Chapter 387: Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe
"What do you mean? Deadpools need to hide?" Hell's Kitchen Deadpool was baffled.
There was something out there that Deadpools were afraid of? Deadpools feared nothing on heaven or earth.
Deadpools did the killing. When had anyone ever hunted them down?
That got Hell's Kitchen Deadpool interested in a hurry.
"Who is it, exactly? Why are they killing you? Aren't they scared we Deadpools will get payback? Didn't the other heroes in your world do anything about it?"
Deadpool fired question after question at Lady Deadpool.
Her gaze turned deep and heavy. She drew a long breath, as if trying to calm the turmoil inside her. "Oh, they did something. Of course they did. But... that being was too powerful, too terrifying. So much so that..." Her voice trembled slightly, as if she were remembering something she couldn't bear to look back on.
"So much so that none of our world's superheroes were spared. Not Iron Man, not Captain America, not Thor. Not even the secret warriors hidden in the shadows."
"One after another they fell, sacrifices to that being. And as the superheroes faded away, the whole universe met its end..."
Lady Deadpool's voice was low and mournful. Every word landed like a hammer blow on the hearts of everyone listening.
"That's impossible... Something that strong and that terrifying exists? Damn. Is this guy even stronger than Thanos?"
At this point Deadpool had no idea just how powerful the one she spoke of really was. At most, he figured this enemy was about as strong as Thanos.
Whenever he had nothing better to do, he'd idle in the Group Chat, and that was where he'd seen the video of Ethan's great battle with Thanos.
Thanos was the strongest being Hell's Kitchen Deadpool could think of.
"Thanos? Ha. Who knows how many Thanoses have died by his hand." Lady Deadpool's cold laugh sounded in his ear again, the disdain in it laced with open contempt for Thanos's strength.
"Who is he..." Hell's Kitchen Deadpool was dying to know who could be this depraved, and stronger than Thanos on top of it.
Lady Deadpool's eyes glinted in the gloom, as if she were reliving those harrowing memories.
She drew a deep breath, as if gathering strength for what she was about to say.
"Him... He's one of our variants."
"A Deadpool who broke the fourth wall!" Her words exploded among the Deadpools like a thunderclap.
"He knows he's a character in a comic book. And worse, he believes that if he kills every last Marvel character, he can save this so-called 'Marvel Universe.' That twisted logic, those extreme methods... it's enough to chill you to the bone."
"A terrifying madman. He's slaughtered universe after universe."
"We call him the Killer Deadpool. He's the nightmare of every character in Marvel!"
Hell's Kitchen Deadpool pulled off his mask and looked at Lady Deadpool with an expression that said, You're joking with me, right?
He understood every word she'd said. Put together, though, they made no sense to him at all.
What did she mean, they were comic book characters?
So their world wasn't the real world?
And other Deadpool variants could be that strong?
Strong enough to slaughter entire universes, when he couldn't even beat some of the superheroes in his own universe?
Was it true that going dark really made you ten times stronger?
Deadpool felt like he was listening to a horror story.
"Beautiful lady, I think your story's just okay. It's a bit much on the horror. I know you're trying to tell me a funny story to get my attention. Well, fine. You've successfully got my attention."
Lady Deadpool ignored his clowning and simply went on.
In her universe she was a bodyguard by trade, and also a member of the resistance.
That day, as usual, she was carrying out a secret mission when Captain America unexpectedly discovered her.
A fierce clash between the two of them was inevitable.
Lady Deadpool was no slouch, but against Captain America's near-flawless combat skills she was still outmatched.
Just as she was preparing to use the terrain to retreat, something happened so suddenly that her heart stopped.
Captain America suddenly coughed up blood, his face white as paper. Then a long blade gleaming with cold light burst through his chest, and blood sprayed out, soaking his uniform.
What shocked her even more was the one holding the blade. He was nothing like the goofy, grinning Deadpools she knew. He was a cold, merciless male Deadpool, with no trace of playfulness in his eyes, only an endless lust for killing.
At first she thought this Deadpool had come to help her. But he didn't say a word. Instead, he turned and stabbed her several times.
She fell to the ground, her eyes locked on that figure consumed by bloodshed and madness, her heart filled with fear and despair like nothing she'd ever known.
The evil aura pouring off the Killer Deadpool swallowed every light and every hope around him like a black hole. He was like a demon walked out of hell, trampling on the dignity of life at will.
As the male Deadpool's frenzied slaughter went on, the whole universe seemed to sink into a deathly silence.
Innocent civilians, superheroes with extraordinary powers, even villains whose names struck terror into people: none were spared. All of them fell to his blade.
Lady Deadpool tried to unite every force that could be united, but against this all-but-invincible enemy, every effort seemed pitifully futile.
Two and a half years might be the blink of an eye to the universe. For Lady Deadpool, it was an endless torment of waiting.
She watched the entire world be destroyed, and she felt a loneliness and despair like nothing before.
When the last flame of life in the universe went out, she thought she too would become a casualty of the catastrophe. But the Killer Deadpool unexpectedly stopped his blade.
With a smile that was almost sick, he walked slowly toward her. His hands, once drenched in blood, gently stroked her cheek, and he spoke in a low, seductive voice:
"Don't be afraid. You and I are the same kind. Everything I do isn't mere killing. It's the deepest redemption of this world. Only once they're all gone can they be truly reborn in this comic-book world."
With that, the Killer Deadpool left for the next universe without a backward glance.
As for her, the Deadpool of Universe 616 brought her to the Void.
When Lady Deadpool finished her story, Hell's Kitchen Deadpool was silent for a long time.
It was just too much to take in...
"So where is this Killer Deadpool now?"
...
"Eighty. Eighty..." The voice carried a strange rhythm, yet it betrayed boundless madness and cruelty.
