"Soheon!"
My heart skipped a beat.
Slowly, I turned around, already praying it wasn't who I thought it was.
Fuck. It is.
I thought my bad luck was gone after getting the chance to earn five million. I never knew it was just beginning.
"Don't say anything," I whispered to Minho.
"Soheon, aren't you happy to see me?" he asked.
If you had come tomorrow, I think I would be, I thought.
But outwardly, I forced a smile.
"Uncle? What are you doing here?" I asked.
He frowned. "Can't I come and visit you again?"
Seriously? Couldn't you pick a better day to visit? I thought.
"Oh… you're welcome," I added awkwardly.
That was when his eyes finally landed on Minho.
"And who is he?" he asked.
"Uh… he's Yuna's cousin," I said quickly. "He's also studying nursing, so Yuna asked me to teach him a thing or two."
I hope he buys it.
He kept looking between me and Minho suspiciously.
"Kid, you're so lucky," my uncle said. "You know our Yuna is the best. There's nothing she doesn't know."
There is something she doesn't know, I thought. When are you leaving?
Minho just looked at me and nodded quietly.
"You don't talk, do you?" my uncle asked him.
"Nope," I said quickly. "He has a sore throat. He can't even say 'ahh.' Very sad."
"Oh, that's sad," my uncle said. "Really sad."
So… uncle, when are you leaving?
My uncle looked at me suspiciously.
"Sorry," I said quickly. "Slip of the tongue. I meant—aren't you very busy? What are you doing here?"
"Well," he said calmly, "let's discuss it inside, shall we?"
"We shall not—" I blurted out.
I froze.
"I mean… we shall. We shall," I corrected quickly. "Another slip of the tongue."
Just as I was about to open my door, my uncle's phone rang.
When he looked at the caller ID, his expression suddenly changed.
