Chapter 21 - chapter 21: signed and sealed

I opened the door and stared at the person outside, then sighed. These people would give me a heart attack for no reason.

"I'm coming," I said, then closed the door and walked back to where Aunt was busy pestering Minho.

"Who is it?" Minho asked, scooting away from her for some fresh air.

I smiled. "Aunt, your husband is here. Now you won't be lonely anymore, so go meet him."

She hesitated, looking at me like she didn't want to leave.

"Aunt, please… I want to spend some time with my boyfriend. I don't get to see him often," I said, my eyes slightly tearing up.

She softened immediately. "I'm sorry. I'll go now."

Minho just stared at me, and I glared at him in return.

I followed Aunt to the door. "And Aunt…"

She turned back.

"If you ever tell anyone about me and Minho, I won't talk to you ever again."

"Don't worry," she said with a small smile. "Your secret is safe with me. Can I tell your uncle?"

"No," I replied, opening the door.

She left, and I closed it behind her, letting out a deep sigh.

What a heck of a day.

I looked at Minho, then walked past him straight to my room.

What's wrong with her? I wondered.

Just then, I heard my door open. I turned and saw her standing there with a piece of paper and a pen. I frowned, confused.

She walked over, sat beside me, and handed me the pen. "Sign here."

I stared at her but signed anyway.

She pointed at another spot. "Here too."

I signed again.

She lifted the paper with a satisfied smile. "Good."

"What are you using my signature for?" I asked. "Do you want to sell it too?"

"I wish I could," she said playfully. "I want to keep it as evidence—just in case you recover your memory and forget me."

She grinned. "So I can still come collect my reward money."

I looked at her, confused. "Why would I forget you?"

"Sometimes when an amnesiac recovers, they forget what happened before. They remember later, but gradually. So I want to be prepared—just in case."

"I won't forget you," I said. "I only met you today, but it's already very hard to forget you."

"Aww…" she said, clearly pleased. "But I still have to be prepared. I don't want my hard work going to waste."

She stood up. "I'm going to sleep."

"Isn't it too early?" I asked.

"It's already 9 p.m. I usually sleep earlier than this."

"What about Yuna? Isn't she coming?" I asked.

She paused, then turned to look at me.

"You really want to meet your wife? Too bad—she's not coming. She texted that she can't make it."

She continued walking toward her room.

"Soheon…"

She stopped and turned back.

"I want to work here… in this house. For the meantime, so you can pay me."

She froze at my words.
