Chapter 385: Every Version of Deadpool
Hundreds of Deadpools, each in a different shape and a stranger getup than the last, spread slowly across the entire street like a riot-colored shadow. They didn't march in step, yet they gave off an unmistakable sense of pressure.
About fifty meters from Logan and his team, the uninvited guests suddenly stopped. An eerie silence filled the air, as if time itself had frozen.
At the very front stood a tall, poised female Deadpool. Her skintight combat suit traced perfect curves, and a half-mask covered her face, leaving only a pair of hawk-sharp eyes visible through the narrow slits.
She radiated a powerful presence and unquestionable leadership. She was clearly the boss of this Deadpool army, and every small movement she made carried an authority no one could take lightly.
Right behind her, each Deadpool in the front row looked like a character who'd hopped in from another dimension, every one with a jaw-dropping personality and costume.
There was a Kidpool holding a water gun.
There was a Babypool drinking milk.
Next came a Cowboypool in a wide-brimmed hat and leather vest, riding boots on his feet and all sorts of weapons and tools hanging from his belt, as if he'd just stepped away from a Wild West showdown.
His gaze was steady and deep, a roguish smile tugging at his lips, as though he was ready at any moment to handle anything with his crack shooting and cool head.
Not far off, a Deadpool dressed as a monk, named Zenpool, advanced slowly. He wore a black robe and a hood that showed only half his face, his expression serenely detached from the world.
The staff in his hand gave off an eerie blue glow, and every swing seemed to proclaim his loyalty and devotion to the darkness.
Roninpool made his entrance in a suit of traditional armor engraved with intricate patterns, each line seeming to record a glorious history of battle.
He carried a long sword and moved with a steady stride, his eyes burning with hunger for victory and the pursuit of the ultimate way of the sword.
Cupidpool stood out in particular. He carried a heart-shaped bow and arrow and wore a light feathered outfit, peering around mischievously as if ready at any moment to shoot love's arrow into some innocent bystander.
Right behind him was Deadpool 2099. She was covered head to toe in high-tech armor that gleamed with cold metallic light, like a warrior who had crossed over from the future. She was also the only one not wearing Deadpool's signature black-and-red suit.
There was also Golden Age Deadpool, whose mask looked like a gas mask. He came from a time when the First World War was raging, and he'd become Deadpool after inhaling too much mustard gas.
Then there were Welshpool in some soccer jersey, Canadapool, Wizardpool, and Frenchpool.
Last of all was Headpool, with a little propeller beanie on top. And he really was nothing but a head.
As for the rest of the variants, they all wore the traditional black-and-red Deadpool suit. The only differences were probably their build and height.
"Wow, there are this many versions of me! So cool!" Hell's Kitchen Deadpool's eyes lit up at the sight of so many Deadpools up ahead.
Most important of all, there was a lady Deadpool!
Just look at that gorgeous figure, that head of golden hair.
Hell's Kitchen Deadpool was absolutely sure he had fallen in love.
"These are all your brothers, huh." Even Logan was pretty shaken by the sight of hundreds of guys who looked exactly like Deadpool.
"Hey, hey, hey! I'm the real deal! What do you all want?" Mainline Deadpool stepped forward and shouted at the Deadpool army.
"What do we want? The Dark Witch is about to destroy the entire multiverse. How could we not stop her?" said Lady Deadpool.
"I've got it covered, okay? No need for you guys to get involved." Mainline Deadpool couldn't understand why so many people from other universes had suddenly shown up in his.
What, was his universe a public restroom now? Anybody could just walk in?
"Hey, kid, watch your mouth!" A burly Deadpool carrying a heavy gun stepped out of the ranks, clearly unhappy with Mainline Deadpool's attitude.
"The boss lady is our leader. Talk like that and you're crossing the line with every one of us!" The moment he finished, the Deadpools all around raised their weapons and aimed them at Logan's group. In an instant, the tension was ready to snap.
"Bottom line: if you want into that subway station, you'll have to get through us first!"
"Looks like we won't get into the TVA without beating them," Logan said seriously, eyeing the Deadpools.
"I've been waiting so long for this day! A team-up, finally!" Mainline Deadpool said excitedly. At last, he got to assemble a team like the Avengers.
"The lady Deadpool's mine. You guys handle the rest! Boys, this is my one shot at not dying single!" With that, Hell's Kitchen Deadpool drew his twin blades and charged straight at Lady Deadpool!
"Halt, foul temptress! You shan't escape me!" Hell's Kitchen Deadpool apparently couldn't wait to make the lady's acquaintance.
That left the Wolverine and Mainline Deadpool staring at each other.
The Wolverine drew a deep breath, slowly took the iconic yellow mask from his belt, and pulled it gently over his head.
In that instant his gaze grew even sharper, as if the whole world came into focus under his stare.
"Whoa, that look is actually pretty sick! You didn't save it till now just to look cool, did you? Or were you planning to reveal your true face at the movie's climax?"
Mainline Deadpool teased him in a breezy, joking tone, trying to ease the tension a little.
"No. I only put this mask on when it's time for a real slaughter." The Wolverine's voice was low and forceful, his eyes flashing with grim resolve.
"So. Let's get started."
With that, the Wolverine and Mainline Deadpool shot into the Deadpool army like two bolts of lightning.
