Even on the rare occasions he seemed cold, people would attribute it to the distance created by his social standing, not to his personal feelings.
But Summer Thorne had detected an unfriendly tone in what he'd just said.
For a moment, she couldn't quite put her finger on the source of this unfriendliness.
"He wasn't always this long-winded. It's probably because he's been sick. There are fewer people around him than before, and his own mindset has changed." Summer Thorne leaned against the bathroom counter. "As for the Carrington Group shares, with so many members of the Carrington Family watching like hawks, how could they possibly fall to me?"
As Timothy York organized his toiletries, he asked, "But what if he's truly set on giving them to you?"
