She didn't just reject the call; to prevent Jace Lennox from calling back to harass Phoebe Faulkner, she turned the phone off completely.
Only after turning it off did she put the phone back in Phoebe Faulkner's bag.
In a car under the pitch-black sky, the man's brow furrowed when the call was disconnected.
He hit redial.
But the voice on the other end announced, "The number you have dialed has been switched off. Please try again later."
'Rejected? And then she turned it off?'

Phoebe Faulkner quickly returned from the restroom.
