Chapter 334: Make a gun, provide your own materials
The next day, Aaron was woken up by his alarm clock at six in the morning.
He and Abey quickly washed up, then went downstairs for breakfast.
Leon was about ten minutes later than them; he brought an ancient magic book and read it while eating.
"I almost forgot I had a guest like you in my house.
Let me state this beforehand: I have a lot to do every day, so if you need anything, you can find Gines."
"Didn't you tell him?" Leon asked, looking at Gines.
"I was just about to." Gines shrugged, "Young Master, the Family Head and Madam called last night. Young Master Leon can visit the Chamber of Secrets."
Aaron blinked, and it took him a while to recover, "Is this… appropriate?"
"There's nothing inappropriate about it." Gines explained, "Hidden families have been connected for thousands of years, and there are almost no secrets between them."
Hearing this, Aaron sighed helplessly.
He was already annoyed enough having a butler and two bodyguards following him every day; adding someone who was possibly his future brother-in-law was enough to make a mahjong table.
"It seems you don't really welcome me!" Leon shook his head dramatically, sighing, "Our relationship has truly faded; it hasn't been that long since we last met, and you…Woo woo woo…"
Aaron blocked his mouth with a piece of cake, "Eat your food properly.
Besides, I don't not welcome you; it's just that it might be very boring."
"Doesn't matter." Leon removed the cake and said casually, "I'm just looking. Speaking of which, Uncle Vico is really not being fair. You know all the secrets of our three families, but we haven't even truly entered Gaius's Chamber of Secrets."
"Cough cough!" Gines coughed, "Young Master Leon, the current heir of the Gaius is quite special. Even the Young Master himself only gained access to the family's core two years ago."
Leon pouted, then looked at Aaron curiously, "I heard you've already completed a journey to another world. Can you tell me about it?"
"You wouldn't want to know."
"Were you… very unlucky?"
Aaron slowly nodded, "You could say I haven't had a single good day."
"Tsk!" Leon's mouth twitched, "It can't be that bad, can it? But now that you mention it, I'm even more interested. Quickly satisfy your brother's curiosity."
Aaron rolled his eyes, "Allied with the Dwarves, killed a terrifying Dragon, then allied with the Elves and Humans, and defeated the Orc army."
Leon: … "That's it?"
"What else?" Aaron shrugged, picked up Abey, and walked towards the Chamber of Secrets. A half-year journey to another world could fill a book if he went into detail, and he didn't have time to tell Leon stories.
"He's sometimes really boring, isn't he?"
Gines neither confirmed nor denied, making a gesture of invitation, "Young Master Leon, please follow me."
Upon entering the first Chamber of Secrets, Leon was captivated by the sight: crimson magma, a half-open furnace, and piles of rare ores clearly indicated the purpose of this Chamber of Secrets.
"No wonder your family's arms business is so good; this must have been passed down for thousands of years!" Leon exclaimed, "Uncle Gines, don't be stingy; let me see what treasured weapons you have."
"That's no problem. I'll take you to see them later."
Leon smiled contentedly, then walked to a scorching hot furnace and examined it. Inside the red furnace was a mass of liquid emitting a milky white glow.
"What is that? It's too beautiful!"
"Heart of the Mountain. It's a gem the Dwarf King gave me."
"You melted it? Are you forging something?"
"I want to forge a Divine Artifact." Aaron didn't hide it, "This is the first material."
Leon was stunned for a moment, then turned to look at the milky white glow in the furnace, shaking his head slightly, "It's still far from enough. Divine Artifacts also have different grades. If the quality is a bit lower…"
"I want the best kind." Aaron interrupted.
"Then it's even harder. It will take a long time and a lot of… resources."
"They'll be ready sooner or later." Aaron said confidently, then placed his right hand on the black stone pillar, and Algol Gaius, with black hair and silver eyes, was summoned.
Leon swallowed, vaguely guessing the identity of this figure.
"Who is this?"
"Leon Darwin." Aaron introduced.
"A Darwin Family member, Hawk's son?" Algol said with interest.
Leon immediately bowed respectfully. He wouldn't dare to show any disrespect to this ancestor of terrifying seniority.
"No need to be so formal." Algol chuckled, "Your father was much more natural the first time he came."
"You… know my father?"
"Vico took him on a tour after he inherited the position of Gaius Family Head. You two weren't even born then!"
Leon suddenly looked enlightened, "My father never told me."
"That's normal. I'm not alive, after all, am I?"
"Ancestor." Aaron interjected, "Let's talk about business first. I acquired a rare metal a while ago. See if you can add it?"
Abey flew over and pulled out a silvery-white metal from his pocket.
As soon as it was taken out, Algol's gaze was drawn to it. He looked at the basketball-sized metal and couldn't help but murmur, "Mithril, good stuff.
It's much lighter than iron, but its hardness is comparable to Dragon scales. Most importantly, it has a considerable affinity for magic, which will greatly enhance the power of magic."
"Looks like it wasn't a wasted purchase." Aaron thought to himself.
Algol gave Aaron an approving look, then tossed the Mithril into the furnace.
The crimson magic array flashed, and the Mithril was continuously refined. A silvery-white glow gradually appeared in the furnace.
"You can still regret it now. The two materials inside can forge a high-quality Divine Weapon."
"But I still want a Divine Artifact, and a top-tier one."
Algol raised an eyebrow, "Then these two materials alone are far from enough."
"I'm mentally prepared. I'll gather what needs to be gathered.
Also, besides a sword for close combat, I also want a weapon for long-range combat."
"Bow and arrow?"
"No." Aaron chuckled somewhat awkwardly, "It's firearms, firearms that can use magic to increase bullet power."
Hearing this, Algol burst out laughing, "You're still so interesting!
Alright, I happen to have machines and tools for forging parts here.
But let me state this upfront: firearms are different from cold weapons. Besides materials, they also require precise design and will consume more time.
Old rule: if you want Divine Artifact-level firearms, I won't be responsible for preparing the materials."
"No need for so much trouble. I only need Divine Weapon-level ones." Aaron said, rubbing his nose awkwardly, "One light sniper rifle, one heavy sniper rifle, one revolver, one flintlock pistol, and one automatic pistol."
Algol's mouth twitched slightly, and a few black lines appeared on his forehead.
Leon and Gines exchanged glances, then tacitly took a step back, not forgetting to bring Abey with them.
"Enough." Algol roared somewhat angrily, "Don't you think that's too many?
One Divine Weapon is one thing, but five? Do you know how many materials that will consume?
All these materials combined are enough to forge half a Divine Artifact."
"It can't be that bad!"
"It is that bad. I suggest you have Gines custom-make a batch of enchanted weapons for you to use instead."
"I thought about it too, but the firearms they forge are nowhere near as good as yours, Ancestor!"
"Hmph!" Algol snorted disdainfully, "No matter how pretty your words are, I won't bear the cost of those materials. They are all what I accumulated piece by piece during my life and after my death."
"Stingy." Aaron pouted, "How about this, Ancestor, you provide the materials for one, and I'll prepare the remaining four myself."
"That's more like it." Algol said calmly, "But I warn you, the materials you provide will determine the quality of the firearms."
"So I have to prepare rare ores again?"
"Exactly, and ores of a quality no lower than Mithril."
Aaron hesitated for a moment, then took the Black Arrowfrom Abey's pocket, "Can I melt this?"
Algol's expression tightened, "An arrow that has killed a Dragon?"
"Good eye." Aaron smiled shyly, "The Black Arrow can pierce Dragon armor. I used it to pierce the heart of a Dragon."
"The material is barely acceptable, but it's hard to say how much will remain after refining." Algol threw the Black Arrow into another furnace, then looked at Aaron, "If you have time, I suggest you go to the Library. If you're really determined to use these types of weapons, then you'd best learn how to maintain firearms.
I can provide warranty, but when you're not home, I'll be powerless."
Aaron: … You make a good point.
But four materials no worse than Mithril, how many magicpoints would he have to spend to gather them all!
Thinking this, Aaron turned his gaze to Gines and Leon: Aren't you going to contribute?
"Young Master." Gines chuckled awkwardly, "There are indeed many rare ores in the treasury, but those of a quality no lower than Mithril require the approval of Lord Algol to be moved, unless the Patriarch gives a mandatory order.
However, this subordinate will do his best to search the market. It shouldn't be difficult to gather four sets of materials given some time."
"As for me, it's not that I can't help you." Leon said meaningfully, "I often participate in archaeological work at various ruins, and I have plenty of good things on hand."
"At critical moments, you're still the most reliable." Aaronsaid with a look of relief.
"But…"
Hearing this word, Aaron immediately rolled his eyes. With this twist, freeloading was no longer an option.
"I understand, close brothers, clear accounts.
Tell me, what will it take for you to sell them to me?"
"Hey! You make it sound like I'm short on money." Leon said irritably, "Besides, talking about money is so vulgar. We can talk about something fresh and refined."
"Like what?"
"Clea…"
"Stop." Aaron decisively raised his hand to interrupt him, "I finally ask you for a favor, and you just have to bring up her, don't you?"
"Who told me I only have one sister!" Leon said shamelessly, "I don't need you to do anything, just give her a nice gift next time you see her."
"Oh, this…"
"Does this still need consideration?
When have you ever seen her without giving her a gift?"
Aaron hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"That's right!" Leon said with a satisfied smile, then took a key from his pocket, "Uncle Gines, Gringotts, Vault 77."
