"I'm done, Jade. I've officially quit the industry," Evelyn said, her voice flat as she stared at the steam rising from her bowl. She didn't want to explain anything again, she just wanted the noise to stop.
Jade stared at Evelyn for a while before speaking softly.
"You Evie, If you can't find a job, I will support you. You're not alone."
She will never forget the kindness Evelyn and the Meyers family had shown her.
Evelyn's eyes prickled with tears. "Careful, Jade, or I might just move in and marry you to pay off the debt."
"That's also fine," The girl responded.
By Evening, Evelyn had gone out to take a stroll and buy a few things she needed. By the time she returned, it was already dark and the care taker George had hired had clocked in for the day.
