Ilaria
I rushed into the house with Samuel hot on my heels. I was trying to keep Nissa from realizing that I was freaking out a little at the urgency I was getting from Samuel. I turned to look at him as I sat Nissa down.
"What's happening Samuel, what do I need to do?" He looked at me like he was surprised I would ask that rather than just lose my head like some airhead.
I rolled my eyes, and he grinned just a little, "There are active shooters inbound to the property. We have security cameras all the way to 20 miles out so we saw unmarked cars and the gunmen exit the vehicles. I have security forces armed and in place to intercept them, but if there is any chance of bullets flying I don't want you or Nissa anywhere in the vicinity."
"I would say that's a good call. Will it be okay to have her here, even with windows?" I looked around at the glass everywhere in the living room.
'Yes, ma'am, I don't expect to have them anywhere close to the house. Having you inside is just a precaution and me being inordinately careful." He nodded.
"I appreciate that Samuel, but I think I will take her to the theatre room and have her watch a movie, there are no windows and no way in besides the door. Do you think you might slip me a weapon, just in case? I hate being unarmed if there is even a hint that I should need to defend her." I was serious and again he was extremely surprised.
"I will see you have a small revolver, for dire emergencies, would that make you feel more secure?" He watched me and I just nodded, and he left I guess to go and get one.
"Nissa, how about we have a movie in the afternoon. We can go into the theater room that Hugo showed me this morning. I can even ask Ivanka for snacks. Does that sound fun?"
"Yay, yes. I would love that mama. Let's go." She started pulling me by the hand and I just had to laugh.
I explained to Ivanka what we were doing and she smiled and proceeded to get us a basket of snacks and drinks. Then she handed it over while nodding to me, no doubt in the "know" about what was going on.
Just as we were leaving the kitchen Samuel came in and went right by me, and he handed me a small pocket revolver, which I pocketed while walking the other way with Nissa. We settled in to watch a movie and eat snacks.

I picked up the phone I had laid on my desk when it rang absentmindedly, paying more attention to the reports I was reading and going over than who was calling me. When I heard Samuel's voice over the phone that changed instantly.
"Repeat that please Samuel."
"We have incoming armed men. I saw on the far western cameras several unmarked cars parked on the side road. 5 men exited, all armed. We have been tracking them and I have a full security contingent ready for them. They are not aware we are expecting them. I have your wife and daughter under watch to keep them safe, they are currently in the theatre room watching a movie. Your wife wanted to be in a room with no windows to better protect Nissa just in case, and she is armed, as it made her feel better."
"My wife wished to be armed?" I was curious and a bit amused despite my anger at the situation.
"Yes, sir, she seemed rather adamant Pekhan that she had a way to guard Nissa should the worst ever happen." I could hear amusement in his voice as well.
"Someone is getting far, far too bold. I am glad you and I discussed having the cameras over all of the property, even far out, and I am also glad for your counsel in making sure only very few knew about it. Someone is begging for a slow and painful death when I discover who has been trying to harm my family."
"Yes, Pekhan, I will be sure and keep listening for any possible clues as to who this person might be." I knew Samuel to be loyal, and was sure he was working to find the answers just as I was.
"I am heading to you. Please try to secure several alive if you can. I need to have someone to question about today and who wished to have my family attacked."
"Yes, Pekhan, it will be done. I will secure several for you. I will see you when you arrive. I expect the altercation to be very short. My men are more than ready." I have no doubt, Samuel.
As I was walking out, Esilev stopped me, "Where are you going Pekhan?"
"My family is being hunted as we speak. Samuel has the problem well in hand, but now, I must question those who would dare raise a weapon against my wife and daughter."
"Do you wish me to come with you?" He seemed almost eager.
"No, my friend, but I will have some fun for you later when we question the men. I requested that Samuel save several for me. As soon as I have them, we will be taking them to the warehouse. I will let you know when we are on our way there, and you can meet me to help me question them." He grinned an evil excited grin and I smiled in return.
I did not rush, knowing that the situation was well in hand. Nor did I stop, I wished to see for myself that my family was safe. I also wanted Ilaria to know that I took her safety extremely seriously, and that I would always be there for her and our children to keep them safe. It also seems my wife will be keeping my children safe, which warms my heart.
The Bratva would soon see that she was exactly who I needed to stand by my side and rule over the Bratva. My wife was brave, and a warrior, she was worthy.
Just as I pulled into my own drive, right before I reached the guard shack, bullets met my windshield.
