In the previous parts, we learned about the early life, عبادah (worship), purity, and noble character of Prophet Yahya (A.S.). In this third part, we will explore the most difficult phase of his life—his trials, his courage in standing for truth, and his martyrdom.
Standing Against Injustice
Prophet Yahya (A.S.) lived in a society where many people had drifted away from the guidance of Allah. Corruption, immoral behavior, and injustice had become common—especially among the rulers and powerful figures.
Despite this, Prophet Yahya (A.S.) never remained silent. He openly spoke against wrongdoing and reminded people of Allah's laws.
At that time, the ruler (king) intended to commit a major sin. He wanted to marry a woman who was forbidden for him according to divine law. This was not just a personal matter—it was a violation of Allah's command.
Proclaiming the Truth
When Prophet Yahya (A.S.) learned about this, he did not hesitate. He clearly declared:
"This is unlawful (haram). It goes against the command of Allah."
He did not say this privately or in fear. Instead, he spoke openly—even though he knew that opposing a king could put his life in danger.
This shows the strength of his faith. He valued truth more than his own safety.
The Conspiracy Against Him
The king and those around him became extremely angry at Prophet Yahya (A.S.). The woman involved also saw him as a major obstacle.
She began to influence the king and plotted against the Prophet. Slowly, a plan was formed to remove him.
This conspiracy was driven by hatred for the truth. When people are deeply attached to their desires, they often reject anyone who reminds them of what is right.
A Life of Patience
Even in this dangerous situation, Prophet Yahya (A.S.) remained patient. He did not stop his mission. He continued to call people toward Allah and warn them against sin.
He understood that being a prophet comes with trials. Hardships are part of the journey of those who stand for truth.
His patience teaches us a powerful lesson: when we are on the right path, difficulties may come—but we must remain firm.
Imprisonment
Eventually, the ruler ordered that Prophet Yahya (A.S.) be arrested. He was taken and placed in prison.
Even inside the prison, he continued to remember Allah. His faith did not weaken—in fact, it became even stronger.
He did not complain or lose hope. He trusted that everything happening was by the will of Allah.
The Martyrdom of Prophet Yahya (A.S.)
The conspirators finally succeeded in their plan. They convinced the ruler to execute Prophet Yahya (A.S.).
Thus, this noble prophet was martyred.
Prophet Yahya (A.S.) remained firm upon the truth until his very last moment. He never compromised, never gave in to falsehood, and never changed his message.
His martyrdom became a powerful example in history—showing that standing for truth may require the greatest sacrifice.
Reaction of Prophet Isa (A.S.)
The martyrdom of Prophet Yahya (A.S.) deeply affected Prophet Isa (A.S.).
He was saddened by the loss of such a righteous and courageous prophet. Prophet Isa (A.S.) continued the mission, calling people even more strongly toward Allah and reminding them of the consequences of wrongdoing.
This shows the bond between the prophets—they supported each other in guiding humanity.
Lessons from His Martyrdom
The life and death of Prophet Yahya (A.S.) teach us many important lessons:
1. Truth Requires Sacrifice
Standing for truth is not always easy. Sometimes it demands great sacrifice, even one's life.
2. Speak Against Injustice
We should not remain silent when we see wrongdoing. Silence can make us part of the injustice.
3. Trust in Allah
Even in the most difficult situations, Prophet Yahya (A.S.) trusted Allah completely.
4. This World Is Temporary
His life reminds us that this world is not permanent. The real success is in the Hereafter.
His High Status
Prophet Yahya (A.S.) held a very high مقام (status) in the sight of Allah. He was known for his purity, righteousness, and خوف (fear) of Allah.
The Qur'an describes him as:
Pure and chaste
A leader (Sayyid)
A righteous prophet
These qualities made him one of the most honored servants of Allah.

আগের পর্বগুলোতে আমরা জেনেছি ইয়াহিয়া (আ.)-এর শৈশব, তাঁর ইবাদত, পবিত্রতা এবং মানুষকে সত্যের পথে আহ্বান করার কথা। এই তৃতীয় পর্বে আমরা জানব তাঁর জীবনের সবচেয়ে কঠিন সময়, তাঁর পরীক্ষাসমূহ, এবং তাঁর শাহাদাতের ঘটনা।
অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে দাঁড়ানো
যে সমাজে ইয়াহিয়া (আ.) দাওয়াত দিচ্ছিলেন, সেখানে অনেক মানুষ আল্লাহর পথ থেকে দূরে সরে গিয়েছিল। বিশেষ করে শাসক শ্রেণির মধ্যে অন্যায়, অত্যাচার এবং নৈতিক অবক্ষয় ছিল ব্যাপক।
ইয়াহিয়া (আ.) এসব অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে নির্ভয়ে কথা বলতেন। তিনি কখনো ভয় পাননি, কারণ তিনি জানতেন—সত্যের পথে থাকা মানেই আল্লাহর সাহায্য পাওয়া।
সেই সময়ের শাসক (রাজা) এক গুরুতর অন্যায় কাজ করতে চেয়েছিল—সে এমন একজন নারীর সাথে বিবাহ করতে চেয়েছিল, যা শরীয়তের দৃষ্টিতে সম্পূর্ণ হারাম ছিল।
সত্যের ঘোষণা
যখন এই খবর ইয়াহিয়া (আ.)-এর কাছে পৌঁছাল, তিনি দ্বিধা না করে স্পষ্টভাবে ঘোষণা করলেন:
"এটি হারাম, এটি আল্লাহর বিধানের বিরুদ্ধে।"
এই কথা তিনি শুধু সাধারণ মানুষদের কাছেই বলেননি, বরং শাসকের বিরুদ্ধেও প্রকাশ্যে বলেছিলেন।
এই সাহসিকতা ছিল তাঁর ঈমানের প্রমাণ। তিনি জানতেন, এই কথা বলার কারণে তাঁর জীবনে বিপদ আসতে পারে—তবুও তিনি সত্যকে গোপন করেননি।
শত্রুদের ষড়যন্ত্র
রাজা এবং তার আশেপাশের লোকেরা ইয়াহিয়া (আ.)-এর এই বক্তব্যে অত্যন্ত ক্ষুব্ধ হয়ে যায়। বিশেষ করে সেই নারী, যার সাথে রাজা বিবাহ করতে চেয়েছিল, সে ইয়াহিয়া (আ.)-কে নিজের বড় শত্রু মনে করতে শুরু করে।
সে পরিকল্পনা করতে থাকে কিভাবে ইয়াহিয়া (আ.)-কে সরিয়ে দেওয়া যায়।
ধীরে ধীরে একটি ষড়যন্ত্র গড়ে ওঠে—যার লক্ষ্য ছিল এই মহান নবীকে হত্যা করা।
পরীক্ষা ও ধৈর্য
এই কঠিন পরিস্থিতিতেও ইয়াহিয়া (আ.) ধৈর্য হারাননি। তিনি জানতেন, একজন নবীর জীবন সহজ নয়—তাদের সবসময় পরীক্ষা দিতে হয়।
তিনি তাঁর দাওয়াত চালিয়ে যেতে থাকেন, মানুষকে আল্লাহর পথে ডাকতে থাকেন, এবং অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলতে থাকেন।
তাঁর এই ধৈর্য আমাদের শেখায়—যখন আমরা সঠিক পথে থাকি, তখন কষ্ট আসতেই পারে, কিন্তু আমাদের ধৈর্য ধরতে হবে।
গ্রেফতার
অবশেষে শাসক ইয়াহিয়া (আ.)-কে গ্রেফতার করার আদেশ দেয়। তাঁকে বন্দি করে রাখা হয়।
কারাগারের মধ্যেও তিনি আল্লাহকে স্মরণ করতে থাকেন। তাঁর ঈমান দুর্বল হয়নি, বরং আরও শক্তিশালী হয়েছিল।
তিনি জানতেন—যা কিছু হচ্ছে, তা আল্লাহর ইচ্ছাতেই হচ্ছে।
শাহাদাতের ঘটনা
ষড়যন্ত্রকারীরা শেষ পর্যন্ত তাদের পরিকল্পনা সফল করে। তারা শাসককে প্ররোচিত করে ইয়াহিয়া (আ.)-কে হত্যা করার জন্য।
অবশেষে এই মহান নবীকে শহীদ করা হয়।
ইয়াহিয়া (আ.) তাঁর জীবনের শেষ মুহূর্ত পর্যন্ত সত্যের উপর অটল ছিলেন। তিনি কখনো আপস করেননি, কখনো মিথ্যার কাছে মাথা নত করেননি।
তাঁর শাহাদাত ইতিহাসে এক বড় শিক্ষা হয়ে আছে—সত্যের পথে চলতে গেলে কখনো কখনো জীবনও দিতে হয়।
ঈসা (আ.)-এর প্রতিক্রিয়া
ইয়াহিয়া (আ.)-এর শাহাদাতের ঘটনা ঈসা (আ.)-এর জন্যও ছিল অত্যন্ত কষ্টদায়ক।
তিনি তাঁর এই প্রিয় সহচরের জন্য দুঃখ প্রকাশ করেন এবং মানুষকে আরও বেশি করে আল্লাহর পথে ফিরে আসার আহ্বান জানান।
তাঁর শাহাদাতের শিক্ষা
ইয়াহিয়া (আ.)-এর শাহাদাত আমাদের অনেক গভীর শিক্ষা দেয়:
১. সত্যের জন্য ত্যাগ স্বীকার করতে হয়
তিনি দেখিয়েছেন, সত্যের পথে থাকলে বড় ত্যাগ স্বীকার করতে হতে পারে।
২. অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলা জরুরি
যে অন্যায় দেখে চুপ থাকে, সে অন্যায়ের অংশীদার হয়ে যায়।
৩. আল্লাহর উপর ভরসা রাখা
সবচেয়ে কঠিন সময়েও তিনি আল্লাহর উপর ভরসা রেখেছিলেন।
৪. দুনিয়া ক্ষণস্থায়ী
এই দুনিয়া চিরস্থায়ী নয়—আসল জীবন হলো আখিরাতের জীবন।
তাঁর মর্যাদা
ইয়াহিয়া (আ.) ছিলেন আল্লাহর এক প্রিয় নবী। তিনি ছিলেন পবিত্র, সৎ এবং আল্লাহভীরু।
কুরআনে তাঁর সম্পর্কে বলা হয়েছে যে, তিনি ছিলেন "হাসুর" (নিজেকে পাপ থেকে বিরত রাখতেন), "সাইয়্যিদ" (নেতৃত্বের গুণাবলী সম্পন্ন), এবং "নবী" (আল্লাহর প্রেরিত রাসূল)।
এই গুণগুলো তাঁকে বিশেষ মর্যাদায় অধিষ্ঠিত করেছে।
আমাদের জন্য শিক্ষা
ইয়াহিয়া (আ.)-এর পুরো জীবন থেকে আমরা যা শিখি:
ছোটবেলা থেকেই ভালো হওয়ার চেষ্টা করা
