The scent of body wash lingered in the air around Evelyn Grant. She took Preston Keaton's hand, led him to the sofa to sit, and went to get the hairdryer to dry his hair.
She was afraid of pulling his hair, so her movements were gentle. Her hands felt like feathers, their light touch sending a pleasant tingle through him.
A cool weariness was settled in Preston Keaton's features. He closed his eyes slightly to rest.
"I had Wyatt Walsh buy you a plane ticket back to Solara for tomorrow night."
He could feel Evelyn Grant's hand pause. "Really?" she asked, stunned.
She had thought Preston Keaton was really going to keep her captive in Veridia, that his heart was as hard as stone. She had already decided that when he left Veridia, there was no way she would stay here obediently.
Her joy was written all over her face.
