Chapter 5 - Ch:5-The Name Written in Ruins

The forest had not returned to normal.

It had only grown quieter.

Heavier.

As if something far greater than the beast had awakened… and the world itself was reacting.

Aarav stood still, his eyes fixed on the darkness ahead.

The presence he felt now was nothing like before.

Not wild.

Not chaotic.

Controlled.

Watching.

"So… you're the one."

The voice echoed again.

Calm.

Cold.

Certain.

Aarav's gaze sharpened.

"Show yourself."

For a moment, nothing moved.

Then—

The shadows shifted.

And from within them, a figure stepped forward.

Not a beast.

Not human.

Something in between.

A tall humanoid figure, dressed in dark, flowing armor that seemed to absorb light itself. Its face was partially visible, but its eyes—

They glowed faintly with a divine hue.

Aarav's chest tightened instantly.

"…Heaven."

The figure stopped a few meters away.

"So you can still sense it," it said.

Its voice was steady, almost emotionless.

Aarav clenched his fist.

"Who are you?"

The figure tilted its head slightly.

"A watcher."

A pause.

"Or, if you prefer… your executioner."

The air grew cold.

Aarav didn't move.

"You came to kill me?"

The figure shook its head.

"Not yet."

Aarav frowned.

"Then why are you here?"

The watcher stepped closer.

"Observation."

Its glowing eyes scanned Aarav from head to toe.

"Your seal is breaking faster than predicted."

Aarav's expression hardened.

"You keep saying that word—seal. Stop talking in riddles."

The watcher's gaze didn't change.

"You are not meant to understand yet."

Aarav took a step forward.

"Then make me understand."

For a brief moment—

The air trembled.

Not from power.

From tension.

Then the watcher spoke again.

"Tell me something."

A pause.

"When you fought that creature… did it feel natural?"

Aarav didn't answer immediately.

But his silence was enough.

The watcher nodded slightly.

"Of course it did."

Aarav's voice turned cold.

"What are you implying?"

"That you are not learning power," the watcher said.

"You are remembering it."

Aarav's eyes narrowed.

"…Then that means I had it before."

The watcher didn't deny it.

"That is exactly why you are dangerous."

Aarav felt something shift inside him.

"Dangerous… to who?"

This time—

The watcher answered clearly.

"To Heaven."

Silence fell between them.

Aarav's mind raced.

"…Why?"

The watcher looked at him for a long moment.

Then said—

"Because you have already destroyed it once."

Aarav froze.

"…What?"

Before he could react—

The watcher suddenly disappeared.

Aarav's instincts screamed.

He turned—

Too late.

A strike landed on his shoulder.

CRASH.

Aarav was thrown across the ground, rolling before crashing into a tree.

Pain shot through his body.

He forced himself up, breathing heavily.

"You—!"

The watcher stood calmly where he had landed.

"No hesitation. No mercy."

A pause.

"That is your nature."

Aarav wiped the blood from his lip.

"And what about you?"

The watcher didn't answer.

Instead—

It raised its hand.

A faint divine light formed around it.

"This is not a fight," it said.

"It is a test."

Aarav's eyes hardened.

"Everyone keeps testing me."

The watcher moved.

Faster than the beast.

Faster than anything Aarav had faced.

Aarav barely managed to block.

BOOM.

The impact pushed him back instantly.

His arms trembled.

"This power…"

It was different.

Refined.

Controlled.

Divine.

The watcher attacked again.

Aarav dodged, barely.

Each movement felt calculated.

Precise.

Unlike the beast's raw aggression.

"You're holding back," Aarav said.

The watcher didn't deny it.

"Of course."

A pause.

"If I didn't… you would already be dead."

Aarav's jaw tightened.

"Try me."

For a moment—

Something changed in the watcher's gaze.

Interest.

Then—

It attacked again.

Faster.

Stronger.

Aarav was pushed back again and again.

Each hit landed harder.

Each defense became weaker.

Until—

He was forced to his knees.

Breathing heavily.

His body shaking.

"This… is the gap…"

The watcher stood before him.

Unharmed.

Unmoved.

"This is your current limit," it said.

Aarav clenched his fists.

"No…"

The mark on his chest flared again.

Brighter.

Stronger.

The watcher noticed.

"…Interesting."

Aarav slowly stood up.

His eyes—different now.

Darker.

Sharper.

"I'm not done."

Energy surged around him.

Unstable.

But growing.

The watcher took a step back.

Not out of fear.

But caution.

"So it begins…"

Aarav moved.

Faster than before.

His strike forced the watcher to block.

The impact shook the ground.

BOOM.

The watcher slid back slightly.

Its expression changed.

"…You're evolving mid-fight."

Aarav didn't respond.

He attacked again.

And again.

Each movement faster.

Each hit stronger.

The watcher blocked most of them—

But not all.

A small crack appeared on its armor.

Silence.

The watcher looked down at it.

Then back at Aarav.

"…Enough."

It raised its hand.

And suddenly—

Everything stopped.

A pressure descended.

Absolute.

Aarav's body froze.

He couldn't move.

His energy collapsed instantly.

"…What is this…"

The watcher stepped closer.

"This… is the difference between us."

Aarav struggled.

But nothing worked.

"You are still incomplete."

The watcher raised its hand toward Aarav's chest.

"Your awakening is too early."

For a moment—

It looked like it would kill him.

But then—

It stopped.

"…Not yet."

The pressure disappeared.

Aarav fell forward, catching himself.

Breathing heavily.

The watcher turned away.

"You will grow."

A pause.

"And when you do…"

It looked back one last time.

"We will return."

And then—

It vanished.

Completely.

The Ruins

Time passed.

Minutes… or maybe longer.

Aarav slowly stood up.

His body still weak.

But his mind—

More unstable than ever.

"…I destroyed Heaven?"

The words echoed in his head.

"That doesn't make sense…"

But the vision…

The battlefield…

It felt real.

He looked ahead.

Deeper into the forest.

Something was pulling him again.

Not the same as before.

Stronger.

Quieter.

He followed it.

And after some time—

He found it.

Ruins.

Ancient.

Massive.

Hidden deep within the forest.

Stone structures covered in symbols he couldn't understand—

But somehow…

They felt familiar.

Aarav stepped closer.

His heartbeat increased.

"…Why does this feel like I've been here before?"

He walked through the broken entrance.

And then—

He saw it.

A wall.

Covered in carvings.

Stories.

War.

Destruction.

Heaven.

And at the center of it—

A figure.

Standing alone.

Facing everything.

Aarav's breath stopped.

"…No way…"

He stepped closer.

His hand trembling slightly.

And then he saw it.

A name.

Carved clearly into the stone.

Not faded.

Not broken.

Perfect.

Waiting.

For him.

Aarav reached out slowly.

And touched it.

The moment his fingers made contact—

The mark on his chest burned violently.

And the name glowed.

Revealing itself completely.

AARAV — THE TRAITOR OF HEAVEN

Aarav's eyes widened in shock.

"…Traitor?"

Behind him—

A soft voice echoed.

"You finally found it…"

Aarav turned instantly.

And for the first time—

He saw her.
