Chapter 67 - PART 68 — The Things He Didn’t Say

The moment didn't leave her.

Even after she walked away.

Pixel tried to focus on class.

Tried to listen.

Tried to write something—

anything.

But her mind?

Still there.

That bench.

That silence.

That almost.

Her fingers tightened slightly around her pen.

"…Next time, don't stop."

Her own words echoed back.

And her heart reacted—

again.

Fast.

Unsteady.

"Focus," she whispered to herself.

But focus didn't come.

Because something else—

was about to.

Outside the Classroom

The bell rang.

Students started leaving.

Talking.

Laughing.

Living.

Pixel stepped out slowly.

Still lost in her thoughts.

Until—

She stopped.

Because across the corridor—

someone was standing.

Still.

Watching.

Daniel.

Her breath caught.

He hadn't changed.

Same posture.

Same presence.

But something was different.

His eyes.

They weren't angry.

They weren't soft either.

They were…

quiet.

Too quiet.

And that—

felt worse.

Pixel's heartbeat started rising again.

Because this—

this was the moment she knew was coming.

And still—

she wasn't ready.

He didn't walk toward her immediately.

He just stood there.

Like he was deciding something.

Then—

finally—

he moved.

Step by step.

Until he stopped in front of her.

Close.

But not too close.

"Hi."

That was it.

No anger.

No accusation.

Just…

that.

Pixel swallowed.

"…Hi."

Silence followed.

Heavy.

Because both of them knew—

this wasn't just a normal conversation.

The Conversation That Hurts Quietly

"You look better," Daniel said.

Her brows furrowed slightly.

"What?"

"You didn't sleep yesterday."

Her chest tightened.

"You still notice that?"

A faint smile.

"I always do."

That hurt.

More than it should.

Because he still cared.

And she knew it.

"I'm okay," she said softly.

"I can see that."

A pause.

"With him."

There it was.

The thing they were both avoiding.

Pixel didn't respond immediately.

Because there was no easy answer.

"I saw you."

Her breath stopped.

"When?"

Daniel looked away for a second.

"In the garden."

Everything froze.

That moment.

That almost kiss.

He saw it.

Her heart dropped.

"Oh…"

Silence.

Not explosive.

Not dramatic.

Just…

heavy.

"You looked happy."

That line—

hurt the most.

Because it wasn't said with anger.

It was said with truth.

Pixel's eyes lowered.

"I—"

"You don't have to explain."

He cut her off.

Gently.

But firmly.

Because he didn't want excuses.

He wanted honesty.

And maybe—

he already had it.

"I meant what I said yesterday," she whispered.

Daniel nodded once.

"I know."

A pause.

"That's why I didn't come to stop you."

Her eyes lifted.

"What?"

"I could've."

Silence.

"But I didn't."

That meant something.

Something big.

Because for Daniel—

control was never the issue.

Letting go was.

"And that—"

he added quietly,

"wasn't easy."

Her chest tightened again.

"I didn't want to hurt you."

"You did."

No anger.

Just fact.

And that—

hurt more.

The Line That Changes Everything

Daniel looked at her.

Long.

Deep.

Then said—

"But I'm not going to make you feel guilty for it."

That line—

shifted everything.

Because this wasn't obsession anymore.

This was something else.

Something… breaking.

Pixel's eyes softened.

"Daniel…"

He shook his head slightly.

"No."

A pause.

"If you chose him—"

His voice slowed.

"Then choose him properly."

Her breath caught.

Because that—

wasn't what she expected.

"Don't stand in between," he continued.

"Don't look back every time you feel bad for me."

Silence.

"Because that's worse."

That hit.

Deep.

Because he was right.

Again.

Meanwhile — Stephan

He wasn't far.

Not close enough to interrupt.

But not far enough to ignore.

Stephan stood at the end of the corridor.

Watching.

Not the whole conversation.

But enough.

Enough to understand.

His expression didn't change.

But his jaw—

tightened slightly.

Because even he knew—

this wasn't over.

Not completely.

Back to Pixel & Daniel

"You should go," Daniel said quietly.

Pixel didn't move.

"Daniel…"

"I'm serious."

A pause.

"He's waiting."

Her heart skipped.

Because she didn't need to turn to know—

he was right.

"And you chose him," Daniel added.

Soft.

Final.

So she did.

She stepped back.

Slowly.

Then turned.

And walked.

Not running.

Not hesitating.

Just…

walking forward.

The Two Worlds

Stephan stood there.

Waiting.

Just like always.

When Pixel reached him—

he didn't ask anything.

Didn't question.

Didn't pressure.

"You okay?" he asked softly.

She nodded.

Then shook her head slightly.

"Not really."

He nodded.

"Yeah."

Because that made sense.

A pause.

Then—

"Do you want to talk about it?"

She looked at him.

Then slowly—

"…Not right now."

"That's fine."

No push.

No pressure.

Just space.

And that—

felt right.

Ending Hook

Because sometimes—

the hardest part isn't choosing someone.

It's accepting—

that someone else has to let you go.

And even harder?

Knowing they still haven't.

Completely
