Chapter 13 - 13

Third-person POV.

On a cold, full-moon night, a large number of Dementors could be seen flying over the forest, heading in a certain direction. They soon seemed to find their target and swooped down on them, seemingly about to claim the souls of their two victims.

Just as the Dementors were about to finish claiming their victims' souls, a Patronus in the form of a deer appeared, forcing them to back away from their victims, who were already unconscious, barely clinging to life.

The moment the Dementors were driven away and the deer Patronus vanished, having completed its mission, the air above the two people began to act strangely. A kind of black spiral with purple flashes began to form, spinning at great speed, followed by a dazzling light that blinded anyone within 20 meters of it.

Once the light subsided, a kind of golden sphere could be seen where the spiral had been, and inside that sphere were those who, just moments before, had been the victims of the Dementors.

But something seemed strange; it wasn't just those two unfortunate men anymore. Now, beside them, lay the body of a young woman, gravely wounded. Her left foot was bent at an awkward angle, and blood trickled from her forehead, forming a small pool beneath her. Her chest rose and fell slowly, indicating she could die at any moment if she wasn't treated as soon as possible.

The golden sphere protecting the three began to flicker, signaling its impending disappearance. Before it vanished, another Patronus appeared—this time a doe. Moments later, the owner of that Patronus appeared, just as the sphere protecting the three disappeared, transforming into wisps of golden light.

The man paused momentarily to observe the three people, two of them unconscious and the last seriously injured. He waved his wand over them, and soon all three were floating on magical stretchers. But there was a difference with one of them: the oldest of the three, a disheveled man with long black hair, was bound with a set of magical ropes as he was carried.

The man who had cast the spells made the stretchers float alongside him, where another stretcher with another injured boy could also be seen. Then he hurried back to the castle with the four people floating on stretchers, all with varying degrees of injury.

When the man who could float the stretchers encountered the other people and spoke a few words that seemed to surprise them before they hurried into the castle, they ran into a woman rushing toward them.

The woman surveyed the wounded and, with just a glance, rushed to attend to the young woman in critical condition. She produced a potion and had the young woman drink it quickly, then proceeded to stabilize her before allowing the patients to be taken elsewhere.

As the woman hurried the young woman into what appeared to be an infirmary, the other three patients were separated, with the two young people taken to the infirmary and the older man to an unknown location.

By the time the other two young men were moved to one of the beds, the woman was already moving rapidly in the corner bed where the girl lay. The bleeding had stopped, but her face was deathly pale. The girl was still unconscious, which made it easier for the woman to treat her, as she was now trying to heal the other wounds on her body.

The girl needed several potions because, in addition to the head wound, most of the bones on the left side of her body were broken or cracked, not to mention the large amount of blood she had lost. The woman treating her had barely arrived in time to keep her alive. She then went to the other two young men, who weren't as badly injured. One had only a broken leg, and the other just needed some time to recover and some chocolate.

When both boys regained consciousness, they felt a great deal of curiosity about the young woman who was still unconscious in the corner bed. Soon, another young woman with thick brown hair joined them.

Their curiosity about the unconscious young woman stemmed from the fact that she was a complete stranger, and her clothing—brown pants, a gray shirt, and several pieces of leather protective gear—was striking. Not to mention, the young woman was exceptionally beautiful. Her features were delicate and elegant, her hair was as black as the night sky, long and straight, and her skin was very pale. They weren't sure if that was her natural skin tone or if she was simply pale from blood loss, but she possessed a certain fragility that compelled them to protect her.

The trio had to stop looking at the unconscious girl when the woman in charge of the infirmary closed the curtains around her bed, successfully blocking their curious gaze.

While the trio chatted amongst themselves, an older man dressed in somewhat extravagant robes entered the infirmary. He first went to the bed in the corner and spoke with the nurse in charge for a few minutes. When the woman left the room, he went to speak with the trio, who were closer to the door, and talked with them for a few moments.

When the older man left the room, the young woman with thick hair approached the young man with glasses and took a strange necklace from her chest. The pendant on the necklace was rather large and shaped like an hourglass.

The young woman with thick hair passed the chain of the necklace, which became longer than usual, over both their heads and began to spin the hourglass a few times. Once she stopped spinning it, both disappeared from their places. Seeing his friends vanish, the young redhead, who was half-lying on the bed, tried to sit up in surprise, only to stop when the previously closed door opened, and both the young woman with thick hair and the young man with glasses entered.

The young people were about to continue their conversation when they were interrupted once again, but this time it was a knock on the window. The young man with glasses went to see who or what was knocking.

When he approached the window, he noticed what appeared to be a small eagle, about 40 centimeters tall. As the eagle continued to tap on the window with its beak, the young man with glasses had no choice but to open it.

The eagle hurriedly flew inside, a little unsteadily, to the bed of the girl in the corner. The three of them seemed bewildered by the eagle's actions, but what truly surprised them was seeing one of the castle ghosts pass through a wall and head to the same bed in the corner.

The three of them couldn't even say another word because the nurse also returned and rushed the young man with glasses and the girl with thick hair out of the room, sending the redhead to bed before going to the bed in the corner herself.

All of that only left the castle's most famous trio with new doubts about the identity of that young woman and without any answers.
