Chapter 113 - CHAPTER 113:SYSTEM UPDATE AND VARNAX SUMMONS

The council chamber emptied, leaving Kafu alone with his thoughts and the soft hum of his wives' auras. He closed his eyes, and the golden text blazed before him.

[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION]

"Host has 2,443,028,000 CP and 1,000,000 TP remaining. Recommend redeeming before next major battle."

---

Kafu studied the notifications, a smile crossing his face. The system had grown with him, expanded beyond its original limits. And there was more to come.

But before he could consider the rewards, a knock came at the chamber door.

Varus entered, his expression unreadable. "Master. A message has arrived."

"From whom?"

"Lord Valerius Varnax. The head of House Varnax." Varus's ancient eyes held a glint of amusement. "He wishes to congratulate you on your students' success. And to invite you to his estate for a... celebration."

Kafu's smile sharpened. "The clone's work is bearing fruit."

"Indeed. The Varnax family believes you are a rising star they can attach themselves to. They want to flatter you. Bribe you. Bind you to their house."

"And they have no idea who they're dealing with."

Varus allowed himself a small smile. "None whatsoever, master."

---

THE VARNAX ESTATE

Three days later, Kafu arrived at the Varnax family estate—a sprawling complex of obsidian towers and crystalline gardens that floated in the void between worlds. The wealth on display was obscene: statues carved from starlight, fountains that flowed with liquid mana, gardens where flowers bloomed that cost more than a planet.

His clone had done well. The Varnax family believed Kafu was a powerful but naive cultivator, newly risen, eager for allies, ripe for manipulation.

They were about to learn otherwise.

Lord Valerius Varnax awaited him at the estate's grand entrance. He was a tall man, silver-haired, his eyes sharp with the cunning of a being who had spent millennia accumulating power through betrayal. Behind him stood his family—sons, daughters, cousins, all dressed in finery that could bankrupt civilizations.

"Master Kafu!" Valerius spread his arms wide, his smile practiced and warm. "At last, we meet in person. Your reputation precedes you. The Thousand vs One. The twelve ancestors. Your students claiming all five thrones." He laughed, a sound like silver coins clinking. "The universe has not seen such a rising star in eons."

Kafu inclined his head, his gold-red eyes revealing nothing. "Lord Varnax. Your hospitality is appreciated."

"Please, call me Valerius. We are allies now, are we not?" He gestured toward the estate. "Come, come. I have prepared a feast in your honor. There is much to discuss."

---

THE FEAST

The banquet hall was vast, its ceiling a projection of the Varnax family's territories—worlds they owned, controlled, or influenced. Kafu counted forty-seven, the same number as the Shadow Collective's remaining worlds.

Coincidence? Unlikely.

Valerius seated Kafu at his right hand, a position of honor usually reserved for the family's closest allies. The feast that followed was obscene: dishes made from extinct creatures, wines aged for millennia, desserts sweetened with the essence of stars.

And through it all, Valerius watched him. Assessing. Calculating.

"Your students," Valerius said between courses. "Extraordinary young cultivators. I hear they have returned to train with the First Legends."

"They have."

"And you? What are your plans, now that you have wealth, power, and influence beyond measure?"

Kafu took a sip of wine. "I intend to free the remaining worlds of the Shadow Collective."

The table went silent. Valerius's smile did not waver, but his eyes sharpened.

"A noble goal. But dangerous. The Collective's remaining leaders are fortified. They have allies. Resources." He leaned closer. "But you are not without allies yourself. House Varnax has resources. Armies. Intelligence networks. We could help you."

"In exchange for what?"

Valerius laughed, waving a hand. "Exchange? We are friends, Kafu. Allies. There is no need for such transactional thinking." He paused, his eyes glinting. "But if you insist... a small percentage of the liberated worlds' resources. A seat on your council. And perhaps..." He glanced at one of his daughters, a young woman with silver hair and calculating eyes. "...a closer bond between our houses."

Kafu's expression did not change. "I will consider your offer."

Valerius beamed. "That is all I ask."

---

THE GIFT

After the feast, Valerius led Kafu to a private chamber. In its center, displayed on a pedestal of pure light, was a sphere of condensed reality—a Star Core, the heart of a dying star compressed into a crystal the size of a fist. It pulsed with power that made the air itself tremble.

Valerius's voice was reverent. "This, my friend, is a Star Core. The heart of a star that was dying, compressed into a crystal that contains enough power to fuel a civilization for a million years. It can be used to forge weapons that cut through dimensions. To power arrays that can shield entire worlds. To fuel cultivation breakthroughs that would take millennia."

He placed a hand on Kafu's shoulder.

"I obtained it at great cost. Three of my best operatives died securing it from the Forge of Eternity. But for you—for our alliance—it is a gift."

Kafu studied the Star Core. It was genuine. He could feel its power resonating with his own, could see the layers of compressed reality within its crystalline structure.

It was also a trap.

Valerius was offering him something of genuine value—something that would create obligation, that would bind him to House Varnax through gratitude. Accept it, and he would be in their debt. Refuse it, and he would insult a powerful ally.

Kafu reached out and took the Star Core, feeling its warmth spread through his fingers.

"It is magnificent," he said quietly. "You honor me beyond measure."

Valerius's smile widened. "Then you accept?"

"I accept your gift. And I accept your offer of alliance." Kafu met his eyes. "When the time comes to liberate the remaining worlds, House Varnax will have its share."

They shook hands, and Kafu felt the faint brush of a soul-binding contract—a trap disguised as a gesture of trust.

He let it touch his soul. And with the subtlety of a master, he reversed it.

Valerius felt nothing. But from this moment forward, every promise he made, every alliance he forged, every betrayal he planned—Kafu would know. The reversed contract bound Valerius's soul to Kafu's will without the Varnax lord ever realizing it.

---

THE RETURN

As Kafu departed the Varnax estate, his clone materialized beside him.

Clone 1's voice was grim. "He plans to betray you. After the worlds are liberated, after your forces are spread thin, he will strike. He has already made deals with three of the Shadow Collective's remaining leaders."

Kafu smiled, turning the Star Core in his hands. "I know. The contract told me everything."

Clone 1's eyes widened. "You reversed it?"

"While he was congratulating himself on his cleverness." Kafu tucked the Star Core into his storage. "He thinks I am a rising star he can use. He does not know I am the Scorpion who will devour him."

Clone 1 nodded slowly. "What now?"

Kafu looked toward the stars, toward the forty-six worlds still in chains.

"Now, we prepare. In three days, we begin. World by world, we dismantle the Shadow Collective. And when Varnax moves to betray us..." His gold-red eyes blazed. "He will find that the hunter has become the prey."

---

THE COUNCIL CHAMBER — PREPARATIONS

Back in New Hope, Kafu gathered his council. The twelve ancestors took their thrones. The twenty-one commanders stood at attention. Varus stood at Kafu's right hand, a holographic map of the Shadow Collective's remaining worlds projected before them.

[THE REMAINING FORTY-SIX WORLDS]

World Group Number of Worlds Threat Level Primary Defense

Outer Rim 18 Low-Moderate Genesis Lord garrisons

Mid Sector 15 Moderate-High Void Knight commanders

Inner Core 10 High Eternity Master fortresses

The Fortress Worlds 3 Extreme Eternal Celestial guardians

Kafu studied the map, his gold-red eyes tracking every detail.

"Varus. What is the status of our forces?"

His strategist stepped forward. "The army is ready, master. Five thousand Realm Lords. Thirty thousand Dantian Genesis warriors. Eighteen thousand Chakra Bloom reserves. Ten thousand shadow soldiers. Five thousand transcendent beasts. Twenty-one commanders at Eternity Master level."

"And the Shadow Collective's forces?"

"Estimated at fifty thousand across all worlds. Most are Genesis Lord level. Their commanders are Void Knight to Eternity Master. The Fortress Worlds are guarded by Eternal Celestials—three of them, each with their own armies."

Kafu nodded slowly. "We hit them fast. Hit them hard. World by world, we dismantle their infrastructure before they can reinforce each other."

Elara stepped forward. "What of the Varnax family? They promised support."

"They will support us. For now." Kafu's smile was cold. "And when they move to betray us, we will be ready."

---

THE BATTLE PLAN

Kafu rose from his throne, the map expanding to fill the chamber.

"Phase One: The Outer Rim." He highlighted eighteen worlds, scattered across the edge of Collective territory. "We strike these simultaneously. No warning. No survivors. Their garrisons are weak, their commanders complacent. The shadow soldiers will infiltrate, the Realm Lords will strike, and within one week, these worlds will be free."

The commanders nodded.

"Phase Two: The Mid Sector." Fifteen worlds, each with Void Knight commanders. "Here, we face real resistance. We will not take these worlds by force alone. Seraphina—your intelligence network will identify their leaders. Morana—your shadows will eliminate them. When the commanders fall, their armies will crumble."

Morana's shadows deepened. "It will be done."

"Phase Three: The Inner Core." Ten worlds, each defended by Eternity Master fortresses. "These will require our full force. The army will engage their defenses while the ancestors and I deal with their commanders. We take them one by one, learning from each battle, adapting our tactics."

Kyrella's Starlight blazed. "We are ready."

"Phase Four: The Fortress Worlds." The map zoomed in on three worlds, each guarded by an Eternal Celestial. "These are the heart of the Collective. Their leaders know we are coming. They have fortified, prepared, waited. We will not give them time to scheme." He looked at his wives. "Each of you will take one world. Terrana, Aquana, Ignia—you will lead the assault. The rest will support."

The three ancestors rose, their power filling the chamber.

"It will be done," Terrana said.

Kafu looked at them all—his wives, his commanders, his army.

"In three days, we begin. In three months, the Shadow Collective will be nothing but a memory. And the universe will know that the Scorpion King does not forget. Does not forgive. Does not stop."

The council rose as one.

---

THE NIGHT BEFORE

That night, Kafu stood at the edge of New Hope, looking toward the stars. The Star Core pulsed in his storage, its power waiting to be used.

Kyrella found him there, her Starlight form soft in the darkness.

"You're thinking about the battle."

"I'm thinking about what comes after." He looked at her. "The Shadow Collective falls. Varnax betrays us. We survive. And then... then there will be nothing stopping us from freeing every world in chains."

She slipped her hand into his. "And Makena?"

He touched the rune on his heart. "When the worlds are free. When the promise is fulfilled. Then I wake her."

Kyrella leaned against him. "She will be proud of you."

"She will be proud of us. All of us." He looked at the stars. "We are not just freeing worlds, Kyrella. We are building something that will last. A civilization where no one is born in chains. Where no one is sold for profit. Where every soul has a chance to become what they were meant to be."

She smiled. "That is a dream worth fighting for."

"It is a promise worth keeping."
