After a full day of fun, Phoebe Faulkner was completely exhausted. Towards the end, she could barely lift her feet and wanted nothing more than to sleep.
Jace Lennox quickly noticed how tired Phoebe was.
Seeing this, he walked over and crouched down in front of her. As Phoebe stared in surprise, he turned his back to her and said, "Hop on."
Phoebe looked at Jace's back. After a moment of silence, she wrapped her arms around his neck and draped herself over his back.
Jace stood up and started walking, carrying her on his back.
As she watched the amusement park lights twinkle, Phoebe felt, from her perch on Jace's back, as if the whole world was illuminated.
Phoebe no longer asked Jace about her older brother. She knew that if she brought it up again, he would get upset. She believed that as long as his feelings for her were genuine, he would one day tell her where her brother was.
