Chapter 2: The First Change
Morning light filled the room as Yassin stood silently in front of the mirror, staring at his reflection
as if trying to fully accept the reality in front of him, same body, same face, but inside, everything
had changed, his mind was sharper, filled with memories of a future that no longer existed, a
future full of mistakes he now had the chance to fix, "This is real…" he whispered, taking a slow
breath as his heart began to beat faster, not from fear, but from a strange excitement, suddenly,
his phone buzzed, breaking the silence, he glanced at the screen and froze for a brief second,
Omar, his best friend, a message appeared, **"Are you coming to class or still sleeping?"**,
Yassin stared at it longer than necessary, memories flooding back instantly, laughter, trust,
moments they shared… and the betrayal that would come later, his eyes narrowed slightly as his
expression hardened, "This time… I'll be careful," he replied quickly before getting ready, his
movements more precise, more focused, as if every second now carried weight, as if time itself
had become something valuable, when he arrived at school, everything felt familiar yet
completely different, the same noise, the same students, the same routine, but for him, it felt like
stepping into a past version of the world with knowledge no one else had, "I remember this day…"
he thought as he entered the classroom, "This is where I failed," his jaw tightened, but before he
could even sit, a strict voice cut through the noise, "Yassin, come solve this on the board," the
teacher called, and instantly, the classroom fell silent as some students exchanged amused looks,
they already expected failure, that was the Yassin they knew, the one who always struggled, the
one who embarrassed himself, he stood up slowly and walked toward the board, feeling every
pair of eyes on him, in his past life, this exact moment had marked the beginning of his downfall,
he failed, they laughed, and his confidence shattered, but now, things were different, as he
looked at the exercise, something clicked in his mind, he had seen it before, he remembered it,
step by step, calmly, he began writing, ignoring the whispers, ignoring the pressure, focusing only
on the solution, until finally, he reached the answer and stopped, silence filled the room, heavy
and tense, the teacher stared at the board, clearly surprised, "…Correct," he said after a few
seconds, and immediately, whispers spread across the class, shock, disbelief, confusion, Yassin
turned around calmly, hiding the small sense of victory inside him, as he walked back to his seat,
his eyes moved instinctively toward the window, and that's when he saw her, Hajar, sitting quietly,
watching him, their eyes met for a brief moment, and she smiled, a soft, simple smile that carried
more meaning than words, memories rushed back instantly, she had believed in him, supported
him, stood by him… and he had lost her, his chest tightened slightly as determination grew
stronger inside him, "This time… I won't lose you," he thought, but before he could stay in that
moment, a sarcastic voice broke the silence, "Wow… what a miracle today," Karim said with a
mocking smile, his tone filled with arrogance, "Solving one exercise doesn't mean anything,"
some students laughed quietly, waiting for the old Yassin to stay silent like always, to accept it like
always, but this time, things were different, Yassin lifted his head and looked directly at Karim, his
gaze calm but cold, "Thanks for the reminder… I'll make sure you remember it too," the
classroom fell into complete silence, tension filling the air as Karim's expression changed slightly,
surprised by this unexpected response, Yassin simply looked away and sat down, his mind already
moving forward, step by step, plan by plan, he knew what he had to do, fix his studies, protect his
relationships, build his future, "This is just the beginning…" he thought as he looked outside, the
same world, the same sky, but a completely different path, and deep inside, he could feel itclearly—everything had already started to change.
