To prevent him from making any further moves, Evelyn wrapped herself tightly in her duvet like a cocoon. "Go away. I don't want to hear your explanations, and don't you dare come looking for me ever again!"
Michael laid his palm gently over the duvet, leaning in closer until his breath brushed against her cheek. "Wife..." he murmured softly in her ear.
That low, deep whisper sent a sudden tremor through Evelyn, making her entire body go soft for a brief second before she snapped herself back to reality.
"If you're still upset—"
"Whether I'm happy or upset is none of your business! Get out right now, or I'm calling security!" She turned her head away, glaring at him obstinately.
"You shouldn't stay angry like this," Michael said, looking at her flushed face with endless patience, finding her stubbornness inexplicably adorable. "If you refuse to come back, who is going to wear all those custom dresses in our walk-in closet?"
