Chapter 1 - why me?

How has it happened?"

"Why me?"

I thought to myself as I lay on the bed inside the dorm of an elite university. Somehow, I had managed to get in through a scholarship… well, not me, but my "character," to be exact.

I was still trying to wrap my head around this unbelievable reality, caught between confusion and disbelief.

It had been a day since I had unknowingly transmigrated into this world—more specifically, into a novel. Yes, a novel.

And not just that…

I had transmigrated as an extra.

A pretty useless one at that.

I checked the time on my phone and got up with a sigh, realizing there was no point in overthinking this twisted truth. Whether I liked it or not, I had to go through the motions.

I got dressed neatly, making sure I looked presentable enough to match the socialites attending this university.

Well… not like it really mattered.

I was just an extra—barely mentioned in the actual story. That was probably why my character didn't even have a name.

I placed a hand on my cheek as I stared at my reflection in the mirror.

I looked the same as my original self… at least, my face did.

Then my gaze shifted downward, toward my legs.

If there was one thing I was grateful for in this "novel," it was this body—one that had miraculously become healthy.

The bustling campus suddenly fell silent as a Mercedes-Benz came to a stop at the main gate.

I let out a quiet sigh, already knowing what was coming next.

Stepping out of the car was a group of three—loud, chatty, and impossible to ignore. Of course, they immediately became the center of attention.

After all, the luxurious car belonged to the male lead of the novel—

Ryan Watt.

He wasn't here to attend classes, though. He had only come to drop off his younger brother and a friend's sister—the supporting cast, who were also part of the female lead's friend circle. It was only their second day at college.

The typical "dashing CEO of a rich company" stayed inside the car, casually checking his emails before driving away.

"The Cold Duke of the North…" I muttered to myself, peeking through the crowd as whispers spread among the students while the group walked past.

"Way to start our first day by getting into trouble," Samuel Watt—Ryan's younger brother—said with a smirk, glancing at his cousin, Alex.

"It's thanks to you two that we got into trouble on the very first day. Honestly…" Zara added, rolling her eyes.

"Oh, come on! If it weren't for those idiots badmouthing you and Lily—" Alex cut himself off mid-sentence as he remembered the new friend they had made just the previous day, the female lead.

"Speakig of her… where is our little friend?"

He looked around just as another luxurious car screeched to a halt at the gate.

All of them stopped and turned toward the sound.

Meanwhile, I had been part of the crowd all along.

And just like that—

The entrance of the female lead sent another wave of whispers and stares through the campus.
