The room had turned into a battlefield.
Broken glass crunched underfoot. The walls were cracked, scorched, and barely holding together. The red emergency lights flickered overhead, casting long, distorted shadows across the chaos.
Seven of them.
Seven controlled bodies with empty eyes.
And one team that wasn't ready—but had no choice.
"Spread out!" Meera shouted.
Her voice cut through the tension like a command everyone instinctively followed.
Kabir vanished first.
A blur of motion as he darted across the room, striking one of the creatures from the side. This time, he didn't aim to push it back—he aimed to distract.
"Left side open!" he yelled.
Raghav didn't hesitate.
Flames erupted from his hands, brighter and hotter than before. He stepped forward and unleashed a concentrated blast, forcing two of the creatures back at once.
But they didn't burn.
They adapted.
"That's not normal!" Raghav growled.
"They're resisting!"
Neel moved next.
He raised both hands slowly.
A translucent barrier formed in front of the team just as one of the creatures lunged forward. The impact slammed into the shield, sending a deep vibration through the air.
Neel winced.
"They're stronger than before…"
Aarav stepped forward.
Blue energy surged around him again, brighter than it had ever been. But this time, it wasn't wild.
It was focused.
Controlled.
"Don't attack blindly," he said.
"They're being controlled. We need to break that."
Zara tilted her head slightly, her eyes narrowing as she observed the creatures.
"No… it's deeper than that," she said.
"They're not just controlled. Their perception is altered."
Aarav glanced at her.
"What does that mean?"
Zara stepped forward.
"It means they don't see us as we are."
Before anyone could respond—
One of the creatures rushed straight toward Aarav.
Aarav didn't move.
At the last second—
He shifted.
The creature's attack missed completely.
It hesitated.
Just for a second.
"That's it," Zara said.
"They're reacting to something else."
Aarav understood instantly.
"They're not tracking us… they're tracking signals."
Meera stepped beside him.
"Then we change the signal."
A brief moment of silence.
Then—
Everything moved at once.
Kabir accelerated again, but this time his path wasn't straight.
He zig-zagged unpredictably, forcing the creatures to miscalculate.
Raghav increased the intensity of his flames—but instead of aiming directly, he spread them across the ground, creating heat distortions in the air.
Zara closed her eyes.
The atmosphere shifted.
Subtle.
But enough.
The creatures slowed.
"Now!" Meera shouted.
Aarav moved.
This time, his energy wasn't explosive.
It was precise.
He struck the nearest creature directly in the chest.
Not to push it back—
But to disrupt it.
Blue energy surged through its body.
For a moment—
Its eyes flickered.
A crack.
A small one.
"It's working!" Kabir shouted.
But the moment didn't last.
The creature grabbed Aarav's arm.
Hard.
"You… cannot… interfere…"
Its voice was clearer now.
Less broken.
More… aware.
Aarav's eyes widened.
"Who are you?" he demanded.
The creature leaned closer.
"You were not supposed… to awaken this early…"
Aarav felt something shift inside him.
That sentence—
It wasn't random.
It was directed.
"Answer me!" Aarav shouted.
The creature's grip tightened.
Then—
It smiled.
And suddenly—
A shockwave burst out.
Everyone was thrown back.
The room trembled.
The lights flickered violently again.
Something had changed.
The remaining creatures stopped moving.
Completely still.
"Why did they stop?" Neel asked, struggling to get up.
Meera didn't answer.
Her eyes were fixed on them.
"They're not stopping…"
She whispered.
"They're waiting."
A low hum filled the air.
Then—
All seven of them looked up at the same time.
Not at the team.
Above.
Aarav felt it instantly.
A presence.
Different from before.
Sharper.
Smarter.
And much more dangerous.
The ceiling above them cracked.
A dark energy seeped through the fracture.
Not like the man with black eyes.
This was colder.
More controlled.
More… precise.
Zara stepped back.
"This isn't him…"
Raghav clenched his fists.
"Then who the hell is it?"
The answer came—
Not from the team.
But from above.
A voice.
Clear.
Calm.
And completely unfamiliar.
"Subject A-17…"
Aarav froze.
"That code again…" he whispered.
The voice continued.
"So you've finally reached this stage."
Aarav looked up.
"Show yourself!"
A pause.
Then—
A figure slowly descended from the darkness.
Not floating like the other one.
Walking.
As if the air itself was solid beneath him.
He wore a simple black suit.
No distortion.
No chaos.
Just control.
His eyes were normal.
But his presence—
Was not.
Meera stepped back.
For the first time—
She looked afraid.
"That's impossible…"
Aarav looked at her.
"You know him?"
Meera's voice was low.
"He's not supposed to be alive."
The man stepped forward.
Calm.
Measured.
His gaze locked onto Aarav.
"You've grown faster than expected," he said.
Aarav felt something cold run down his spine.
"Who are you?"
The man stopped.
And smiled.
"Your beginning."
Silence.
Everything stopped.
Aarav's mind raced.
Beginning.
Future.
Experiment.
Pieces started connecting.
Before he could speak—
The man raised his hand.
The controlled creatures moved again.
But this time—
They moved differently.
Perfect synchronization.
No hesitation.
No delay.
"Phase Two is complete," the man said calmly.
"And now…"
His eyes sharpened.
"Let's begin Phase Three."
