Chapter 155 - Chapter 154 Two Artifacts

"Why do I feel like Xi Mengyao appearing here doesn't seem like an accident?" Listening to the conversation between Xi Mengyao and the Songstress, Leticia said thoughtfully, rubbing her chin.

It was obvious that Xi Mengyao had been lured to this place and then attacked by that assailant.

An accident—perhaps Leticia would have thought it was an accident before, but now, she felt that this was definitely not an accident.

Being even bolder, Leticia even speculated that the target of this attack was actually not Eriko, but Xi Mengyao.

"However, why is Senior Zi here?" Over there, Xi Mengyao had already explained the ins and outs of the matter to the Songstress.

"Little Xi also knows that I was once a hero, right?" the Songstress asked.

Xi Mengyao nodded, "Of course I know, everyone in the agency knows that Senior Zi was once a great hero."

"The day you were attacked, she happened to be with us, so she came along," Melanie added from the side. "Besides, the inside story of this matter involves the Elf Race, so it is best not to let ordinary people get involved."

The only non-ordinary person in the Songstress's agency was the Songstress herself, who was a former hero, so her presence here was a very normal thing.

"The Elf Race?" Xi Mengyao was stunned for a moment. She had just filmed a movie about the Elf Race a few days ago, and now the attack was related to the Elf Race. Could it be that it was because the movie she filmed portrayed the Elf Empress as a big villain?

That didn't make sense either; she was just a minor actress. If the Elf Race wanted revenge, they should go find the screenwriter or the director; what was the point of finding a minor actress like her?

It wasn't like the movie wouldn't be released if they killed her.

"It's probably a small group of extremists within the Elf Race; they hate others making arrangements about the Elf Race the most. In your movie, humans and the princess of the Elf Race killed the Empress together; that probably made them angry." Leticia began to lie through her teeth.

She couldn't very well tell Xi Mengyao that she was actually just a huge scapegoat and that they didn't even know why she had been dragged into this kind of thing, right?

"However, most elves are still friendly. Later, an elf will come to detoxify you, so just lie on the bed and rest easy." After terrifying her, Leticia gave Xi Mengyao a little comfort. "Hey you with the surname York, let's go find Eriko."

There was no point in staying here. Just watch Xi Mengyao space out?

It would still take some time for the Elf Race to arrive here. Before that, Leticia felt she could still have a few words with Eriko.

After guessing that Eriko was Evangeline, Leticia became interested in this Half-Elf girl. Although she kept saying that this pitiful Empress was just a mascot, Leticia actually quite sympathized with Evangeline.

She was now thinking about how to send Evangeline back to the Elf Race, and then act as a manipulator behind the scenes, guiding Evangeline to overthrow the Elder Council and let this Empress become a true Empress.

Of course, a true Empress under Leticia's manipulation.

Although she didn't intend to conquer the Elf Race as her own territory, Leticia was still quite keen on making the Elf Race completely lose its threat to the Demon Race.

And this required confirming whether Eriko was really Evangeline.

"Haven't seen you for a few days, Xiaoyu, you seem to be looking a bit worse for wear." In the spacious and bright room, Leticia met with the worried-looking Eriko.

Eriko was wearing a simple dress, her face looked haggard, and the two heavy dark circles under her eyes on her originally somewhat delicate face ruined her already not-so-pretty appearance.

"Is that young lady feeling better?" Eriko didn't answer Leticia's question, but asked about Xi Mengyao's condition instead.

"She has already woken up. As expected, the poison of the Elf Race can only be solved by the Elf Race." Leticia said to Eriko with a smile, "They will come to meet you in a while, so get ready."

"Mm." Eriko lowered her head and replied.

There didn't seem to be any special reaction; Leticia was a little disappointed.

"It's all because of me that the young lady was poisoned." Eriko whispered to herself. She seemed to be convincing herself, or perhaps defending herself, "If this can save her, just meeting her, it doesn't matter to me."

"But you can't call this 'not mattering'," Leticia patted Eriko's shoulder. This girl's current expression undoubtedly wore her concern on her face. "Trust that person surnamed York; she won't abandon you."

"Can I not trust Miss Ohara?"

"You'd better not trust me; I'm not like her." Leticia snorted, "She is a good person, and I am a bad person. Without sufficient profit, I won't protect you."

But as long as there is enough profit, then you, Eriko, are my Leticia's sister from another mother!

"If it were me, I would definitely just toss you directly to the Elf Race, to save myself the trouble."

"Pfft, Miss Ohara is still as unstraightforward as ever." Leticia's words made Eriko chuckle.

Although she didn't mince words, in reality, hadn't Leticia come to this dangerous place to see her?

Moreover, she seemed to have just been comforting her, telling her not to worry too much.

'If it were me, I would definitely just toss you directly to the Elf Race'—if one interprets this sentence from a different angle, doesn't it mean that Melanie won't toss her to the Elf Race?
