And whatever this system was—
It was watching.
I stood there for a second longer, scanning the trees.
Nothing rushed me.
Nothing screamed.
Nothing made a move.
"…yeah, that's worse."
I opened the book again.
Didn't know why.
Just felt like I should.
The pages flickered slightly as they loaded back in. Same chapters. Same progress.
Same everything.
At first.
Then—
A small shift.
Barely noticeable.
A new section appeared under the Mod Shop tab.
Recommended Unlocks
I frowned.
"…recommended by who?"
I clicked it.
The list wasn't the same as before.
It skipped the small stuff.
Went straight to something bigger.
World Expansion
The Twilight Forest — 140 Points 🔒The Aether — 160 Points 🔒"…yeah, still can't afford that."
I was about to back out—
When the screen flickered.
Hard.
Not like lag.
Like something forced its way in.
Experimental Worlds
"…I don't like that name."
Hero World — ??? Points 🔒
Cursed World — ??? Points 🔒
??? World — ??? Points 🔒
I stared at it.
"…those were not here before."
No costs.
No descriptions.
Just names.
Like I was supposed to guess.
I hovered over Hero World.
For a split second—
A city flashed.
Tall buildings. Clean streets. People moving like everything was normal.
Then—
A figure dropped from the sky.
Impact.
Concrete cracked.
Nobody ran.
Nobody panicked.
They expected it.
Then it was gone.
"…okay."
I exhaled slowly.
"Yeah, that's not normal—but it's… stable?"
I moved down.
Hovered over Cursed World.
Everything went quiet.
Heavier than before.
The screen dimmed.
A hallway appeared.
Dark. Narrow.
Something stood at the end.
Not human.
It didn't move.
Just watched.
Then—
It smiled.
Too wide.
Too wrong.
My chest tightened.
Like something was pressing down on me.
Then—
Black.
I yanked the cursor away.
The normal screen snapped back instantly.
I didn't move.
"…nope."
A breath.
"…absolutely not."
I stared at it for a second longer.
Then—against my better judgment—
I hovered over the last one.
??? World
This one didn't flash.
Didn't darken.
It… loaded.
A city.
Broken.
Sirens in the distance.
Then—
The sky tore open.
Purple.
Wrong.
Something crawled out of it.
Not a zombie.
Not anything I recognized.
A window appeared in front of someone nearby.
Numbers.
Stats.
Level.
Then everything cut out.
I pulled back slowly.
"…okay."
A pause.
"…that one has menus."
I leaned back, staring at the list.
Hero World.
Cursed World.
???
"…so I've got superheroes, nightmare fuel, and… whatever that is."
Another flicker.
Text appeared at the bottom of the screen.
System Notice:
User progression below optimal threshold.
Increased stimulus recommended.
"…excuse me?"
Another line.
Behavior detected: Avoidance.
Adaptive options provided.
I stared at it.
"…you're calling me a coward."
The screen didn't respond.
Didn't deny it either.
I slowly closed the menu.
This time, it didn't fight me.
The world came rushing back.
Wind through the trees.
Water moving beside me.
That same quiet.
That same wrong quiet.
Something shifted in the distance again.
Still there.
Still watching.
I tightened my grip on the knife.
"…yeah, yeah. I get it."
I glanced down at where the book icon sat.
Still there.
Waiting.
"Not picking that alone."
A beat.
"…no way I'm getting tricked into a death world without backup opinions."
I stepped forward, eyes scanning the forest again.
Chapter 3 wasn't over.
Not really.
Now there were choices.
Big ones.
And for once—
Doing nothing felt like the worst option.
"…guess we'll see what wins."
Author a note: comment on the mod/worlds you want him to visit for now it's at least 10 chapters in the Minecraft world
