Chapter 124: strange eyes and strong glares, impotent rage
Hermione and professor McGonagall took Harry to the hospital wing to meet with madam Pomfrey. Jack on the other hand returned back to the main hall. The first years have not arrived yet.
It takes time for them to come while professor Mcgonagall took care of the situation of Harry checking his current physical and mental state. Well he is the savior and he needs more attention than others.
After McGonagall's business with Harry is concluded, they return to the Great Hall to find that they missed the sorting ceremony. Dumbledore announces the two changes in staffing during the year.
Hagrid has been made the Care of Magical Creatures teacher due to the retirement of Professor Kettleburn. Jack did not have high expectations for Hagrid. He is not a grateful person. He can be ungrateful.
Lupin has been appointed as the defense against dark arts teacher. Knowing that he is a werewolf he was still appointed by Dumbledore as defense against dark arts teacher. Also they forced Snape to make potions for his enemy Lupin.
The group of Lupin's friends group that is James potter, Sirius black, Peter Pettigrew, none of them is a good person. In comparison Draco looks like a saint. They did many atrocious things at Hogwarts in their student days.
Bullying is the least of them. One of the bully candidates is naturally Snape. Snape can fight back but he cannot fight back 4 of them at the same time. Also being a Slytherin student, if he is slightly excessive he would be blamed directly by those professors.
So he became irritable and lost his love in the end. Lily Evans is an intelligent woman. But the young age and not knowing the true nature of the world and human heart made her fall for the scumbag James.
If you observe carefully, James died quickly while she used her soul to protect her child. The killing curse backlash on Voldemort is because she is a pure person with good and innocent heart. But that did not happen with others including Harry potter.
Also they would have survived if James porter did not insist in hiding here with the help of his good unreliable friends instead of following the arrangements of Dumbledore. It is like they say 'Good words falling into deaf ears.'
So they died and they pushed the blame to others easily without even thinking. It is a magical world and they did not even have things to prove the innocence. To be precise they don't want to know the truth.
After all there is truth serum and if those prisoners at Azkaban were fed with this truth serum and asked questions, most of them would be out while most nobles and good people would be sent to Azkaban.
But no one wants truth. What they want is a scapegoat to take the blame and obediently sit in the prison while the criminal outside do more bad deeds without any remorse or fear. This is how the world works and it is same in any world.
Dumbledore also announces that Dementors are to be stationed around the school as a precaution against Sirius Black. This final announcement made many people turn their eye toward Jack.
After all, he is the son of Sirius black. So, all their inconvenience would be blamed on him directly. But the person in question is actually calm without any thoughts of fear from the looks of so many people towards him.
This is their resentment towards the death eaters and towards a traitorous murderer. Also this is their fear towards Voldemort. Their impotent rage did not have an outlet. So they are using him as their outlet righteously like in real life.
Because of the extreme indifference in the eyes of Jack those people could not glare down Jack with their eyes. After all, their impotent rage would vent out only if the other party received it and showed some feeling.
If he did not show any feeling then they could not feel like they have vented. So they original impotent rage would not go away but new anger would form to cause them more trouble in their hearts and mind.
'Since they could not break him down they broke down in return.'
Many dishes appeared in front of them diverting their attention at the right time. So they decided to use their rage and anger on the food. Jack got it special with his good relation with the house elves of Hogwarts kitchen.
They prepared some fried chicken wings and spicy cashew nut biryani for Jack. There is also dessert and flavored shaved ice for Jack. Ice cream is different from the flavored shaved ice that is tingly to eat.
Others are a little envious because these things only appeared in front of Jack in high quantities with excellent visual impact. Even the aroma is so good that the food in front of them no longer felt tasty.
They appeared at other places too but they are not as good looking as the ones in front of Jack. But they could not get them as Romilda and few other girls have surrounded Jack as if protecting him.
Because of their actions their glares intensified because there are many single dogs that got dog food instead of normal food. Jack went to meet with Dumbledore after dinner and chatted a little about his recent progress.
He did not talk about Sirius black or other things which are not necessary. Dumbledore also avoided this topic and did not mention it during their chat. Then he returned back to the dormitory to sleep.
Others have strange eyes looking at Jack but Jack did not care about them. Lessons start the next day. Jack and other Gryffindor students head to the North Tower for their first Divination lesson.
They meet Sybill Trelawney and predict future events using tea leaves. Harry sees a black dog in his tea cup, which Trelawney identifies as the Grim, the omen of death.
