But the man beside her didn't seem to hear a thing. He didn't even flinch, let alone turn his head to glance at her.
His gaze remained fixed on the person in the distance.
The tall woman glanced back at the masked figure.
'The woman is wearing a mask. You can't even see her face. What is River Larkin even looking at?'
Growing more and more annoyed, she finally shoved the man beside her. "Is she really that interesting? You can't even take your eyes off her!"
"What the hell are you doing—"
River Larkin shot her an irritated glare, his eyes flashing with a dark look. But the next moment, when he clearly saw the woman's face, his expression shifted again.
He said apologetically, "Sorry, Selene. I think I just saw someone I used to know. I lost my composure for a second."
The woman he called Selene Larkin still looked at him in disbelief, as if she couldn't believe he'd spoken to her like that.
