he didn't just see the wood—he smelled it. Sulfur. Rot. Toxic black magic.

"Nandini!" he roared, slamming his shoulder into the door. He Used his power On the door, the wood splintered.

He burst in to see a nightmare: Nandini suspended against the wall, her face turning pale, gasping for life. Arka's eyes flashed with a latent, golden light. "GET AWAY FROM HER!"

Recognizing Arka's hidden lineage, the shadow shrieked and dissolved into thin air. Nandini collapsed like a broken doll. Arka caught her, his heart shattering. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry I didn't understand," he whispered, tears streaming down his face as he rushed her toward the hospital.

The Cute Complication (Meet Dr. Diya)

At the City Hospital, Arka was a mess—shirt torn, hands shaking. He grabbed the first doctor he saw, a young woman with sharp eyes and a stethoscope that looked like a weapon.

"Please! My friend—she's hurt!" Arka begged.

The doctor froze. She looked at the unconscious girl on the gurney. "Nandini?" Her voice softened for a second before turning into pure ice. She turned to Arka, her finger poking his chest. "You. Who are you?"

"I'm Arka, her photographer—"

"Photographer? Or predator?" The doctor stepped into his space. "I'm Dr. Diya. I've known Nandini since school. I know her well she's not someone who getting beat up by some 'artist' in the middle of the night! Look at these marks! Did she 'pose' for those? I'm calling the police!"

"Wait, you don't understand, it was a shadow—"

"A shadow? Oh, a shadow with hands? A shadow that uses a camera?" Diya hissed, reaching for the security phone. "Save it for the handcuffs, Romeo! You're not leaving until the cops get here!"

"I SAVED HER!" Arka yelled, looking completely bewildered. "Why would I bring her here if I did it? Use your brain, Doctor!"

Diya paused, seeing the genuine, panicked grief in his eyes. For a split second, there was a spark of weird, accidental chemistry—an irresistible force meeting an immovable object—before she turned back to the monitors.

The King's Collapse

Samuel stood in the manor study, listening to the silence. Aditya sat in the dark,he Broke every thing in the room ,his hand still dripping blood onto the rug from the smashed glass.

"She hates me, Samuel," Aditya whispered. "And I deserve it. I behaved like a rascal. I insulted her dignity because I couldn't handle her leaving ,her being with some one else ."

Samuel felt a wave of guilt. Aditya : she mentioned Isabella how did she know about her. "

"Samuel : I have to confess. I called her. I thought it would help you stay away. I didn't know she would go to Nandini."

Aditya's head snapped up, his eyes glowing a dangerous violet. "You brought that viper into her home? While I was busy breaking her heart, you let Isabella poison her mind?"

Before Samuel could answer, his phone buzzed. It was Arka. Samuel's face went white.

"What?" Aditya demanded, standing up.

"Nandini is in the hospital," Samuel whispered. "She was attacked. Arka says... he says she almost didn't make it."

The world ended for Aditya. That was the only way Aditya could describe the feeling. He didn't even wait for a car. He ran. He ran until his lungs burned, his bandaged hand clutched to his chest, realizing that if Nandini died,His World Would Shattered.
