In the morning, Shirou packed up all the trash left from yesterday's party and set it aside, planning to take it out when he left later.
After briefly checking out Kanshou and Bakuya yesterday, everyone did not press further. They were nothing like Yith who would keep digging until he got to the bottom of things, he had even carefully recorded why Shirou's arrows could curve midair.
In comparison to Yith the people from Penguin Logistics were not nearly as curious. Aside from being shocked at first they just touched the weapons, asked a few simple questions, and moved on.
Honestly, that was better.
If everyone had interrogated him like Yith did, it would have been a real headache for Shirou.
Explaining things like functions and effects purely with words was already difficult. Yith had even wanted Shirou to demonstrate a full Broken Phantasm on the spot but for the sake of his own life, Shirou firmly refused.
Ring ring…
Shirou's phone rang again. He felt like he had been using it a lot more lately.
He glanced at the number, it was Yith.
"This is Shirou speaking."
Putting down what he was doing, he answered the call.
"Shirou? I have shown your test results and evaluation to the Boss. He is very satisfied… and I also enjoyed watching it—ahem, I mean, the Boss is very satisfied, and he plans to adjust your work arrangement."
Yith spoke over the phone, though Shirou was pretty sure he heard him say he enjoyed it.
"Adjust… my work arrangement? What kind of adjustment?"
Shirou thought about it. He was already working as a housekeeper plus occasionally going on long-distance jobs, what else could be changed?
Would they make him work like the others full-time?
"First, regarding logistics which I mentioned before, that will still be handled by me. You can choose to work like the others taking flexible delivery jobs daily, occasionally doing solo long-distance runs."
Yith explained clearly. These were all decisions made by the Boss he was just relaying the message.
"Hmm… since it is a choice, that means there is another option?"
Shirou felt the first option did not quite suit him.
He was still in the process of learning about this world, its knowledge and common sense. Even after a month, he had only reached the level of an average person.
"The other option is to maintain your current role by continuing to take care of the Penguin Logistics members daily. However, when they take long-distance jobs, you will accompany them not as logistics but as armed personnel. Of course, payment will be calculated separately."
Yith had already anticipated Shirou's reaction and discussed this option with the Boss beforehand.
And as expected, Shirou hesitated at the first option.
"I will take this one, just keep things as they are."
This suited Shirou perfectly. Flexible time, plenty of freedom, and he did not need a lot of money anyway.
It also matched what he originally planned, to spend time reading and learning while occasionally going out on missions to experience the outside world.
"Understood. I will inform the Boss. You can continue as usual, and your salary will be adjusted accordingly. Also while in Lungmen, do not casually use your ability. It may attract unwanted attention, especially that explosive technique."
Yith gave a warning.
After thoroughly questioning Shirou yesterday, he now had a good understanding of his abilities, especially the black-and-white twin blades and the explosive effect.
The ability to summon powerful weapons at will was something many people would fear.
Just like the Infected—no one knows when someone might suddenly attack using Originium Arts.
And in Shirou's case, it was not just weapons—he could turn them into bombs.
That was also why Is recommended him for a Caster role.
"I would not use it unless necessary."
Shirou recalled using it against some thugs before but that was an exception.
With Yith's warning, he decided to be more careful when using magecraft in Lungmen.
Outside, however… if it was during missions, using it for self-defense was perfectly reasonable.
"That's good. For long-distance jobs, the others at Penguin Logistics can brief you. But personally, I suggest asking Texas or Sora. As for Exusiai and Croissant…"
Yith fell silent at that point.
"Got it, I will ask them."
Shirou could guess why Yith went quiet.
Exusiai and Croissant were just a bit chaotic but when it came to serious matters… they should be reliable.
…Probably.
Thinking about their usual behavior, Shirou was not entirely sure.
"That's all for now. This call was mainly to inform you of these changes. The Boss thinks highly of you."
"Alright. Please pass along my regards to the Boss."
"No problem. Though… I do have a personal question, if you do not mind?"
Yith had been about to hang up, but suddenly remembered something.
"What is it?"
After yesterday, Shirou was already used to Yith's curiosity.
"If yesterday's test environment had been favorable to you, how long would it have taken you to eliminate all the machines?"
While selecting footage for the Boss, Yith noticed that Shirou could not fully utilize his abilities in that confined environment yet still achieved excellent results.
So he was very curious about Shirou's performance under optimal conditions.
"Let me think… in the best-case scenario, probably under a minute?"
Shirou considered it.
The ideal situation would be attacking from long range, using Caladbolg shaped as an arrow combined with Broken Phantasm to wipe everything out.
That would take about 30 seconds but to be safe, he said one minute.
Of course, such perfect conditions were rare.
Most of the time, you could not choose your battlefield.
"…Under a minute, huh? Understood. Thank you for answering my question. I will report back to the Boss now."
Satisfied, Yith hung up.
"…"
Shirou could not help but feel that Yith's thirst for knowledge was a bit… intense.
