"Who the hell is killing the mood at a time like this?"
"Honey, don't stop me. I'm definitely going to kill him."
The moment he heard the knock, Wade froze for a beat before his face twisted into open annoyance.
"Oh, give it a rest, Wade. We finally have a visitor."
Vanessa smiled at him, got up from the couch, and went to open the door.
Standing outside was a tall Asian woman dressed head to toe in luxury brands.
From the way she carried herself—and the clothes she wore—it was obvious at a glance that she came from the upper class.
She and people like Vanessa and Wade didn't live in the same world at all.
"Dr. Cho?"
Vanessa looked a little surprised, then frowned. "Sorry, but I thought we already made ourselves clear. We're not agreeing to this."
"Miss Vanessa, please forgive me for disturbing you again, but I believe I may not have explained things clearly enough last time. That may have led you and Mr. Wade to misunderstand."
Helen Cho spoke with complete sincerity.
"So please, give me a little more time. I can assure you—if you truly understand what the Regeneration Cradle is, you won't refuse. This is Mr. Wade's only chance."
"And of course, if you still reject it after that, I promise I'll never appear in front of you again."
The Regeneration Cradle's technology was already mature and stable.
Animal trials had shown no issues at all.
Now it was entering the human clinical testing phase.
And to Helen Cho, a severely disfigured Wade was an incredibly representative case.
Ever since she had run into Deadpool by chance three months ago, she had been interested in him as a subject.
But Wade had rejected her without hesitation.
He had no intention of becoming someone else's lab rat.
What Wade hadn't expected was for this woman to be so persistent that she would show up again.
"Dr. Cho, I'm truly sorry you made another wasted trip." Wade suddenly appeared in the doorway, cutting in. "And do you know why?"
Then he leaned toward Helen with all the swagger in the world.
"Because right now… I'm just too damn handsome."
Ignoring Wade's shameless tone completely, Helen's attention was instantly seized by the smooth, flawless face in front of her.
Her eyes widened on the spot.
As if she were staring at something impossible.
"Mr. Wade?"
Just like Vanessa before her, Helen's first reaction was the same.
This man couldn't possibly be Wade.
"Honey, look at her. She's exactly like you were just now." Deadpool wrapped an arm around Vanessa and laughed smugly. "I absolutely love the look on people's faces when I leave them stunned speechless."
"My apologies, Mr. Wade. I lost my composure for a moment."
Helen gradually forced herself to calm down.
She knew now that the man standing before her really was Wade.
Back when his face had been a wreck, you could still roughly make out the shape underneath.
And now, combined with that unbearably punchable personality, there was no way to mistake him.
This was Wade.
She just had no idea how his face had been restored.
"Understandable," Wade said with a casual wave. "Even the woman who sleeps beside me every night reacted like that, so I can't blame you."
Then he started shooing her away.
"So, you can leave now."
"Wait, Mr. Wade, please wait!"
Helen hurriedly stopped the door from closing, her face full of urgency and excitement.
"Do you realize what happened to you can only be described as a miracle? Modern medicine simply cannot achieve something like this!"
"I know this may be rude, but can you tell me where you had your face restored?"
Aside from the Regeneration Cradle, Helen couldn't think of any technology in the world capable of something like this.
"I almost forgot. The shop owner asked me to help introduce customers."
Only then did Wade seem to remember.
He muttered to himself, then suddenly looked at Helen.
"Dr. Cho… have you ever heard of Devil Fruits?"
Devil Fruits?
Helen looked completely blank.
What on earth was that?
…
The next day.
"Boss!"
At the moment, there were no customers in the store.
Rorschach had nothing better to do, so he took out his phone and played a couple matches of Honor of Kings.
Still, the international server felt weird. A lot of the hero models were different, and even the skills didn't quite match the domestic version. The whole thing felt awkward to play.
Then suddenly, a message popped up in the group chat.
It was Deadpool calling for him.
Since the game wasn't that fun anyway, Rorschach exited immediately and replied, "What is it, Wade?"
"Boss, I introduced you to a seriously solid customer!"
"I'm telling you, she's a woman too. Super pretty. Long arms, long legs, great figure. I think she's Korean, so she should totally match your taste."
"Her voice is soft and nice too, and she's rich. I think she even knows Tony Stark. She's some insanely impressive scientist. Boss, you'd better grab this chance…"
Looking at the endless stream of messages pouring into the group, Rorschach could only smile bitterly.
Was this guy introducing him to a customer…
or setting him up on a date?
Still, he really was curious about the person Wade was talking about.
If Deadpool wasn't exaggerating for once, then this woman was definitely somebody extraordinary.
Just knowing Tony Stark already said enough.
"So Wade, exactly what kind of big shot did you introduce me to?" Rorschach asked with genuine curiosity.
"Her name's Helen Cho! Anyway, I'm not lying to you. She definitely has money. Spending a million on a fruit would be nothing to her."
"I talked to her a little about Devil Fruits yesterday, and she seemed seriously interested."
"Boss, if this deal goes through, you owe me one! Next time I buy a Devil Fruit, you better give me a discount!"
Helen Cho?
Rorschach immediately recognized the name.
Deadpool actually hadn't been bragging this time.
She really was loaded.
His expectations rose instantly.
But what the hell kind of connection did Wade have with someone like Helen Cho?
The gap between their circles was massive.
Curious, Rorschach asked a few more questions.
Deadpool then gave him a rough explanation of the "fateful connection" between the two of them.
"Devil Fruits? This should be the place, right?"
As Rorschach was chatting idly with Wade in the group, a voice suddenly rang out.
At the same time, a beautiful woman with a graceful figure and delicate features stepped into his line of sight.
Helen Cho.
Rorschach recognized her immediately.
The woman standing before him was none other than Helen Cho.
"Helen Cho's here. Talk later."
Rorschach quickly sent one last message to Wade, then put away his phone and walked forward with a warm smile to greet her.
