Chapter 371 - Chapter 371: Professor X's Sister, Nova

Chapter 371: Professor X's Sister, Nova

Wolverine, naturally, had zero interest in sticking around in a strange universe he had no connection to — he had a whole life's worth of mutant friends back home, and this place had nothing to offer him.

The mainstream Deadpool had to settle for a compromise: getting Hell's Deadpool and Wolverine to help him convince yet another parallel universe's Wolverine to come along instead. That Wolverine, initially, wanted absolutely no part of it.

The only reason he'd stepped in at all earlier was pure outrage at the mainstream Deadpool desecrating another world's corpse — Hell's Deadpool, though, was genuinely fascinated by the idea of visiting more universes, and dragged him along before he'd even agreed to anything.

Through a mix of pleading and outright manipulation, the three of them managed to drag the self-proclaimed "most cowardly Wolverine in existence" to the TVA, believing they'd finally found a solution to the mainstream Deadpool's collapsing world.

Except Mr. Paradox, playing dirty, ambushed all four of them and tossed the whole group straight into the Void.

Inside the Void, the first person they ran into was a foul-mouthed, profanity-spewing Human Torch from yet another parallel universe.

Right after that, a squad of mutant enforcers moved in to capture them — the mainstream Deadpool had actually been excited to see what Human Torch could do, only to watch him get taken down almost instantly by a fire-wielding operative. And with that, all four of them were captured together.

Which brought them right up to the opening scene — Deadpool's panicked Group Chat message begging Ethan for help.

(You have no idea. I genuinely thought this guy was going to be Captain America, about to drop the classic "Avengers, Assemble" line. Instead it's just Human Torch. Man, talk about a letdown. Captain America, you disappoint me deeply.)

Hell's Kitchen

"So — anyone want to head over there and back these two up?" Ethan asked, scanning the room. He was asking who was willing to go to the Void and pull Deadpool and Wolverine out.

The restaurant was packed — X-Men, Wanda, Tony, and even Daredevil among the crowd.

Nobody seemed all that eager to actually go rescue the two of them, though. The X-Men were willing to go get Wolverine back, sure — but Deadpool was strictly an afterthought.

Ethan looked around, saw no volunteers, and shook his head. Guess Deadpool's social standing wasn't exactly stellar.

"Eh, whatever, those two can't actually die anyway, no big deal. Don't sweat it," Pietro said first — he and Deadpool got along reasonably well, all things considered.

Others around the room nodded in agreement. As far as they were concerned, if it had been anyone else in danger, they'd already be halfway out the door.

"I'll pass on this one — just got back," Strange said, opening a portal straight back to Kamar-Taj. After everything that had gone down with Thanos, he knew exactly how far he still had to go — he wanted to find the Ancient One and learn how to properly master the Time Stone. And having just watched the Loki footage, he was more than aware that the Void was genuinely dangerous territory.

With Strange gone, a few other heroes started drifting toward the exit too.

Right then, Daredevil — Matt Murdock — stood up, clearly preparing to slip out as well. "Company's swamped with work lately, I need to head back."

Ever since joining Hell's Kitchen LLC, his workload had only grown heavier by the day — more and more cases piling up. Honestly, he preferred courtroom battles to street fights these days anyway.

He'd only made it a few steps before stopping cold — one line from Ethan froze him in place.

"Heard Deadpool ran into Elektra in the Void."

"WHAT?!" Matt spun around instantly, his voice trembling with sudden, raw emotion. "I'm coming with you!" In that moment, every hesitation, every reservation, simply vanished — nothing left but longing for the past and a desperate hope for reunion.

Elektra had been Matt's former girlfriend and fellow trainee, in this world killed during a mission gone wrong — a death that had left him drowning in guilt ever since.

"That's not all, Charles. You need to come along on this one too." Ethan's tone left no room for argument, his gaze deep and unwavering, as though he could see straight through to the deepest secrets buried inside a person — turned toward Professor X, Charles Xavier.

At that, Charles's brow furrowed, confusion flickering across his face. He'd already sent the X-Men. Wasn't that enough?

Was there something specific that made his own presence necessary?

"They're up against a genuinely powerful enemy over there," Ethan explained.

That only deepened Charles's confusion. He wasn't stronger than Ethan by any stretch — if Ethan himself couldn't handle whatever this was, there was no way he'd fare any better. And he had plenty on his plate already, including overseeing the construction of the Hogwarts school project.

"With you around, surely you don't need an old man like me," Charles said, smiling.

"The enemy is a mutant. Your sister. Your own blood sister — Nova."

"WHAT? Professor X has a sister?!" The moment Ethan said it, the whole room fell briefly silent.

Every mutant present, Magneto included, stared at Professor X in stunned disbelief.

Not one of them had ever known this seemingly all-wise figure was hiding a secret of this magnitude.

Magneto, especially, shook his head, unable to quite process it. He and Charles had known each other for years — their mutual trust and respect ran deeper than ordinary friendship at this point. And yet Charles had apparently never once mentioned something this significant.

But it wasn't just Magneto who hadn't known. Charles himself hadn't known either.

"That's... impossible," Xavier murmured under his breath.

Ethan explained further. "In another parallel universe, the two of you were fraternal twins. When you were both very young, your sister was cast into the Void — she's spent her entire life there alone ever since. She knows you exist, though."

In the comics, Professor X's sister Nova had gone on to massacre a huge number of mutants; her telepathic ability far exceeded even Charles's own — she'd nearly strangled him in the womb before either of them was even born. Her regenerative ability, too, rivaled Deadpool's and Wolverine's.

Hearing all this, Xavier went quiet for a long moment. He had no way to confirm whether any of it was true — but he knew Ethan had no reason to lie to him about something this serious. Whether or not this was really his sister, there was only one way to find out.

He agreed to accompany Ethan to the Void. And once Magneto heard his old friend was heading off there too, he volunteered on the spot to come along himself. Ethan's account of Xavier's long-lost sister had thoroughly piqued Magneto's interest — and he could already tell the first meeting between Xavier and this sister of his probably wasn't going to be especially warm. He wanted a front-row seat.

The final rescue party headed out: the X-Men, Magneto, Professor X, and Daredevil. Ethan opted not to bring too large a group.

The opponent this time was no minor threat, after all, and the Void itself wasn't exactly friendly territory — it belonged to the God of Stories Loki. Ethan, at his current level, was nowhere close to a match for a God of Stories. Better to proceed with caution.

"All right, everyone — let's move out!"
