Chapter 7 - Scoring Mechanism

"Reasoning complete, closing case."

"Case Summary Evaluation: B"

"Knowledge: S"

"Courage: B"

"Social: C"

"Settlement complete. Overall rating is B. No extra rewards. Please try harder next time!"

Looking at this panel, Takato's mental state collapsed!

So, no rewards unless he gets an "S" rank?

No! Why is this score so low?! He thought he could quickly rack up points by knowing the correct answers!

He originally thought that with so many cases in the detective conan world, solving a few and getting an "S" rank would be a piece of cake!

This settlement panel gives him no chance at all!

At this moment, Kana Mizuguchi walked over and bowed deeply to Takato, completely oblivious to his current dejected state.

"Detective Akechi! Thank you so much! If it weren't for you, I really don't know what I would have done."

Shifting his attention from the panel back to the reality in front of him, Takato, seeing Kana Mizuguchi express her gratitude, politely responded.

"It's nothing. After all, finding the truth is a Detective's duty. I just did what I was supposed to do. And now that the matter has been resolved perfectly, I should take my leave."

He just wanted to leave here quickly and thoroughly study this settlement panel.

"Oh, Detective Akechi, are you leaving already? But I haven't properly repaid your life-saving kindness!"

Kana Mizuguchi wanted Takato to stay.

"Yes, Detective Akechi, you've had a long journey. It's not too late to rest here for a night before leaving, especially since it's getting late."

Renzo Koya, who had just finished being questioned by the Police, walked over and chimed in.

"Miss Kana, what I'm saying now might not make up for anything. But I am truly sorry for the trouble my silence caused you!"

Facing Kana Mizuguchi, Renzo Koya confessed.

Without deliberately paying attention to their conversation, Takato only now realized that from saving Kana Mizuguchi to the symbolic investigation at Lavender Villa and finally calling the Police for the deduction, half a day had passed!

It was getting late outside now, and thinking that he would still have to find accommodation if he went out, staying at Lavender Villa for a night seemed like a good option compared to worrying about being checked for identification when checking into an outside Hotel.

What's more, he now wanted to calm down and think about the settlement panel information, so he shamelessly stayed.

Upon receiving such a reply, Kana Mizuguchi seemed very happy and quickly tidied up a room for Takato.

Lying on the bed in the villa's guest room, Takato began to carefully consider the "Bounty Detective" settlement panel.

So far, he had completed two case deductions, but the sub-item names that appeared in the final evaluation were different.

When deducing the original body's death for the first time, the three items that appeared were "Logic," "Knowledge," and "Observation"; this time, however, the three items that appeared were "Knowledge," "Social," and "Courage." Except for "Knowledge," which was the same scoring item in both instances, the other two items were completely different.

If he remembered correctly, "Logic," "Knowledge," "Observation," "Social," and "Courage" were the five dimensions used in the "Bounty Detective" game to evaluate a player's level, and when a game case was settled, only the three highest-scoring items among these five were settled.

In simple terms:

"Observation" evaluates a Detective's ability to discover and grasp case details.

"Knowledge" evaluates a Detective's understanding of the knowledge contained behind various information appearing in a case.

"Logic" evaluates a Detective's ability to deduce conclusions from various clues.

"Social" evaluates a Detective's ability to use interpersonal relationships to obtain information and help.

And "Courage" is a comprehensive evaluation of the various choices a Detective makes during the case-solving process.

In the first deduction, he did not use interpersonal relationships at all, so naturally, there was no "Social" score, and the "Courage" score might not have been higher than "Observation," so when the final score took the top three items, "Social" and "Courage" did not appear.

This time, he chose to change Kana Mizuguchi's life trajectory, so his "Courage" score was decent. His final use of words to force Renzo Koya to tell the truth could barely be considered within the scope of "Social."

However, he knew the entire truth of the matter, so his "Knowledge" in this area was perfect, but precisely because of this, he didn't need to deliberately look for clues and then deduce, so "Observation" and "Logic" were not used at all, hence it was impossible for "Observation" and "Logic" to appear when taking the top three items.

He had been played!

If this scoring system continued, even if he encountered original cases later, it would be the same situation—"Observation" and "Logic" would be completely useless. To get an "S" rank score, he would have to start with "Courage" and "Social."

But this time, directly changing a character's life and death only resulted in a "B" rank for "Courage," and it would be even more difficult to get points in "Social."

As a player ranked in the top ten in the "Bounty Detective" game, Takato knew that there were only two ways for the overall evaluation to reach "S" rank—either all three sub-items reached "S" rank, or two reached "S" rank and one reached "A" rank.

Damn it! In front of this scoring mechanism, his knowledge of the original cases had become an obstacle to getting high scores. And currently, the settlement panel offered no rewards unless an "S" rank was achieved, which made this "cheat" too limited. If this was the case, it would be better to solve other cases than to look for original ones!

Thinking this, Takato still felt helpless. He had thought he could easily rely on this "cheat" to get help, but now it seemed he still had a long way to go.

However, due to the original body's possible connection with the organization, the primary goal was still to go to Tokyo and meet Shinichi Kudo.

He sat up from the bed, felt the limited cash in his pocket, and sighed. Next, he had to solve his financial and identity problems.

He took out the half-picture of Shiho Miyano and quietly examined it, as if gaining a sliver of solace—he would see her one day, he had many things to ask her.

Looking at the picture of his favorite character, Takato was full of anticipation.

"Um, Detective Akechi."

Outside the door, Kana Mizuguchi politely knocked and then opened the door.

"Dinner is ready."

"Okay, I'll be right there."

Putting the picture away, Takato got up and walked out.

"Is that a picture of someone important?"

Kana Mizuguchi, seeing this, couldn't help but ask when Takato reached the doorway.

Hearing this, Takato paused, then looked at Kana Mizuguchi and smiled.

"Yes. A very important person."
