People don't feel pain when they're in the midst of doing something truly insane.
Take Renee Kane, for example. The explosive energy coursing through her was enough to make the most resolute warrior beg for death, yet her face was still plastered with a maniacal grin.
She grinned, speaking gleefully to the desperately struggling Xylos, "Do you feel it? You're being... devoured by me, little by little."
But for all the madness behind Renee Kane's smile, it was Xylos who was truly about to lose its mind.
It simply couldn't comprehend how a Cerulean like Renee Kane—someone who was no different from an ant in its eyes—had managed to push it this far.
"This is wrong... All wrong, all wrong, ALL WRONG!!!"
As Xylos let out a hoarse, enraged roar, its massive eyeball suddenly began to throb like a heart. Each pulse felt like a colossal hammer slamming into Renee Kane's mind.
After just two or three pulses, blood was already trickling from Renee Kane's ears and eyes.
