Chapter 65 - PART 66 — The Way He Waits

The car moved forward.

Smooth.

Quiet.

Neither of them spoke.

But this silence—

wasn't uncomfortable anymore.

It was… careful.

Pixel looked outside the window.

Watching the city blur past.

But her mind—

was somewhere else.

Beside her—

Stephan drove calmly.

One hand on the steering wheel.

The other—

resting near the gear.

And wrapped loosely around his fingers—

was something familiar.

Pixel's eyes shifted.

Her breath paused.

Her hairband.

The same one—

she had given him.

"…You still have that?" she asked softly.

Stephan glanced at it briefly.

Then back at the road.

"You gave it to me."

"That doesn't mean you have to keep it all the time."

A small pause.

"I want to."

That was it.

No explanation.

No teasing.

Just intention.

Pixel looked away.

But her heartbeat—

didn't.

Campus — Parking Area

The car stopped.

They stepped out.

And just like always—

attention followed.

Not curiosity.

Recognition.

Because Stephan wasn't someone people ignored.

And today—

he wasn't alone.

They walked together.

Side by side.

Not touching.

But close enough—

to feel it.

Near the Main Building

"STEPPPHAAANN!"

A loud voice cut through the moment.

Pixel didn't even need to turn.

Johan.

And beside him—

Hill.

Both walking toward them—

already smirking.

Like they were watching something finally happen.

Johan's eyes immediately landed on Pixel.

"Well, well…"

Hill shook his head slightly.

"Took you long enough."

Pixel blinked.

"…What?"

Stephan sighed quietly.

"Ignore them."

But Johan stepped closer.

"No, no—don't ignore us. We've earned this moment."

Pixel looked at Stephan.

"They know?"

Hill laughed.

"We knew before you did."

"That's not even a joke," Johan added."It was obvious."

Pixel looked away instantly.

Heart racing.

Stephan stayed calm.

Of course he did.

Then Johan crossed his arms.

"So…"

There it was.

"Did you ask her?"

The question hung in the air.

Pixel's breath slowed.

This time—

she didn't panic.

She just waited.

Stephan looked at Johan.

Then Hill.

Then—

her.

And his expression softened.

"No."

Johan frowned immediately.

"WHY??"

Hill added—

"Don't tell me you're still waiting."

Stephan didn't react to the teasing.

"This isn't the right moment."

Silence.

Johan blinked.

"What do you mean?"

Stephan's voice stayed calm.

"She's already dealing with a lot."

Pixel felt that.

Deeply.

"I'm not going to add pressure to her right now."

Hill nodded slowly.

"Okay… that actually makes sense."

Johan sighed dramatically.

"Hate to admit it, but… green flag behavior."

Pixel couldn't help it.

She smiled.

Just a little.

After They Leave

Johan and Hill walked away—

still whispering:

"Give it a few days.""She's already gone, bro."

Pixel shook her head.

"They're impossible."

"Yeah," Stephan said calmly.

A pause.

"But they're not wrong."

Her heart skipped.

She looked at him.

"You knew I was listening."

"Yes."

"And you still said that?"

"Yes."

A pause.

"Why?"

Stephan stepped a little closer.

Not crossing the line.

But enough—

to make the moment real.

"Because I meant it."

Simple.

Clear.

And steady.

The Quiet Place

They walked to a quieter corner of campus.

Less noise.

Less people.

More space—

for honesty.

Pixel sat down.

Stephan sat beside her.

That same careful distance.

The wind moved gently.

A strand of her hair fell across her face.

She tried to fix it—

But he was faster.

His fingers softly tucked it behind her ear.

Light.

Careful.

Like he understood boundaries—

without being told.

Her breath slowed.

"You're really patient," she whispered.

He leaned back slightly.

"Only where it matters."

A pause.

"And you matter."

Her heart—

completely betrayed her now.

Because that didn't feel like something temporary.

That felt like something real.

Ending Hook

Because sometimes—

the person who doesn't rush you…

is the one you slowly start choosing.

And the scariest part?

You don't even realize when it starts.

But somewhere—

someone else is still holding on.

Still watching.

Still not done yet.
