Chapter 7: The Sword-Fox and the Tower of Eternal Kalpas

The starlight carriage climbed through the layers of the atmosphere, leaving the stunned, trembling capital of the Azure Cloud Kingdom behind. For the people below, the departure of the carriage was like a second sunset—a streak of indigo and gold that signaled the end of an era. For the Cold-Moon Sect and the Su Family, it was the beginning of a nightmare that would haunt their dreams for generations.

Inside the carriage, the atmosphere was thick with a mixture of awe and exhaustion.

Su Qingchan sat stiffly on the velvet cushions, her fingers still trembling as she gripped her new weapon, the Nether-Void Rapier. She looked at her hands—hands that had been gray and calloused only hours ago—now glowing with the refined luster of a Sovereign. Beside her, Shadow-Stalker Mo stood as a literal shadow, her presence so subtle that if one closed their eyes, they would forget she was there entirely.

"Relax, kid," Ye Chen said, leaning back and resting his feet on a footstool made of solidified moonlight. Xiao Hei, the black cat, was currently using Ye Chen's stomach as a trampoline. "The hard part is over. You survived the family drama, the 'trash' phase, and the dramatic awakening. Now comes the truly difficult part: being lazy enough to survive my teaching style."

Su Qingchan looked at him, her silver eyes shimmering. "Master... I still can't believe it. The curse... it's really gone."

"Gone, pulverized, and turned into snacks for your physique," Ye Chen muttered. He reached into his sleeve, rummaging around. "Oh, wait. I almost forgot. The System—er, the Sect Warehouse—mentioned you were missing your companion. Every direct disciple gets a pet. Lin Feng got that spicy chicken on his shoulder. You get this."

He pulled his hand out, and in his palm sat a small, curled-up ball of silver fur.

As Ye Chen placed it on the seat next to Su Qingchan, the creature uncurled. It was a fox, but like everything else in this sect, it defied common logic. Its fur was the color of a winter moon, and it had nine tails that didn't look like fur at all—they looked like sharpened, translucent blades made of diamond. Its eyes were a deep, cosmic violet.

[Ding! Issuing Direct Disciple Pet for Su Qingchan!]

[Name: Yue'er]

[Species: Spectral Moon-Eating Fox]

[Ability: Feeds on the 'Sword Intent' of enemies. Can phase through physical matter and hide in the user's shadow.]

The fox let out a tiny, high-pitched yip and immediately scrambled up Su Qingchan's arm, nuzzling into the crook of her neck.

"Master... she's beautiful," Su Qingchan whispered, a genuine smile finally breaking across her face.

"She's a glutton for sword qi," Ye Chen warned. "If you don't practice your swings, she'll start nibbling on your rapier. Lin Feng, don't look so jealous. Your bird is currently trying to set my curtains on fire. Control your poultry."

Lin Feng, who had been staring at the fox with wide eyes, quickly pulled the Vermillion Bird hatchling back. "I wasn't jealous, Master! I was just... observing the junior sister's beast! My Little Red is much more... energetic!"

The bird chirped indignantly, spitting a tiny spark of golden fire that missed Ye Chen's nose by an inch. Ye Chen didn't move, but the spark simply hit an invisible barrier an inch from his face and vanished into nothingness.

The Homecoming and the Heavenly Reward

The journey back to the Eternal Divine Sacred Land took only minutes. The Void-Steppers didn't travel across the land; they galloped through the cracks in space-time. To the disciples, it felt like a blink; to the rest of the world, three thousand miles was a distance that required months of travel.

As the carriage descended through the thick, memory-erasing fog, the majesty of the mountain peak revealed itself to Su Qingchan for the first time.

She gasped. The Azure Cloud Kingdom was a speck of dust compared to this. The white jade palaces, the waterfalls of liquid spiritual energy, and the sheer density of the Qi in the air made her feel like she was ascending to a higher plane of existence.

"Welcome to the office," Ye Chen said, hopping out of the carriage as it touched down in the main courtyard.

The Silent Empress was already waiting, her black armor reflecting the shimmering light of the sect's arrays. She bowed deeply. "Welcome back, Sect Master. The mountain has been quiet. I have processed the 'ants' that lingered near the base."

"Good job, Empress. This is Su Qingchan, our second direct disciple. She's a sword nut. Set her up in the pavilion next to the bamboo grove," Ye Chen instructed, already walking toward his favorite lounge chair.

But as his foot touched the jade tiles of the central plaza, a massive golden screen erupted in his mind.

[Ding! Mission Accomplished: Recruit Two Direct Disciples with Unique Physiques!]

[Calculating Success Rate... Perfect.]

[Calculating Efficiency... High.]

[Issuing Mega-Reward: The Tower of Eternal Kalpas!]

The earth didn't just shake; it hummed with a deep, bass note that resonated through the souls of everyone on the mountain. To the east of the main palace, the space began to twist. A pillar of bronze and obsidian light shot into the sky, and from the ground, a structure began to emerge.

It was a tower. But it wasn't a normal building. It was a spiraling monolith that seemed to exist in multiple dimensions at once. The base was as wide as a city block, and the top vanished into the clouds, higher than even the palace itself.

[The Tower of Eternal Kalpas (Divine Grade Artifact)]

[Description: A 1,000-floor temporal anomaly. Each floor provides a specific environment for cultivation and, more importantly, a Time Dilation effect.]

Ye Chen squinted at the tower. "A thousand floors? That's going to be a nightmare to keep clean."

[System Note: Access Hierarchy is automatically established based on Sect Rank:]

• Floors 1–300: Ordinary/Miscellaneous Disciples. (Time Ratio: 2:1 — Two days inside is one day outside.)

• Floors 301–500: Outer Disciples. (Time Ratio: 5:1.)

• Floors 501–800: Inner Disciples. (Time Ratio: 20:1.)

• Floors 801–999: Direct Disciples. (Time Ratio: 100:1 — Over three months inside is only one day outside.)

• The 1000th Floor: Sect Master, Grand Elders, Protectors. (Time Ratio: Infinite/User-Defined. Note: Only those at the God-tier or above can withstand the temporal pressure of the top floor.)

Ye Chen's eyes widened slightly. 100:1? That meant Lin Feng and Su Qingchan could train for a century inside and only a year would pass in the outside world.

"Well," Ye Chen said, turning to his two disciples, who were staring at the tower like they had just seen the face of the Creator. "I was going to let you rest, but the System—I mean, the Heavens—have other plans. That tower over there is your new home for the next few months."

He pointed a lazy finger at the massive structure. "Lin Feng, you're on floor 801. Qingchan, you're on 802. Go in there and don't come out until you've mastered the first three stages of your custom techniques. General Yan, Shadow-Stalker Mo, go with them. If they slack off, give them a 'nudge.'"

Lin Feng gripped his blade, his face set in a mask of determination. "Master! I will not fail you! I will reach the Golden Core realm before I step foot out of that tower!"

Su Qingchan bowed, the moon-fox Yue'er nipping at her ear. "I will strive to be worthy of the Master's grace."

As the two disciples and their God-Emperor protectors entered the shimmering gates of the tower, the mountain grew quiet again.

Ye Chen slumped into his chair, Xiao Hei curling up on his lap. The Silent Empress stood nearby, her gaze fixed on the tower.

"Grand Elder," Ye Chen murmured, closing his eyes.

"Yes, Sect Master?"

"I think I'm going to need a bigger tea set. If we keep recruiting people with 'Sovereign' this and 'Heavenly' that, this mountain is going to get very crowded, very fast."

"I shall commission the forge-spirits immediately," she replied.

Ye Chen drifted off to sleep, unaware that far to the West, in the heart of the Central Plains, an ancient stone tablet had just cracked. A name had appeared on the "List of Heaven's Secrets"—a name that shouldn't exist, belonging to a sect that the world had forgotten.

The ripples were starting. And the Eternal Divine Sacred Land was at the center of the storm.
