An hour later, the car drove from Nancaster to Noriver City, arriving at the Vaughn family home.
"Miss Vaughn, we're here."
As the car stopped, Pearl Jewel turned and called out softly.
Rhea Vaughn was awake, but Stella Lockwood had dozed off and was woken by the call.
"Oh," Rhea Vaughn replied. She turned to look at Stella Lockwood, who stirred but seemed ready to go back to sleep. Instead of getting out, Rhea hesitated for a moment before saying, "Sister, we're home. Why don't you... stay the night here?"
Stella Lockwood, still groggy from sleep, thought she was hearing things. 'My sister, my sworn enemy... has she had a complete change of heart today? Not only did she call me Sister, but she's even inviting me to stay over?'
She opened her eyes and looked at her warily. "What new scheme are you cooking up now?"
"I... I just think it's too late, and I want you to stay for a night. I'm worried something might happen to you on the road..." Rhea Vaughn mumbled under her breath.
