Chapter 5: An Offer Too Big
The next morning—
The car was already there.
Waiting.
At the entrance of the alley.
As if it knew he would come.
Tanoy stopped walking.
For a moment, he considered turning back.
Ignoring everything.
But then—
The car door slowly opened.
Inviting him in.
He took a deep breath.
Then walked forward.
And got inside.
"Good," the man said. "You came."
Tanoy didn't waste time.
"Say what you want."
No hesitation.
No fear.
Just impatience.
The man seemed amused.
"I like that."
Tanoy remained silent.
So the man continued—
"Money can solve most problems."
Tanoy's eyes narrowed slightly.
"I don't believe that."
The man smiled.
"That's because you don't have enough of it."
Silence filled the car.
Then—
"I can give you as much as you need," the man said.
Tanoy turned slowly.
"What?"
"A blank cheque," the man continued. "You write the amount."
Tanoy felt his heartbeat quicken.
A blank cheque?
This wasn't normal.
This wasn't real.
"You're joking," Tanoy said.
"I never joke about business."
Business.
So this was a deal.
"What do you want from me?" Tanoy asked quietly.
The car slowed down again.
This time, it stopped in front of a massive building.
Glass walls.
Security guards.
A luxury hospital.
"Go inside," the man said, handing him a card.
"Take the lift to the 11th floor. Room 1101."
Tanoy stared at the card.
"What's there?"
The man looked at him.
"A reason."
Tanoy stepped out slowly.
His fingers tightened around the card.
Something told him—
This wasn't just about money anymore.
And yet—
He walked in.
