I walked hand in hand with Tsumigi. Honestly, she wasn't bad company. She was a quiet kid, but cute in her own way, and she held onto my hand tightly as if letting go would make me disappear.
We were currently walking away from Shibuya, heading toward the outer districts where the evacuation efforts were happening. If things were going as they did in the series, there should be jujutsu sorcerers helping civilians escape the disaster zone.
My plan was simple: hand Tsumigi over to them.
The distance itself wasn't that long, maybe an hour of walking if we kept a steady pace. The real problem was the curses hiding. Any random curse could appear at any moment, and I still had no real combat experience. Winning one fight didn't make me a good fighter.
So I kept my eyes open the whole time, scanning rooftops, alleys, broken windows, and the empty streets around us. The city was eerily quiet. Well, what can you expect nuke level attack happened in Shibuya.
Occasionally, a distant siren echoed somewhere far away. The smell of smoke still hung in the air.
Tsumigi didn't say much, but every time a loud noise echoed somewhere in the distance, her grip on my hand tightened. She was scared, and I was her only lifeline, so I felt proud; this feeling was not bad at all.
Eventually, after what felt like forever, we finally saw the Jujutsu sorcerers.
It had taken closer to two hours, but a group of them was guiding civilians toward a temporary evacuation point. There were medical tents set up nearby.
We had made it.
"Tsumigi-chan," I said gently, pointing toward the group of sorcerers escorting civilians.
I knelt slightly so we were at eye level.
"I have to leave you soon, alright? But don't worry, I'll come back for you."
She looked where I pointed.
"Do you see them? Those people are sorcerers. They help people. I want you to go with them, okay? Can you do that for me?"
My voice stayed calm and soft.
She looked back at me. I could tell she didn't want to leave.
She didn't trust them. She trusted me. But I couldn't bring her along. I had my own plans.
If I wanted to survive this world, the safest option was to insert myself into the main story somehow. If I could run into Yuji, Megumi, or Yuta and stay close to them, my survival chances would increase dramatically.
Following Yuji and Megumi into the colony later would probably be the best move. I could help them however I could, maybe even warn them about things that would happen.
There was also Tengen, Honestly if I could talk with her, nothing bad would happen; she was smart, but she lacked knowledge of her enemies. I could tell her about Kenjaku, Sukuns, and others, and I would just need to lie back and enjoy as she would deal with troubles.
But that would require her to trust me enough to bring me to her, which honestly sounded unlikely. I could just attack her
And then there was Sukuna.
I wanted to stop Sukuna from taking over Megumi if possible.
…So many plans.
I got lost in my thoughts again until I looked back at Tsumigi.
She was crying.
Ah. Right.
I crouched down again and gently patted her head.
"It's okay," I said softly. "I'll be there for you. I just need to do something really important."
I smiled at her.
"You saw me use magic earlier, didn't you? I'm a strong witch. I need to help people."
…Was lying to a kid a bad idea?
Well. At least it motivated her.
So I continued feeding her complete nonsense about how I was going to save Japan and defeat evil monsters.
And somehow she believed every word.
Kids are terrifyingly easy to convince, or I am just a manipulative bastard.
While I was still talking, I noticed movement in the distance.
A group was walking toward us.
Five people all of them were sorcerers.
And judging by the way they were looking at me… they were wary.
That made sense. I still had trouble controlling my cursed energy properly. I had a massive amount of it, but my control was terrible. Some of it constantly leaked out. Fuuuu...
Apparently, it was enough to make experienced sorcerers nervous.
I slowly stood up as they approached. When they were about ten meters away, they stopped.
The man who looked like their leader stared directly at me.
"Who are you?" he asked firmly. "Identify yourself. Are you a sorcerer?"
And just like that…
Round two of bullshitting began.
"My name is Ikuyo Kita," I said calmly. "This is Hina Tsumigi."
I scratched my head awkwardly.
"Uhh… what do you mean by a sorcerer?"
I tried my best to look confused.
Suddenly, the only girl in the group stepped forward and practically shouted.
"Don't lie to us! Are you a curse user?!"
Instantly, all five of them shifted into fighting stances.
Wow. That escalated fast.
"W-What's a curse user?" I stammered. "We just came out of the destruction zone. There are demons flying everywhere!"
Yes. Demons. Not curses.
I deliberately used the wrong term to sound more clueless. Unfortunately, it didn't help much.
Considering the Shibuya Incident was believed to be caused by curse users, I probably looked extremely suspicious.
"There are flying demons," I continued quickly. "And I suddenly awakened powers!"
To prove my point, I created a small fireball and started juggling it between my hands.
"See? I got a superpower. Do you guys also have superpowers?"
The group looked at each other.
Their leader relaxed slightly.
"My name is Takeru Kamo," he said.
Ah.
Kamo clan.
Great. The potential clan
"So you claim your jujutsu awakened recently, and you even have a technique?"
I nodded.
He looked… slightly jealous.
Over the next twenty-five minutes, as we walked toward the evacuation center together, he introduced the rest of the group.
Three members were from the Kamo clan.
The girl who had yelled earlier was an independent grade-3 sorcerer.
The last man was another independent sorcerer.
From what I understood, the higher-ups had gathered low-level sorcerers and assigned them to escort civilians out of Shibuya.
This squad was one of those teams. I sighed internally.
My plan to quietly drop Tsumigi off and sneak away had completely failed.
Instead, I was now stuck walking with them.
Eventually, we reached the evacuation center.
And of course… they tested me.
They checked my fingerprints. Which felt incredibly strange considering I technically wasn't the real Ikuyo Kita. And instead of some weird jujutsu, they were using non-sorcerer methods.
They also checked whether I was under any kind of curse or manipulation.
Then they verified my identity through government records as my fingerprints matched.
Apparently, this body really did belong to someone named Ikuyo Kita. There were school records, registration files, and other documentation confirming it.
I got extremely lucky. Because I had none of her memories. If they were to ask me some special information, I would have been caught.
The only thing I learned from the records was that she was an orphan.
To summarize everything that happened afterward…
They confirmed my identity.
They verified that I had awakened as a sorcerer.
And they officially registered me.
I received a sorcerer license, though I was listed as unranked.
My information was added to the system so I could report curse activity.
But the real surprise came when they measured my cursed energy. I let go of my pathetic attempts to contain my cursed energy, and the reaction was… interesting.
Apparently, my cursed energy reserves were absurd.
One of the sorcerers working there had previously met Yuta. After seeing my cursed energy amount, he said it was somewhere between Gojo Satoru and Yuta Okkotsu.
Which explained why several people looked at me like I was some kind of monster.
Honestly… that part thrilled me, I could be strong, hehe, what kind of man doesn't dream of flying in the sky battling supernatural battles, could I reach Gojo/Sukuna's level of power? Hopefully.
After everything was done, they let me go.
I found Tsumigi in the disaster relief area and said goodbye.
She was sentimental about it.
Strangely enough… I was, too.
But I couldn't stay.
I had a story to chase. I will follow the main characters like a duckling!
So I returned to Shibuya.
Today was November 4th.
I had spent the night in the evacuation camp, and early the next morning, I headed back toward the ruined city.
Time to find Yuji Itadori.
