Chapter 5 - The academy - 1

The towering gates of Songyang Spirit Master Academy stood before Luo Feng,

Taking a steady breath, he stepped forward.

"Stop right there."

The voice was calm but firm.

A gate guard approached, his sharp eyes scanning Luo Feng's simple clothes and travel-worn appearance.

"State your name and purpose."

Luo Feng straightened. "Luo Feng, from Wuyan Village. I've come to enroll in the academy."

The guard's gaze lingered on him for a moment before shifting to his hands. "Recommendation letter?"

This time, Luo Feng did not hesitate.

He carefully reached into his pack and pulled out a neatly folded letter, its edges slightly worn but seal intact.

"I have one."

The guard took it, examining the seal. His expression changed subtly—just a flicker, but enough to notice.

"Hm… this seal…"

The second guard leaned over. "Is that from a Spirit Hall branch?"

The first guard nodded slightly before handing the letter back.

"You may enter. Go straight to the Administrative Hall. Present this to the instructor there."

His tone had lost its earlier indifference.

"Thank you," Luo Feng replied, tucking the letter away.

As he stepped past the gates, he could feel the difference. With the letter, the path ahead felt… slightly less obstructed.

The Administrative Hall was filled with aspiring students

"Next."

A middle-aged teacher in gray robes sat behind a wooden desk, his movements precise and efficient.

Luo Feng stepped forward and placed the letter on the desk.

"Luo Feng. From Wuyan Village. I've come to enroll."

The teacher glanced at the letter casually at first—but the moment his eyes landed on the seal, his expression shifted.

"Oh?"

He picked it up, opening it carefully. His eyes moved quickly across the contents.

"Interesting…"

He looked up at Luo Feng with a more focused gaze now.

"A recommendation from a Spirit Hall envoy… for someone from Wuyan Village. That's not something you see often."

Murmurs rippled faintly through the nearby students.

"A Spirit Hall recommendation?"

"That kid?"

Luo Feng remained calm, neither confirming nor denying anything beyond what was already evident.

The teacher placed the letter down.

"Very well. Show me your Martial Soul."

Luo Feng nodded. He centered himself and released his Martial Soul.

A subtle aura spread outward from his dagger —quiet, controlled, yet carrying a depth that made the teacher's eyes narrow slightly.

"Stable… and refined," the teacher murmured. "Innate spirit power?"

"Level 5."

Luo feng lied without breaking stride as mentioning level 9 will raise suspicious and attention towards him which he did not want at the moment so he mentioned level 5 , not too great but enough to justify his recommendation.

It's not like he will have to register to spirit hall before getting his first ring nor the spirit hall prying at his innate soul power

So he exploited that information gap

He was sure it would not raise suspicious as he has learnt to control his soul power output

This time, there were still whispers—but fewer, more restrained.

The teacher tapped the desk lightly.

He paused, then lifted the letter again.

" with this recommendation, you are granted direct enrollment."

Luo Feng's eyes flickered slightly.

"Thank you, Teacher."

"Don't thank me yet," the teacher replied calmly. "A recommendation only opens the door. What you do inside is up to you."

He pulled out a registration form and wrote swiftly.

"You will be admitted as a formal student."

Luo Feng blinked. "Formal student?"

"Yes. However—" the teacher's tone sharpened slightly, "—you will need to prove you deserve that status."

"I understand."

The teacher studied him for a moment, then nodded faintly.

"Good."

He handed Luo Feng a token engraved with the number "3".

"Dormitory Three. Standard student housing."

"Thank you teacher"

With that started Luo feng's academy life...
