The courtyard was louder today, groups laughing, conversations overlapping, but Caius filtered through it all like background noise.
He wasn't looking for attention. He was looking for her.

Across the courtyard, leaning against a railing, laughing at something someone said. But it wasn't the laugh that caught him.
It was the way she looked around after, like she already knew who was watching.
Like she enjoyed it.
Caius's eyes narrowed slightly. She's Different.

Chris Vexthron's instincts kicked in immediately.
"Unpredictable targets don't follow structure. You follow their rhythm, then take control."
Caius approached, but not directly. He circled slightly, stepping into her space like it wasn't intentional.
She noticed. Of course she did.
Her eyes flicked to him, smile already forming before he even spoke.
"Okay," she said, tilting her head slightly. "You're either lost… or you came over here on purpose."
Caius smirked faintly. "What if it's both?"
She laughed, quickly, genuinely. Not forced.
Not even calculated.
But her eyes? Still watching him closely.

"Engagement: High"
"Control Balance: Neutral"
"Bold answer," she said. "I like that."
Caius leaned slightly against the railing beside her, relaxed but present. Not too close.
Not distant either. Perfect middle ground.
"And you are?" he asked.
She raised an eyebrow, amused.
"You walked up to me without knowing my name?"
"Didn't need it," Caius replied calmly. "You stood out."
Pause. That landed.
But instead of blushing like Lila, or pushing back like Kira, Bella stepped closer.
Just a little.
"Oh yeah?" she said softly. "And what exactly stood out?"
There it was. A test, but playful.
Not defensive. Not aggressive. But Inviting.

Caius didn't hesitate.
"The fact that you already knew I was coming over," he said.
A beat.
Then, She smiled wider.
"Okay… you might actually be interesting."

Caius watched her carefully now.
Bella wasn't reacting.
She was participating. That made her different.
More dangerous.
Across the courtyard, the system pinged again.

Caius didn't look at either of them. Didn't break focus. That was the move.
Bella noticed that too.

"You're not like the others," she said.
Caius shrugged lightly. "Never was."
She studied him for a second longer than necessary.
Then smiled again, but softer this time.

"Good," she said. "Because I get bored easy."
Caius pushed off the railing.
"That sounds like a challenge."

He started to walk away. Didn't drag it out.

Right before he left, "Caius," she called.
